A Labor Day Message & Special Thanks By the time some of you read this, Labor Day will have already come and gone. Regardless of the timing, I hope you all had a wonderful and safe weekend with your loved ones. For most people, “Labor Day” means two things; a day off and a chance to say goodbye to the summer. But do you know the meaning behind it? Labor Day is a day set aside to pay tribute to working men and women. It has been celebrated as a national holiday in the United States and Canada since 1894. Labor Day was a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the incredible contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. I know a lot of us are struggling these days, so many have lost their jobs, others have had to shut down their longstanding businesses. It hasn’t been easy, but we cannot give up! I have had one of the hardest years of my entire life. I have been challenged physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically, and financially. As I am sure, a lot of you have as well. These past two months, I have focused my editorials on maintaining positivity through COVID19, on keeping the faith and staying strong throughout these unprecedented times. The words of encouragement I share with you are also a reminder to myself. I have been blessed to receive so many beautiful messages from some of our readers this past couple of weeks, and I wanted to say thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for all your kind words. I am touched that so many of you have taken the time to personally write to me to thank me for my latest articles. Knowing that I can touch someone’s life,

or that I said something that brightened someone’s day, makes a massive difference in my life. All the sadness, the frustrations, even the body aches, and pain seem to subside with your kind and positive words. I want to take a moment to send a special message to Carneal Overton. First of all, I am very sorry for the loss of your mother—my deepest condolences, Carneal. As someone who lost her father not long ago, my heart breaks for you. I still cry a lot and miss him dearly, but I take comfort knowing my father is in Heaven watching over my family and me, and hopefully one day we can be together again. I appreciated your message so much it brought me to tears. I will say a special prayer for your mother and you, Carneal; you’re both in my thoughts. Thank you for reaching out. Thank you for letting me know that my words of encouragement helped you keep the faith. Stay strong Carneal, and this too shall pass. As for everyone else who wrote to me, Lindsay W., Jackie J., Robert D., Mary E. B., and everyone else who takes comfort in my words, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You are the reason I love what I do, and you are what our magazines are all about; a local community of supporting and encouraging individuals coming together for the common good, helping one another stay positive and motivated through the ups and downs. Stay strong, everyone, stay safe, keep wearing your masks, keep social distancing, but keep supporting your local businesses, keep on keeping on. We will pull through! Until next time,

Carla M. Dubis Tedeschi.

Ray Ferrara, President of ProVise Management raised the most bail with $15,830 and Keith Kunzig (AKA Big Nasty) had the most donors with 61 donors! Other felons included David Siracusa, Com-

missioner Jack Mariano, Steve Farrell and Terald Hopkins. 2 children also attended and received therapy trikes which will provide physical therapy all while having fun. The trikes strengthen

their legs and cores. Executive Director of Wheelchairs 4 Kids was amazed at the event’s success given the current situation. “We had canceled this event in April due to the pandemic, but our donations were down 70% in the last 5 months and we realized that we needed to figure out how to make it work while being safe. Thankfully, these community leaders stepped up and were willing to either come out in person or participate via ZOOM. I never dreamed it would be this successful. It doesn’t get us back to where we should be but it is a huge step. We can help a lot of kids with this money.” The organization is currently working on 38 requests for help and have an additional 12 on a waitlist. Bob the Computer Guy: STOP: Before Repairing Your PC! Imagine this. The computer you bought from that big box store seven months ago no longer works. No problem, it’s still under warranty. You call the manufacturer and get a return authorization from them. You pack and ship your computer to them. Today, two months later, you are finally getting it back from the manufacturer and cannot wait to get it up and running. You hit the switch and it boots right up. Seems to be running as fast as it did when you bought it. Wow! This booting speed reminds you of why you bought the computer in the first place. In almost no time your system is up and ready to go, however you notice that your desktop doesn’t quite look the same way you had it before you sent it for repair. Upon further investigation you real-

ize that some of your newest programs are missing, you cannot access your printer, and most importantly, all your pictures, videos, music and other data is nowhere to be found. Your computer works great, but all of your personal stuff is gone. You call the manufacturer to ask about your missing pictures and documents and other data. Suddenly you find out that the only obligation the manufacturer had to you under the warranty was to repair or replace your computer to the way it was the day you brought it home from the store and took it out of the box. You learn the hard way that your missing programs, data, etc. are your problem. You were supposed to back all that stuff up before you sent your computer in for repair; but nobody tells you that. Many people

