Go Gold This September - Help Bring Awareness to Childhood Cancer September is here and I am still in disbelief. A lot of stores have Halloween and Christmas decorations out on display already, can you believe it? Whether time goes by slowly or incredibly fast for you, for those diagnosed with cancer every new day is a gift. Families, caregivers, charities and research groups across the United States observe September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. In the U.S. alone. approximately 16,000 children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with cancer every year; and 1/4 of them will not survive the disease. A diagnosis turns the lives of the entire family upside down. The objective of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is to put a spotlight on the types of cancer that largely affect children, survivorship issues, and -importantlyto help raise funds for research and family support. No matter how what you can contribute, a little does a lot. You can donate online by visiting the following trusted organizations:

National Pediatric Cancer Foundation: https://nationalpcf.org/ American Childhood Cancer Organization https://www.acco.org Children’s Cancer Research Fund childrenscancer.org. Children’s Cancer Center: http:// childrenscancercenter. org/ All donations to these charities are tax deductible since they have all been designated as a 501(c)(3) organization by the IRS. On these websites you can also learn about each organization, read stories from current patients battling cancer, share your own story, or even start a fundraiser. Another way to show your support during the month of September is by wearing gold all month long in your community. Gold is the national color for childhood cancer awareness. Unlike other cancer awareness ribbons, which focus on a singular type of cancer, the gold ribbon is a symbol for all forms of cancer affecting children and adolescents. You can make a safe Gold Ribbon, gold bracelet, gold earrings, charms, etc. purchase online from

a local Tampa company called Fundraising For A Cause: https://www. fundraisingforacause. com/ A lot of the orders ship the same day if placed by 3:00pm. EST. I would also like to take this opportunity to invite all of you to the 8th Annual Cheval Cares 5k Run/Walk event held by the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, and presented by Tampa Bay Insurance Partners, The Arndt Family, and JK Cancer Fund, Inc. The Even will be held on Saturday, September 28th at the Cheval Athletic Club and will feature a fundraising 5k through the Cheval neighborhood, followed by a family celebration at the playground and basketball court. Registration fees apply so please visit: https:// secure.qgiv.com/ event/cheval/ for more information and to register for the event. Your registration fee includes an event T-shirt, a spot in the 5k run/ walk, and admission to all the family fun areas. There will be live music, a bounce hose, food trucks, a silent auction and more. I will be attending the Cheval 5k with my family, and I hope to see all of your smiling faces there as well! Tech Talk with Bob: Another Phish Tale!

Phishing (pronounced “fishing”) is one of the many ways cyber criminals can attack you. It is the most popular strategy used by criminals to trick you into voluntarily handing them your personal data, your sensitive information, and sometimes your cash. In this type of attack, the criminal will attempt to extort cash from unwitting people by sending an email threatening to publicly humiliate the email recipient. Here’s an excerpt of one that ended up in my inbox just the other day. “Hello! I am a hacker who has access to your operating system. I also have full access to your account. I’ve been watching you for a few months now. The fact is that you were infected with malware through an adult site that you

6 SEPTEMBER 2019

visited. If you are not familiar with this, I will explain. Trojan Virus gives me full access and control over a computer or other device. This means that I can see everything on your screen, turn on the camera and microphone, but you do not know about it.” The email continues. “I also have access to all your contacts and all your correspondence. Why your antivirus did not detect malware? Answer: My malware uses the driver, I update its signatures every 4 hours so that your antivirus is silent.” The email then threatens to release alleged videos of the recipient to all of the recipient’s contacts. “With one click of the mouse, I can send this video to all your emails and contacts on social networks. I can

also post access to all your e-mail correspondence and messengers that you use.” Then they go in for the kill. “If you want to prevent this, transfer the amount of $500 to my bitcoin address. After receiving the payment, I will delete the video and you will never hear from me again. I give you 50 hours (more than 2 days) to pay. I have a notice reading this letter, and the timer will work when you see this letter. If I find that you have shared this message with someone else, the video will be immediately distributed. Best regards!” This social engineering technique has swindled cash from some recipients who received this email or one similar to it. Multiple versions of this email are circulating the

internet. So, what do you do if one of these emails ends up in your inbox? Immediately delete it. There really is no way to avoid these emails. Even if you use spam filters some will find their way through. Your best defense is internet safety awareness. As for this phish tale, you’ll be the smart one who got away because you didn’t take the bait. Be Safer Out There!

