Go Blue - April is Autism Awareness Month The fourteenth annual World Autism Awareness Day is April 2, 2021. Throughout the month, supporters focus on sharing stories and providing opportunities to increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism, fostering worldwide support. Since COVID-19 became a global pandemic, socializing was put on the back burner, as well as many other activities involving large crowds. Many public events have been postponed or canceled, but being supportive and kind to those around us should never be put off. This 2021, we should be more committed than ever to be helpful towards those in need. The Autism community needs our constant support, kindness and compassion. If you’re active on social media, we invite you to post and use #LightUpWithKindness. How Can You Show Some Support aside from Hash tagging on social media? Connect with your neighborhoods - Many Autism Society local affiliates
hold special events in their communities throughout the entire month of April. But if you can’t find an event that suits you, why not create your own and invite others? Hibachi Express: Delicious Hibachi and Sushi for ANY Occasion!
(as submitted by Gordon, Lydia and Martin)
OUR STORY Everyone has a story. In that regard, we are no different. We came up with a good idea, we spent months and then years developing and perfecting our recipes, then we created a restaurant with a peaceful, aesthetic ambience. In fact, this may turn out to be a pretty typical story at the end of the day. Our humility comes from a sense of responsibility to our community. We are thrilled to be part of the New Port Richey community at this point. Our restaurants started back in 2013 and 8 years later, we have several locations and a STRONG commitment to excellence. The feedback we’ve CONSISTENTLY gotten

from the vast majority of our guests is that you very much like our food. Once again, we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to serve you. In the meantime, being
part of the Asian-American community, we are proud to show our commitment as Americans, to the concept of community and family values. This is one of the things that
makes this country so great! The American dream is alive and well at Hibachi Express. If there was one thing that perhaps makes us unique, it would be concept of “fast

food preparation” vs. just fast food. In other words, we don’t prepare our food in anticipation of how many guests we might have at any given time during the day. Instead, we prepare whatever we can ahead of time, but actually do the cooking and the final touches only once we’ve received the order from our guests. So while we may fall into the category of a “fast food restaurant”, we are actually a “fine dining restaurant” that prepares your food quickly, to order, whether it’s for dine-in or carry-out. Another noteworthy factor in the formula for our success is the cleanliness of our restaurants. We take this very seriously as we firmly believe that a clean restaurant makes for a more peaceful dining experience. A “final” ingredient for us is the simple concept of respect. This is a commodity that is “free”, but comes with a very high cost when not provided to our guests or employees. We start by calling our employees Team Members because without them, we have no team, and quite frankly, no restaurant! If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to experience the taste of our food and the ambience, please come check us out!
Some highlights include: • Affordable, delicious food! • Popular for all ages. • We have an open kitchen that our Patrons can trust! • We have vegan and vegetarian options. • Meals available for individuals who want glutenfree options. • We serve fresh sushi and Hibachi meals. • The yum yum and gyoza sauces – ridiculous! • Our food is prepared on the grill so it is healthy and never greasy! • Party trays are available for large groups. Based on the positive feedback we have gotten from our guests, the biggest challenge we presently face is almost strictly a “marketing” issue. In other words, once more people know about our location, our quality, the ambience, and the experience, we should be able to hire more Team Members and serve more of our local community! Until then, if you already know us, and appreciate the food and the experience, please let your friends know about us. Then come join us and sit back, relax, and let us serve you! If you have YET to try a meal with us, by all means, please come in for a visit and taste
amazing Hibachi and/or sushi! On a final note, word of mouth is critical to our immediate success. There’s nothing more important then positive feedback from you, our guests. If you agree, and you’re willing to, anything you say to educate your friends and family about our restaurant would be greatly