Bob Dalles, owner Bob the Computer Guy find themselves in this predicament every day. Well I’m telling you now, so after reading this, you’ll know what to do. Computers are viewed by some people as being no different than any other electronic appliance; like an electronic coffee maker. Electronic coffee makers use a combination

of hardware and software to make them function. However, the software that runs your coffee maker is not as sophisticated as the software that runs your computer. People typically do not differentiate between the hardware and software aspects of a computer system. The truth is, where the software in your coffee maker never changes, the software in your computer is constantly changing. Especially your data files as you add and delete your music, pictures and other personal documents. All this information is stored on your computer’s hard disk drive (HDD). Your HDD stores all computer software information including your personal and unique computer information. This unique information is created over time as you use your

For Advertising Info 727-943-0551 I info@nnlflorida.com or visit tbnewsandlifestyles.com

computer system by adding programs, printers, data, etc. All these changes alter the contents of your HDD. When you send your computer to the manufacturer for repair, your HDD may be physically replaced by having a new HDD installed into your computer or logically replaced by having all the information on the HDD erased and then rewritten with the information the HDD had on it when your computer was new out of the box. Think of it this way. If you ever had the battery in your car replaced, the first thing you probably learned when you got back into your car is that all your radio preset stations have been wiped out due to the battery being disconnected. The auto repair shop’s responsibility is not to restore your radio presets but to replace your car’s battery with a working one. You’ll just have to reprogram those preset

stations all over again. The same is true of your computer. Important information can be lost during your computer’s repair. Important personal data, like rare family photos, or that business proposal you’ve been working on all week, may be impossible to replace. It is always your responsibility to make sure you have what you need to restore the programs and data you have added to your computer since you bought it. But most people do not figure this out until it’s too late. So how do you minimize your data loss when you need your computer system repaired? The first thing you do is make certain that all your personal data is backed up. This can be difficult if your computer will not turn on. Even if your computer will not turn on, it may still be possible that your data can be extracted from the HDD before

you send your computer off for repair. If you are not familiar with how to get your data backed up, give us a call. We do stuff like this every day and can painlessly manage all of this for you. The next thing you will need are the installation disk and/or files for any software you added to the computer after you bought it. Make sure you have all your installation media and product keys so these items can be reinstalled with as little trouble as possible. A list of your email and website user names and passwords are also going to need to be reentered the first time you try to access any of the secured websites you visit. If you are not sure if you have everything you need to recover all of the additions you made to your computer since you bought it, contact a professional computer technician to help you get all your ducks

The Tree Service and Landscape Design Pros By Morgan Fliss A beautiful garden and strong trees add the perfect curbside appeal to any business or home. But like any feature, the value will not increase without proper care and attention. Trees are no exception! Whether you need to remove a potentially hazardous tree or boost your curb appeal, certified local arborist and ALLPRO owner Pete Spiridis, and his professional team of experts can gladly and affordably take care of your tree or landscaping needs. If you leave tree trimming to the professionals at ALLPRO, you and your trees will be in the best hands. All arborists use high-quality equipment that is industry approved. The ALLPRO “team is experienced, skilled, fully licensed, and insured.” Pete and the ALLPRO experts are at your service no matter if you own a residential property or a business. Their services include designing impeccable landscaping, trimming every type of tree, grinding/removing tree stumps, installing and removing sod, placing rock beds, and laying mulch, just to name a few. Happy customer, Susan, gave nothing but compliments to Pete and the ALLPRO experts. “We’re extremely pleased with the ALLPRO. Pete immediately responded to our call for an estimate and gave us a prompt, thorough, written bid. Our tree removal project began and was completed exactly on time and they left our property looking pristine. The work was excellent, and the crew was experienced, professional, and friendly. I would highly recommend ALLPRO Tree and Landscaping,” Susan said. Hurricane and Severe Weather Damage? ALLPRO To The Rescue! Tampa Bay is the lightning capital of the United States so there is clearly no shortage of lightning, hurricanes, severe winds, and heavy rain. Pete explains that “trees in the urban areas of Tampa Bay endure especially brutal stimuli. Some trees do not have the genetic predisposition to deal with these forces.” However, at ALLPRO, the arborists