Dr. Jamie Melichar of Aspire Medical Group Brings Healthcare Solutions to Fellow Longtime Residents of New Port Richey Searching for quality medical care can be daunting these days. Looking for providers who will listen to patients’ concerns and include the patient in the type of care they receive can be overwhelming. Fortunately, a newly opened practice in New Port Richey is ready and willing to accept new patients and they aspire to listen to the concerns of their patients. Aspire Medical Group opened in May. While the practice is new to the community, the doctor providing the service is certainly not new to New Port Richey. Dr. Jamie Melichar grew up in New Port Richey. As a long time resident, she is eager to provide her medical knowledge to the friends, neighbors and residents of New Port Richey. Dr. Melichar graduated from Gulf High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Math Honor Society. She also served as president of the Student Council. Her interests in medicine began during her youth. “I was very interested in medicine as a kid so when I was 14, I volunteered at

North Bay Hospital. I then was selected for the Nurse Helper Program.” It was during her time there that she met Kristy Kahen, who at the time was the Emergency

Room Manager at North Bay. “Kristy hired me and later cross trained me to do other things,” Dr. Melichar explained. “So, I met Kristy when I was just 15 or 16 years old,”

she said. Today, Kristy Kahen serves Aspire Medical Group as the Nurse Practitioner serving patients alongside Dr. Melichar. After Dr. Melichar graduated from University of South Florida, she attended medical school and completed her residency in Largo. She worked as a doctor in community health for four years in Tarpon Springs before taking the leap to join Aspire Medical Group as a private practice. “It’s a fresh start,” she said of the decision to move away from a community based organization. “This is home to me and the house I grew up in is just about five minutes away from my office now,” she shared. Giving back to the community she loves is important to Dr. Melichar and that’s why she made the decision to continue her practice in the area in which she grew up. Nurse Practitioner Kristy Kahen is originally from Ohio and move to the Tampa Bay area in 1993. “I always knew I wanted to go into nursing and so I aligned my studies for the nursing program,” she said. Originally obtaining her LPN license, she worked her way into the RN program and later obtained her bachelor and master degrees in Family Practice. This is an incredible opportunity for Dr. Melichar and Kristy Kahen , ARNP, FNP to work together. “We’ve known each other for a very long time and we share the common goal of helping patients with their medical needs,” she said. The positive aspect of being part of a small practice allows Dr. Melichar and Kristy to really get to know their patients. In the larger practices, information can get lost in translation, Dr. Melichar explained. “Here, I want to be able to listen to our patients, get to know them individually and help them understand their bodies and

listen to their problems,” she said. “We have a calling for this,” she stated Kristy added, “We allow more time with our patients and we respect the fact that they know their own bodies and we include them when we make decisions. It’s a good partnership that we want,” she explained. The services provided by Aspire Medical Group encompass many patient types. “We can provide care to individuals 16 years and older,” Dr. Melichar said. This primary care practice can provide services to women seeking Pap smears to those patients seeking help with chronic Illnesses like diabetes and more. “We have a common cause here and that is to help people find their health. We want to get to know our patients and help educate them about