Gregg Schindler female Athlete of the Month - Sydney Fowler: There’s No Place Like Home! By Sofia Chianella Softball runs in the family for J.W. Mitchell High School junior Sydney Fowler. The game of trying to get the most hits when up to bat, get the most outs when in the field, and running the bases all the way home as fast as you can, isn’t just a sport to Fowler. It has an emotional connection to her based on her mother’s experience in the sport, who passed away her freshman year. This tragedy in Fowler’s life has not stopped her from being on the varsity softball team for 3 years and now leading the team as captain. “There was a major struggle in my life with a family issue with my mother passing my freshman year of high school. It sucks knowing that she can’t come to any of my high school games and watch me play. My mom keeps me motivated because I know it is something that she would want me to keep doing to make her proud,” Fowler said. Keeping the sport in the family, Fowler’s older sister contributed to her love of softball for over a decade. “My mom started playing in high school, but mainly my sister Jordan Fowler who played at Mitchell as well in 2010-2014. [She] also went to college to play,
which led me to play softball my whole life. I was constantly around the environment, either going to her games and watching her,” Fowler said. Playing softball since 4 years old allowed Fowler to improve year by year, in all different aspects of the quick paced game. “My strengths in this sport is definitely pitching right now, with how I spin my ball the correct way with movement. Another strength is hitting with putting my bat on the ball and scoring a lot of runs for my team in big innings,” Fowler said. As a leader of the team, Fowler knows what she has to personally improve on to help her team as a whole, not just for herself. “A weakness in my sport is being too quiet. I feel like as captain and a leader on the team I need to be more vocal and get everyone in the game and cheer them on in the dugout and on the field,” Fowler said. Fowler described her relationship with her coach Scott Bisbe (FAC) as outgoing. This allowed her to talk openly with Bisbe on subjects that were important to her improvement in the game. “Being on varsity softball for 3 years and now captain shows how long I have come to get this position from him. We communicate a lot with any events that

Especially the other coaches, we all talk about things and they all help out to make me a better athlete,” Fowler said. The feeling Fowler has about her head coach is mutual, as he describes her as a great teammate and a leader on and off the field. “Sydney Fowler is an excellent athlete and a strong softball player. that does not have to think about a situation before reacting to it on the field. She is one of our top pitchers and can play third base, second base as well as shortstop. Sydney is also a smart base runner,” Coach Bisbe said. Overcoming the tragic experience of her mother passing has not stopped Fowler from succeeding in the game of softball, as she receives positive feedback from her head coach and now leads her team as captain.

Eleven Mitchell Student Athletes signed with colleges and universities, from the sports of football, soccer, and track. By Emma Diehl After their years of hard work and dedication in their respective sports, 11 J.W. Mitchell High School seniors have signed with different colleges. These athletes worked hard to secure their scholarships, and committed to their colleges because of their coaches, divisions, and academic departments. While there are a plethora of places to find inspiration for these athletes, several listed their families as their greatest encouragement. “My family has influenced me over the years by supporting me and my aspirations I have for the game. By taking
me to practices, games, and camps so I can be the best player I can be. In addition, they instilled values that will bring success to me in the future,” Lars Legg, a soccer player who signed with Lake Erie College, said. Another source of inspiration that these student athletes listed would be their coaches. Destiny Sanchez, a soccer player who committed to Norwich University for both their soccer and Marine ROTC programs, stated that her coaches were a major influence on her student athletic career. “My coaches pushed me until I couldn’t anymore, and they wouldn’t let me give up.
On Feb. 3, six Mitchell football players signed with their respective colleges. Photo by Tom Mewborn They taught me skill, passion, and how to play with my heart. They showed me that I play for my team and my team plays for me, and we fight together,” Sanchez said. In heading off to college,
students face plenty of challenges, even more so with the pandemic still in effect. Head football coach Andrew Schmitz (FAC) had plenty of advice for players to help them succeed in college, as well as advice

They need to show up in shape and ready to prove themselves immediately. [For underclass I say] Grades, grades and grades. The higher your GPA is, the more options you’ll have. Don’t put yourself
in a hole as a freshman and sophomore,” Schmitz said. When selecting which college to attend, athletes have to be selective just like everyone else. They have to look into things like coaching staff, past season records, and division rankings. Senior Evan Brennan, also a Lake Erie College commit, checked off all of