“custom-tailor solutions that promote the health of your unique trees and landscapes.” ALLPRO is ready to help during the 2020 Hurricane Season. The professionals show that a category one hurricane with winds at 74 to 95 miles per hour can still cause damage. “Large branches of trees will snap, and shallowly rooted trees may be toppled,” possibly causing “extensive damage to power lines,” creating outages that can last a “few to several days.” Downed trees can block roads, delaying the response for emergency crews, and snapped branches can become lethal projectiles. “After the recent heavy winds in Tampa, we ended up with a palm tree and old landscaping mess,” says Mary H. “Pete and his staff took care of three fallen palm trees, and he designed a new, clean look that meshed with some exciting new landscaping. The job was beautiful, and we could not be happier! We got what we paid for as promised and on time!” The time to prepare is now. When you take the steps that you need to make your home secure, don’t forget one crucial element that is often overlooked and can cause damage to your home, your trees. The solution is not the removal of trees but taking proper preventative care of them. According to Pete, “more of the trees that failed during the 2018 and 2019 Hurricane seasons were improperly

pruned trees.” Proper pruning not only improves your trees’ overall health, but it also ensures that your family will be able to enjoy the shade of their favorite trees for many years to come. Tree Trimming, Removal, and Stump Grinding From creating a dangerous threat to the health of your home or causing an infestation of insects, it is extremely important to have your trees professional trimmed often. There are many safety and aesthetic reasons to get your tree trimmed, but no matter the reason, ALLPRO Tree and Landscaping is here to help. ALLPRO serves the Tampa Bay area including Pinellas, Pasco, and Hillsborough county. The experts at ALLPRO analyze and trim each tree in a unique matter, to make a huge impact. They will always work with you to formulate a trimming plan that meets all of your needs. “Overgrown trees should be trimmed as soon as possible. If your trees are young, it is especially important that you have a professional trim them sooner rather than later. Pruning trees at a young age is the ideal way to spur growth and ward off issues that could arise as the tree matures,” Peter says on his website. As well as trimming trees, ALLPRO is the place to go when you need to remove trees that are causing problems to your house or business. Fully licensed experts from ALLPRO will use the necessary

equipment to remove your tree in a safe and timely matter. “Call us up for tree removal services and you will enjoy a calming sense of peace, knowing that your property will be tended to by the best tree experts in all of Tampa Bay and Clearwater. We remove every type of tree, from those gigantic palm trees to southern live oak trees, citrus trees, and beyond,” said Pete on his website. ALLPRO also provides affordable stump grinding that eliminates the entire stump as well as its root ball. Experts will grind your tree stump without having any negative impacts on your land such as big holes or damage to sewer lines. Customers continually share nothing but great things about their experiences with ALLPRO. “ALLPRO was very responsive to the initial inquiry, highly competitive for the work that needed to be completed and they were extremely professional when completing the work. They took care of all the permits and were flexible with the scheduling of the service. When they arrived, they immediately got to work and performed the work in one day. I would HIGHLY recommend using them for any work of this nature that you need to be completed,” customer, David said. Another client, Julie K, gave ALLPRO a five-star review by saying “Not only did he cut the tree down, but he cleaned my gutters, cleaned my roof, planted sod down where he grinded the stump. He did a very professional job, pulled a permit, and had to remove a panel of our wood fence. They [even] replaced it better than it was on before. This company is honest, reasonable, and very willing to go the extra mile. I love this company and I can’t say good enough