their health,” Dr. Melichar added. Office Manager Christina James is on hand to help you set an appointment that works best for you and answer any questions you might have. Currently, they accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Evolutions/Optum, Prime Health and Medicare insurances. Call Aspire Medical Group at 727807-5900 today to set your appointment. ALLPRO Tree and Landscaping Inc. Residents of Pinellas, Pasco, and Hillsborough counties have access to one of the country’s premier tree and landscaping service providers in Allpro Tree and Landscaping. Whether you own a residential property or a business, Allpro landscaping and tree experts are at your service. They design impeccable landscaping, trim every type of tree, grind tree stumps, remove stumps, install and remove sod, place rock beds, lay mulch and perform all sorts of other yard-related duties. Allpro is ready to help you during the 2019 Hurricane Season The Saffir-Simpson Hurricane wind scale paints an informative picture of potential damage to your trees from a hurricane, particularly improperly pruned trees. Using a rating system of 1 – 5, it warns that, at 74 to 95 mph, a category 1 hurricane can cause damage. “Large branches of trees will snap, and shallowly rooted trees may be toppled,” possibly causing “extensive damage to power lines” creating outages that can last “a few to several days.” Downed trees can block roads, delaying the response time for emergency crews. Snapped branches can become lethal projectiles. The time to prepare is now. When you take the steps that you need to make your home secure, don’t forget one important element that is often overlooked and can cause damage to your home, your trees. The solution is not the removal of trees but taking proper preventative care of them. According to certified arborist and owner of ALLPRO Tree and Landscape Inc, Pete Spiridis, a lot was learned from the damage that was caused to and by neighborhood trees, during the 2018 hurricane season. He

14 SEPTEMBER 2019

said that “more of the trees that failed were improperly pruned trees.” Proper pruning not only improves your trees’ overall health, it ensures that your family will be able to enjoy the shade of their favorite trees for many years to come. Pete encourages you to call him at either (727-409-3315 or 813-244-9234) or visit the website at www.myallpro.com to make your appointment for a free, no obligation inspection of your trees. Arboreal diseases, detected early, can be controlled and cured. Unpruned or improperly pruned trees are more susceptible to disease than properly maintained ones. ALLPRO not only diagnoses and crafts unique landscaping solutions for your grounds and trees, but also uncovers any underlying causes that may be contributing to your tree/landscape issues. A full-service tree and landscaping service, ALLPRO provides tree trimming, tree removal, tree stump grinding, landscape design and installation as well as yard clean up and all landscaping services.

As Pete explains on his website, “Trees in urban areas of Tampa Bay endure especially brutal stimuli. Some trees do not have the genetic predisposition to deal with these forces.” At ALLPRO, the arborists “customtailor solutions that promote the health of your unique trees” If you are wondering if ALLPRO lives up to its reputation of providing “the elite service that you deserve,” as their website pledges, why don’t we just ask the experts? National online home service guru, Angie’s List, was impressed enough to present ALLPRO with their “Super Service Award.” The Better Business Bureau, who analyzes and rates companies, according to both the quality of the service they provide, and the complaints received about them, awarded ALLPRO Tree and Landscaping Inc. its highest rating, an A+! So many of their satisfied customers are also happy to confirm the excellence of the service that they received from ALLPRO. If word of mouth advertising is the best form of advertising, David K. is one of their best

advertisers. According to David, “the service from ALLPRO was phenomenal. They were very responsive to the initial inquiry, highly competitive for the work that needed to be completed and they were extremely professional when completing the work. We are extremely pleased with ALLPRO.” Roger M. agreed as well, noting that he had used ALLPRO to remove several trees for a pool. “Job well done and will use them again.“ Susan Y. said “We’re extremely pleased with Allpro. Pete immediately responded to our call for an estimate and gave us a prompt, thorough written bid. Our tree removal project began and was completed exactly on time and they left our property looking pristine. Work was excellent and the crew was experienced, professional and friendly. I would highly recommend Allpro Tree & Landscaping.” Douglas Z. also had many wonderful things about Allpro, on his 5 star google review he wrote, “Pete handled a major clean up, hedge trimming, mulching and tree trimming this past week.Five guys were here for two days and they worked hard. Very friendly, knowledgeable and dedicated to doing good work. The price was fair and we are very pleased with the results. I will use them again...I definitely recommend this company.” With hurricane season in full effect, while you are preparing your home, don’t forget your trees. Dead branches and overhanging limbs represent potential hazards. The folks at ALLPRO are ready to help. Just call (727-409-3315 or 813-244-9234) and don’t forget your free, no obligation inspection. The Gregg Schindler State Farm Student Athletes of the month for September: Carson Kruger & Marysa Connors