[I can have] a whole new experience in Ohio. Football has taught me so much through leadership, brotherhood, and discipline. It teaches you how to work as a team, not allowing one person to be greater than any other,” Brennan said. Going All Out, All Games, All Season! Justin Fisher (21’) receives the Greg Schindler Male Student Athlete of the Month for April By Alexa Grubbs Throughout the boys’ soccer season at JW Mitchell High School, senior Justin Fisher played an instrumental part of the team. As a result, he was awarded the Greg Schindler Boys Student Athlete of the Month for April. Justin began playing soccer at four years old and started playing competitively at 10. Since then, he has come a long way, now playing varsity soccer at Mitchell all four years as their goalkeeper and as a captain this year. “I play goalkeeper because when I first started playing, I always loved stopping shots and my coach suggested that it was a good position to use my height to my advantage,” said Fisher. This year Fisher played 27 games as goalkeeper and a total of 102 games over his whole high school career for JW Mitchell, according to MaxPreps.com. He also has 231 saves this year with

an average of 8.6 per match. Due to his work ethic, leadership, and performance, Fisher’s coach, Oscar Ubillus, nominated him for this award. “From a nervous freshman to leading us to two consecutive state final fours, Justin has been a coach’s dream and, like his teammates, will succeed in whatever he chooses to do next in life. As our record-holder with most games played, leader, and captain he has represented himself, his family, and Mitchell Soccer with pride and class throughout his high school career,” Ubillus said. On top of being committed to soccer, Fisher also played for Mitchell’s varsity lacrosse team. Juggling both sports, he adjusted his schedule and accommodated for both so he could be a team player to both groups of teammates. “I had communicated with the lacrosse coach that our [soccer]

Gregg Schindler Musician of the Month - Grace Wilson: Marching to her own drum! By Marina Saviceva-Noti Grace Wilson, the first Gregg Schindler State Farm Agency Band Student honored, picked up percussion starting from her first year in middle school band. Now, she is a dedicated member of percussion in the J W Mitchell Bands, pushing her peers to succeed and striving to do better in her own playing. Wilson’s musical start began before she went into middle school, by playing piano on her own. It led to her interest in band and helped her make the decision to pick a percussion instrument. “I chose percussion because it has a lot of the same skills and applications as piano,” Wilson said. Piano provided the valuable foundation for her future in band. When entering as a freshman in 2017, she played the Painted Black marching show, followed by The Crown, then Wild and Free, and finally this year’s smaller
show, Welcome to the Jungle. But her true passion came later in the year during concert season: indoor percussion. “My favorite part of band is probably our indoor percussion season, where the percussion section competes competitively across the state. Marimba is my favorite instrument, which is what I have played during marching band and indoor percussion for the past two years,” Wilson said. Band director Ryan Harring nominated Wilson for the Gregg Schindler award due to her dedication and devotion to the art of percussion and her outstanding role as a leader. “Not only is she one of our best musicians in the percussion section, she is also a fantastic pianist, a strong leader, and a diligent student. She represents some of the best qualities of the J. W. Mitchell High School Band,” Harring said. From March 27-28, the indoor percussion participants travelled