things about them!” Experts in Landscape Design and Installation Every stunning yard has its origin in exemplary landscape design and installation. ALLPRO Tree and Landscaping staffs highly creative designers who relish the opportunity to work with clients to create gorgeous landscape plans. “Our goal is to build an aesthetically pleasing landscape that requires minimal maintenance and satisfies you in every possible way,” says Pete. ALLPRO has landscape design and installation down to a science. The result is always a majestic landscape that holds its beauty across posterity. ALLPRO Tree and Landscaping goes beyond the basics of landscape design. “We make every effort to stay within clients’ budget limits,” says Pete. “Furthermore, we get the job done with incredible speed. You won’t have to worry about our team dragging their feet and

occupying your property longer than necessary. We strive to plan and build landscaping in as little time as possible to ensure that you are provided with landscape design and installation of the highest quality.” If you are wondering if ALLPRO lives up to its reputation of providing “the elite service that you deserve,” as their website pledges, why don’t we ask the experts? National online home service guru, Angie’s List, was impressed enough to present ALLPRO with its “Super Service Award.” The Better Business Bureau, who analyzes and rates companies, according to both the quality of the service they provide and the complaints received about them, awarded ALLPRO Tree and Landscaping Inc. its highest rating, an A+! ONE OF THE TOP SAT AND ACT TUTORS IN THE COUNTRY IS RIGHT HERE IN TAMPA BAY

Greater Tampa Bay enjoys a unique resource in helping students and families have their best possible futures, including students doing their best on the SAT and ACT Exams so important for College Entrance and Bright Futures Scholarships. The former Dean of a Graduate School of Business and Full Professor, Dr. Wayne Adams has created an exceptional and unique package that builds on his extensive experience including degrees and advanced studies at Harvard, Yale, Vanderbilt, Columbia International, and Luther Rice. If you ask Dr. Adams what he does, his answer is quite interesting: “I help my students and their families have their best possible futures, including doing their best on the SAT and ACT Exams.” HIS STUDENTS NORMALLY

16 SEPTEMBER 2020

IMPROVE 200 – 350 POINTS ON THE SAT TOTAL SUPERSCORE, AND 4 – 7 POINTS ON THE ACT COMPOSITE. A major reason for his outstanding results are the special techniques and learning skills developed over many years. These include teaching students how to speed-read at 1,000+ words per minute: multiple memory aids to triple a student’s speed of learning and remembering vocabulary; reverse engineering that doubles “learning and retention speed”; many additional math techniques to improve speed, reduce errors, and handle the “ultra-hard” questions; “bottom up” reading for key ideas and concepts, and structured essay writing following his guides. He believes that half of a student scoring well is mental. So much of his course include

mental techniques such as “Having fun taking the test,” defining success as “When you finish the exam, walk out of the room, and look back on all we have done … he simply wants you to say to yourself, ‘I have done the very best with the time and priorities that I had.’”; taking

a three-part “Mental Break” when concentration starts to fade; and seeing an exam as their opportunity to show just how well they can do which reduces an enormous amount of mental pressure so the student can stay in their “high performance zone”. WHAT STUDENTS SAY