By Morgan Fliss Carson Kruger, a senior at J.W. Mitchell High School is the September Male Gregg Schindler Athlete of the Month Last year was no ordinary season for varsity swimmer Carson Kruger. Kruger set multiple school records and even reached new personal bests in many of his events. He holds the school record in the 200 and 500-meter freestyle. Along with teammates Austin Erickson (’20), Harrison Fischer (’22) and Aidan Milton (’20), Kruger was an integral part of breaking the school record for the 400-freestyle relay. After school season ended, Kruger continued swimming at the Tampa Bay Aquatic Club throughout the entire summer. He practiced 15 hours every week to perfect his technique in order to improve for his last high school season. Kruger powers through the water with the end of season meets in his sights. “[My goals for this season] are to get in the top three at states in the 500 free and in the top five for the 200 free. I am looking forward to conference because I want to [earn] a couple of

18 SEPTEMBER 2019

This season, Coach Kelly Erickson named Kruger as one of the captains of the Mitchell swim and dive team for his senior year. “As a captain, Carson leads by example. His work ethic has improved each year, and when he’s at practice, while he can certainly crack jokes and have fun, when it’s time to work he knows how to kick it into gear,” Erickson said. Kruger worked countless hours in the pool, setting his sights on competing the sport that he loves in college. “I plan on going to college for swimming. I have been talking to the Naval Academy a lot, and I am going to a visit up there

soon. I am also talking to a lot of other schools as well so I am definitely planning on swimming in college,” Kruger said. With swim season underway, Kruger already achieved some of his personal bests, including swimming a 1:43 on the 200 free and 4:35 on the 500 free. He continues to improve at every meet. “Carson is an outstanding student athlete and it is a privilege as a coach to get to work with someone like him, and watch his development over the years,” Erickson said. By Ashley Hoskins The September Female Gregg Schindler Athlete of the Month is senior, Marysa Connors. After playing varsity volleyball for two years, Marysa Connors plans

on continuing her efforts as she prepares to make the leap to college. For half of her life, volleyball helped Connors grow as an individual. “I really love the sport and it pretty much saved me. I was a shy girl in middle school, I didn’t really have a lot of friends and I was overweight. I got more social, got all of my friends, and you get a bond with people,” Connors said. The sport sparked new bonds and created everlasting friendships for Connors. With friends and family by her side, she grew on and off the court. “Being on the team is like a second family. If you’re having a bad day, you go to practice and change it around by being with your teammates and playing the sport you love rather than just going home and having your family like normal, but it’s like a second family that no one else would understand,” Connors said. Playing a sport comes with facing challenges every day. During her sophomore year, Connors tore her ACL. She had to change positions completely, have surgery, and recover in three and a half months. “From that point on I decided

Marysa Conners laying down a massive spike! (photo by Hailey Kroll) I’m playing in college one hundred and ten percent. I just worked really hard and I ended up committing my junior year, so it only took me a year and a half to get that scholarship in a new position,” Connors said. Since the season started on Aug. 16 until

press time, the team achieved an undefeated record, with Connors playing the libero position and leading the team’s defense. “If there’s ever a problem because we’re a young team, this year for Mitchell you just have to stay loud and happy. As a

libero, you have to always be upbeat, and if you have a bad attitude, it rubs off on the entire team and if you have a good attitude,” Connors said. Connors plans on attending Saint Leo University in 2020 and fulfilling her dreams as a star athlete. Having a younger sibling influences her to step and become a leader. “I chose Saint Leo because my younger sister, Ava, who’s a freshman this year on varsity with me and she obviously wants to play in college too, and I want to be able to go to her games and help coach her. I’m really close with her, so I want to see her grow up,” Connors said. Preparing to take the next step in her life, Connors works to ensure her future success and form endless memories with her upcoming team. Congratulations to these two talented athletes!