Ownership should be truly proud of these team members!!” Galley Kitchen update Colleen M. 3 months ago: “From beginning to completion of my galley kitchen, my experience with CMK has been phenomenal!!! Derrick the designer, Michael the project manager and Joe and Romy the contractors have conducted themselves in a courteous, professional manner and made me feel like my project was foremost. I couldn’t be happier with the personal attention I have received from Michael and Joe. I highly recommend CMK and will be using them on my future projects.” Bathroom remodel Bernardo C. 3 months ago: “Our experience was excellent. This was directly due to the Project Manager Dillon and the incredible crew of Scotty

and Joe that did the work from demo to finish. Very meticulous workers and Dillon was very hands on in supporting his crew.” These are not only ringing endorsements for the quality of work performed by CMK Construction, but proof of the professionalism of its in-house staff, from the sales agent to the designer of your project to the project manager and installation workers. Separating themselves from the competition, CMK maintains two accredited designer professionals whose services they provide without charge to their customers. It is just one more way, CMK goes the extra mile for you! With a 5 out 5 ratings based on 59 reviews, their customers have given CMK Construction their unqualified approval, which explains their BBB accredited business rating of A+, 2020 People’s Choice Best of the Best Bathroom and Kitchen (Tampa Bay Times) and 2019 Angie’s List 2019 Super Service Award. Additional awards and accreditations have come from Home Advisor and Thumbtack. Manny explained CMK is under consideration for additional awards this year. Known for their quality and committed to providing exceptional customer service, CMK offers you, their customers, a range of outstanding products for all your remodeling needs. They are especially
proud of their Schluter certification. Schluter is a German company that has developed a waterproofing system that, when installed as part of your bathroom remodel, carries a lifetime guarantee. CMK continuously trains all its installation employees yearly on Schluter’s latest techniques. Manufacturers like Elysium, Delta, and Moen provide state-of-the-art faucets and hardware while industry leaders like Brizo, MSI, Cambria, Radianz beautify their kitchen counters. Matched with beautiful cabinets from Fabuwood, Wellborn, and R. D. Henry, an ordinary kitchen becomes extraordinary, your dream one. As the CMK website notes, “CMK Construction also sets itself apart as a kitchen remodeling company with multiple certifications. As a statedcertified general contractor that is Lead Safe Certified with the EPA, you can trust that your project is in the hands of a highly knowledgeable group.” Offering a full range of quality products for all your remodeling needs including kitchen and bath fixtures, countertops and kitchen cabinets, backsplashes, flooring and even under and over counter accent lighting incorporated into your design, your choices are many. It is obvious from my interview with co-owner Manny that he came by his love

of remodeling and working with his hands naturally. When his father came to this country from Greece, he began a painting business. Manny said that for him remodeling was a three-step process: consult, design, and build, with each an integral part of the finished product. During the consultation phase, customers meet with the team’s designers to decide what elements should be part of their design. They can choose to work with their designer’s suggestions or provide their own blueprint designs. CMK is perfectly willing to work with either. During the preconstruction meeting, they complete all plans, order materials that may not be in stock, and schedule the remodel for construction when they receive the material. To aid in the open communications process
between their client and CMK Construction, they go one step further and assign an experienced individual Project Manager to each remodel. He is the contact person for each customer and is available to answer questions throughout the course of the project. This and a one-year workmanship warranty, besides individual manufacturer’s hardware ones, make up what Manny called CMK’s unique “peace of mind warranty.” The CMK Construction website explains why Tampa Bay consistently picks CMK Constructions for their remodeling needs: “That’s not the only reason that customers continue to hire our kitchen and bathroom remodeling company. We are a consistently top pick among Tampa homeowners because we offer a wide range of products and services. Whether you want a complete bathroom makeover
or just a standalone service, you can expect beautiful and long-lasting results. We have all the knowledge, skills, and resources that we need to complete any of your renovation goals.” With so many competitors out there, it is sometimes difficult to know who to choose. Anyone can place an ad saying they are a bath and kitchen remodeling contractor but ask yourself if they have 17 years of proven satisfied customer experience, at workforce of at least 70 skilled employees, have won multiple customer service awards, earned several certifications, and offer the Shluter’s lifetime leakproof guarantee, to name just a few of the many advantages of working with the CMK Construction professionals. If you can’t say yes to each of those questions, you need to call CMK Construction