“TCBY” - Story Continued From Page 1 General Manager and coowner Jenifer Silar-Mills, stays true to that commitment and more at her TCBY location at the Mitchell Ranch Plaza in Trinity. It’s a family affair for SilarMills as her parents, Patti and Jay Silar are co-owners as well. All take pride in the quality of products and service they deliver to folks in the Trinity area seeking a refreshing treat without the guilt associated with most desserts. In 2010, Jay and Patti discovered a self-serve TCBY yogurt store and liked what they tasted! Though retired, they saw this as a great business opportunity. After doing their research on the company, they discovered TCBY is the oldest frozen yogurt company in the country, celebrating 38 years this year, since September 1981. They opened in August 2011 and celebrated eight years of success in August. In that same year, TCBY introduced their Super Fro-Yo. The standards required to meet this category of yogurt include four or more grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, seven types of live or active cultures, low in fat and no more than 120 calories per serving. Super Fro-Yo is also a great source of calcium and vitamin D. No guessing is involved when trying to select one of the more nutritional options, as all the flavors meet the Super Fro-Yo standards.

22 SEPTEMBER 2019

Variety of products = something for everyone! There truly is something at TCBY for everyone. Vegan, GMO, gluten and dairyfree products are offered as well. A no sugar added and Greek yogurts are also among the selection of flavors. Flavors are often changed so if you’ve been there recently, go again because chances are, the choice of flavors have changed since you were there last. Want more than one flavor? You’re in luck! Each of the five self-serve yogurt machines features two compatible flavor options. If you want to combine both flavors of a particular machine, you can swirl the two flavors together for a double delight! For example, the traditional favorites, vanilla, and chocolate are always among the selection of one machine. Patrons can fill cups with one flavor or swirl them together. Seasonal flavors are also featured at different times of the year such as peach during the summer months and pumpkin during the fall and winter seasons.

If Super Fro-Yo isn’t healthy enough for you, Patti explains they always have what she calls “the healthy machine.” It’s the machine which features the no sugar added and Greek flavors, which are both non-fat selections. The no sugar added flavors that are rotated every two weeks and include flavors like chocolate chip mint, cappuccino, butter pecan, blueberry delight, lemon custard, salted caramel, and pistachio nut. The Greek yogurt is flavored with honey and vanilla and contains more protein, calcium, fiber, and probiotics than any other Froyo. “Our products really are a healthy treat no matter what you pick,” Patti said. “TCBY yogurt is patented and

made only for us, so you will not find our superior quality anywhere else,” said Jay. “All the flavors are also kosher and Halal certified,” he added. There’s more to TCBY than meets the eye If you still want the nutritional value of yogurt for your ice-cold treat but crave the added crunch of an ice cream cone, TCBY offers that option, too! Their hand-dipped yogurt case features a variety of flavors that can be nestled into a waffle cone or bowl for your added enjoyment!

The variety does not end

at flavor selection. With more than fifty toppings to choose from, the fun is just beginning! Sprinkles, chunks of cookie dough, candies, chocolate chips, fresh fruits and more adorn the toppings bar. Squeezable toppings such as marshmallow, Hershey’s syrup, raspberry, coffee, and salted caramel are flavor options. If hot fudge or caramel is your preference, they’ve got you covered there as well as both are always on hand and available. After making your yogurt flavor selection, don’t forget to check out the options available in freezer display! Frozen yogurt

Cakes and Pies are available, all made in house, reasonably priced with a multitude of choices in yogurt, cake, crusts, toppings, and icing colors. The new alternative “Party To Go” allows you to order yogurt and toppings ahead of time and simply stop by and pick it up, and it will be ready for your special occasion. Also available are Yogwiches which feature flavored frozen yogurt sandwiched between two outer layers of Oreo cookie. The freezer selection also caters to those who want to take home the refreshing dessert. Fro-yo pints are ready to grab and go! A great place to be on both sides of the counter TCBY regulars, Dede Dickinson and Rae McMann are walking testimonies of quality of products and customer service they receive at TCBY. These ladies work at the nearby Medical Center of Trinity. “We have to be careful about what we have for lunch every day so we can have room for this. It’s our ritual,” chuckled Dede. Rae added, “We just love it. One of my favorites is cake batter with