today, your state certified general contractor, and enjoy your professionally installed remodel tomorrow. As Manny notes in the introduction to his website: “Your Tampa home is more than your refuge from the world-it is also one of your most important investments. That is why, when you are ready to invest in a bathroom remodel or a kitchen remodel, you need a remodeling contractor with a proven reputation for exceptional results.” Think CMK Construction. CMK Construction is moving to a new location at 13329 W. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa, FL 33635 (813) 767 0646, but the showroom is still temporarily at 440 Roberts Rd, Ste #4, Oldsmar, FL 34677 (727) 513 3185. Call or visit today. Tech Talk with Bob: Beware What You Post! Note From Bob: I AM NOT A LAWYER. Nor do I claim to be any kind of legal expert in any way. Do not rely on any of this information for legal purposes. It is intended for informational purposes only. Contact a legal professional should you have a need or concern to clarify any of the following you are about to read. And now on with the show… Social media websites can be a lot of fun. They can also be an excellent and efficient way to stay in touch with friends and family. They provide a platform to reach out and share your thoughts and ideas. A lot of people share their creativity online, whether it is writing articles, short stories, or poetry. Perhaps you may have shared your photography, paintings, sketches, or videos. Maybe you are a musician and want to share your songs. The popularity of these sites is obvious with the millions, and billions, of folks who use them daily. Social media websites can be a great outlet where you can tell your entire story, and usually for free. Ok, I know you are smart enough to realize that most free things in life come with a catch. Think about the websites you interact with and especially those sites where you post personal information about yourself. They usually have a “Terms of Service” or “Terms of Use” policy. If you use any social media websites, then you have agreed to their specific policy. Before most sites will let you post anything on them, you must agree to their policy terms whether you like them or not. Many social media website users have agreed to these policies without ever taking the time to read them. Are you one of them? Come on, you can tell me. I’m willing to bet you did not read their Terms of Use. If you didn’t, well, you’re not alone. Most people are so impatient with getting setup on a social media website that they don’t always read the “fine print.”

Sure, it’s in a small font and it’s long, so you just click “accept” and get on with your life. Right? Now, anything you post on their website is still your intellectual property, but now you have given them license to do pretty much anything they want with your stuff you post. Here is an excerpt from Facebook’s terms: “The permissions you give us. We need certain permissions from you to provide our services: 1) Permission to use content you create and share: Some content that you share or upload, such as photos or videos, may be protected by intellectual property laws. You own the intellectual property rights (things like copyright or trademarks) in any such content that you create and share on Facebook and the other Facebook Company Products you use. Nothing in these Terms takes away the rights you have to your own content. You are free to share your content with anyone else, wherever you want. However, to provide our services we need you to give us some legal permissions (known as a ‘license’) to use this content. This is solely for the purposes of providing and improving our Products and services as described in Section 1 above. Specifically, when you share, post, or upload content that is covered by intellectual property rights on or in connection with our Products, you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, and worldwide license to host, use, distribute, modify, run, copy, publicly perform or display, translate, and create derivative works of your content (consistent with your privacy and application settings). This means, for example, that if you share a photo on Facebook, you give us permission to store, copy, and share it with others (again, consistent with your settings) such as service providers that support our service or other Facebook Products you use. This license will
end when your content is deleted from our systems.” Facebook then goes on to tell you that even though you may have deleted your content and perhaps even closed your account; they still have license to your content if you have shared this content with another Facebook user who still has your content on their page. Now please understand, this is not an attack on Facebook or any other social media site. Regardless of the social media website(s) you may have joined, you will most likely find that these company’s policies are remarkably similar. And I certainly am not saying that social media sites are looking to usurp your content. But you should be aware of what you are allowing others to do with your content when you post to these websites. I highly encourage you to become completely familiar with the polices of any websites in which you post content that is personal and/or intellectual property that
you rather not license for free or for just anyone to use. You may not really care if any of your social media content is being freely used. However, you need to be aware of this, because someday you might prefer to be a little more selective about what you post online. Be Safer My Friend.