hot fudge!” For the owners, creating a great atmosphere for customer’s means creating happy employees as well. Everyone at the store enjoys working for the Silars. Patti explained for those seeking a first job, it’s important to them to provide a safe, supervised and fun opportunity. “This is a family store and emphasize customer service, greet each customer and serve samples, the same as you would welcome a guest in your home.” Many of the customers seen daily are familiar faces. At TCBY Trinity, they love to give back. “We try the best we can to help those in need and contribute to the common good,” said Patti. “We get involved through donations, fundraisers and spirit nights for schools, churches, and nonprofit organizations to earn money.” Stop in soon for your nutritious summer cool-down treat! “Laurie Neiman” Story Continued From Page 1 Part of the team also includes Florida Abstract & Title, a company owned by Steven Jonas, who is a real estate attorney, and the closer is Janet Walsh. “Together Steven and Janet provide smooth closings for my transactions as well,” she said. “Having the right people in place is what helps make it easier on my customers.” Laurie helps the customers put all the pieces together; whether you need a mover, electrician, a/c or more… Laurie is there to assist you every step of the way! Laurie was involved in Real Estate since a very early age. “I grew up around the Real Estate business. My mother, Marie Powell, was well known for changing and moving forward, and was my mentor,” Laurie said. Once she reached high school, Laurie worked at her mom’s office on weekends answering the phones and helping other agents. After high school graduation, she went right back to working in the real estate business. Laurie then earned her sales associates license, and by 1978, she earned her brokers’ license. “I learned

early the dedication and care needed to list, sell and rent properties,” she recalled. By 1991, Laurie became the broker/ owner of the two offices her mother had developed for 16 years. Fast forward to today, Laurie works for Re/Max Advantage Realty. “I feel that this has propelled my career forward,” she said. The Broker/Owner Re/Max Advantage Realty, Rachel Gallagher, has been very supportive in moving Laurie’s career to the

next level. Laurie has some very notable accomplishments; Reaching the Chairman’s Club with Re/Max with 113 sales on close to 22 million in volume, and receiving recognition from Re/Max for being #10 as an individual in 2018 for sales in Florida & Georgia Region. Also, in Real Trends, Laurie was #32 for the state of Florida as an Individual realtor in sales. As for the “sellers,” she said, “I

can understand and relate to every client. Every seller has their own unique story and reason for selling their home.” Laurie went on to relate that selling a home can be a long process, and she, as an agent, aims to guide every client through each step of the way. When Laurie lists a property, she puts in the time and effort to make sure each home has the right marketing campaign attached to it to be sold quickly. This campaign includes professional photos, color flyers, postcards, social media, and more. “I work to be sure that I take care of every detail to ensure a sale,” Laurie said. Her drive, she said, is her passion for making a positive difference in someone else’s life. “My job is complete when I help

the customer put the pieces together to complete their plan and goals,” she said. In today’s market, she explains, inventory is at its lowest. “We are experiencing a seller’s market, as long as a sellers’ home is appropriately prepared, priced and well marketed,” she said. For a buyer, this means that you need to be ready when the call comes for a quick decision. When it comes to what she looks for in a client, Neiman knows the importance of listening to clients and their needs. “I look for customers who want and need my professional experience,” she said. Neiman offers experience and knowledge to get the job done by putting the pieces together and caring for them personally. If you’re looking to downsize or to increase

your living space, Neiman can help you get just what you’re looking for. Listening to clients is key for Neiman. “I specialize in listening to my clients carefully and having an impeccable knowledge of the current market and the available listings,” she said. “I enjoy being a comforting hand to guide each client through each step of the moving process.” If you’re in the market to sell your home, Neiman has suggestions for that as well. She advises the seller to prep the inside and outside of the house. “Pretend you’re trying to make a great impression for anyone who drives by or walks in,” said Laurie. “Simple things like updating the curb appeal to your home, de-cluttering closets, and pantries, and having the home professionally cleaned, can make a big difference when showing your home to strangers,” she added. Buyers, Laurie said, should look for a home in which they can imagine seeing themselves living in for the next five or more years. Cosmetic changes, she said, can be easily changed. She advises buyers to look at the “bones” of the home that you can live with, or you may want to change. Laurie has many years of service to the association of Realtors. She has served as President of West Pasco Board of Realtors, 2001 President of Greater Clearwater Association of Realtors, 2011 President of Hernando Association of Realtors. She was named Realtor of the Year in both 1987 and 2002. She was also named “Humanitarian Of The Year” for Florida Realtors, Realtor Achievement and many other awards. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lutz: A Place of Hope that Feels like Home By Kelly Stuart Williams, MA Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lutz is more than a place of worship at 20735 Leonard Road; it is a community resource that features the Little Lambs Preschool, Heaven’s Kitchen (event venue and catering), 4th Sunday Bunco, and community outreach events ranging from Blood Drives to Rummage Sales. Two Sunday Worship services are held at 8:00am and 10:00am, and many members and guests enjoy coffee and networking time between services. Adult Bible Study is available on Sundays and Thursdays, and Sunday School and a church nursery is provided for children. Pastor Steven Naylor said, “As you can see, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church has more than Sunday worship service, and we certainly enjoy the friends,

fellowship, and food. However, our main focus is to bring hope to all: a hope that abounds no matter where we are in life. Whether we are surrounded by the life of a child or important events in life such as graduation or marriage, or if we struggle in our personal lives, or even when we face death itself; we at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church share hope. This hope is not in

ourselves but on the Gospel of Christ crucified and resurrected; it is based on His forgiveness from what He has done for each of us. So, come and enjoy the friends, fellowship, and food, but stay for the forgiveness of sins given to us by Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.” Holy Trinity Lutheran held the first Lutheran worship service in Land O’Lakes in

April 1973, when 15 adults and five (5) children attended the first service at Land O’Lakes Community Center. Sunday School classes were held in the “open air” pavilion, behind the community center. Since that time, Holy Trinity Lutheran has gone from a “church without walls” to a community venue and early childhood education center that welcomes the public into a “place to call home.” Most recently, a new nursery has been updated in the church to accommodate our youngest members, and the growing Little Lambs Preschool provides early learning and care: full-time or part- time. After school and before school programs are available as well as a VPK program, for ages 1 - 11. Other programs include Drop-In Care, Tumbling Bug, and Happy Feet Soccer.

Programs are offered at a nominal price with discounts available for multi-children (5%) and church member discounts (10%). Holy Trinity Lutheran offers a unique, Christian-based program that is licensed by the state of Florida and lead by experienced, certified teachers and assistants. Little Lambs is a non-profit preschool featuring spacious classrooms and a large fenced playground with a variety of age appropriate toys and equipment. Heaven’s Kitchen is an onsite event venue and catering service that offers facility usage as well as full, onsite food preparation and serving. The activity center can accommodate up to 200 people comfortably in a well-appointed, modern meeting facility. It can be configured for a variety of functions from seminars to formal dining events. The presence of a stage and big screen (for audiovisual presentations) creates a perfect setting for meetings, and ample parking is available on the grounds. The center has accommodated events ranging from wedding receptions to corporate meetings; from

birthday parties to anniversary celebrations; and Heaven’s Kitchen can provide the catering, or hosts may choose to bring in food from the outside and cater the event themselves. For those who prefer to use the Church’s catering service, Heaven’s Kitchen can provide menus ranging from fish fries to formal fare that includes a variety of hearty, enticing menus created by skilled specialists. The fully equipped, commercialstyle kitchen is geared toward meeting the culinary needs of even the largest event. And event planning professionals are available to help plan and execute any occasion.

The Holidays will soon be upon us, so Heaven’s Kitchen would be delighted to host and cater your family or office celebration. Please call the church directly at 813-9497173, or contact our Heaven’s Kitchen mission director, Harvey Rhinehart, at 813-777-4852 (mobile), or hrjr@verizon.net. Whether looking for a new church home, an event venue, or state of the art childcare, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is known for being one of the most friendly and welcoming churches, “I had been a member of another church and visited Holy Trinity Lutheran for the first time. I was awe struck by how

many people greeted me and made me feel welcome and at home,” said Debbie Tuttle. Debbie’s words are aligned with the vision and mission of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, “Our vision and mission are simple: worship God, bless others, and build community.” Guests are welcome and encouraged to visit.