ABOUT DR. ADAMS AND THE CLASSES. “This is not the average, boring class. I will learn.” “I really liked the involvement in the sessions, rather than just teaching from a book.” “Learning the structure of the Essay was great.” “When I started, I took a 25 question vocabulary test right away and got 5 out of 25 correct. After his intensive vocab “memory hooks” approach, I retook the test and got 23 correct. Wow! ” “I have never had a teacher who has so many creative and effective ways to help me learn. And I like the style of the classes, which are like college seminars taught by a full professor. ” “The time goes by so fast.” “We work. We learn. It’s worth it.” WHAT PARENTS SAY ABOUT DR. ADAMS AND THE CLASSES. “You helped our daughter qualify as a National Merit Finalist and helped our family in college planning. Now she is a freshman at a “Top 25” school with a summer studying at Cambridge U in England. Thank you so much.” “When our son took your class as a ninth grader, his baseline scores on the SAT were around 700. When he took the exam, he scored 1100 and qualified for the Duke TIP Program. This score was higher than the average score for a senior.” “Our daughter needed had scored a 14 on the ACT and needed an 18 to satisfy FCAT and graduate with her class. Thanks to you, she scored a 20!” “Our daughter had an excellent GPA and high standing in her IB Program, but her SAT scores were around 1150. After your class, she scored over 1400. Thank you.” “Not only did our son improve his scores, he is doing far better in English at school because of the critical thinking and writing skills he learned in your class.” “We are so excited because our daughter just learned she was

accepted for Early Admission to Princeton, and will be going in the fall. Your major increases in her ACT and her SAT scores were a major reason.” If You Would Like To Talk More With Dr. Adams About Your Student … Please contact him at 727-253-0639 or send an email to wwa0811@mykolab.com. Classes are on-line via Zoom, or on-site at the East Lake Lutheran Church of the Resurrection at the intersection of East Lake Rd and Ridgmoor/Village across from the Publix shopping center and Lansbrook Golf Course. On-site classes are COVID compliant and private. Dr. Wayne Adams is one of the leading SAT and ACT tutors in the country. His students normally improve 200 – 350 points on the Writing, Reading, Writing and Essay, and Math, and 4 – 7 points on the ACT composite. They have been admitted to 9 of the “Top 10” universities in the country, 18 of the “Top 25”, and many schools in Florida. Italian roots actually trace back to the Philly Cheesesteak itself, when two Italian brothers, Pat and Harry, crafted the original steak sandwich in Philly in the thirties. And just a little while after they opened their restaurant, Ben’s grandfather, a true Italian known by many as “Reynolds,” came to America and opened his own Philly Cheesesteak shop in the ‘40s. He called the restaurant, “Rinaldo’s Hoagie Shop,” which is still serving customers in South Philly today. Though Ben’s family no longer owns the establishment, the chees-

esteak legacy continues to live on here at family-owned Best of Philly in Tampa Bay! Some customers, like Jeff, believe Best of Philly has the “Best cheesesteaks in the Tri-County Area.” And he is not alone – others from Philly compare the sandwiches as something worth writing home about or even something worth bringing home! Check out this review by big Best of Philly fan, “Philly Joe”: “I’ve lived in FL for 25 yrs. and have tried a lot of so called Philly cheesesteaks. This is by far the best I’ve had. The rolls are from Philly, the meat is

from Philly. They make them big as well. What you get at Best of Philly would be considered double meat anywhere in Philly. I’m telling you they are packed. The best referral I can give you is that I have a friend that visits from Philly and he brings these cheesesteaks back home with him!!! How’s that for a testimonial? I’ve referred many people there and none have been disappointed. Take it from me, I was born and raised in Philly. Enjoy, Philly Joe.” As Ben does say, Best of Philly’s cheesesteaks rival his old home of South Philly when it comes to flavor and quality. Another cheesesteak enthusiast named Sharon agrees: “Best of Philly has amazing

cheesesteaks!!! Only place I’ve found after 13 years in Florida that is comparable to the ones from home (and is actually better than some of the places I used to order from up there!).” You obviously can’t go wrong with a Philly Cheesesteak from Best of Philly, but keep in mind that the hoagie shop offers a variety of other satisfying selections on their menu, whether it be a good ole’ hamburger, a meatball parm, a cold hoagie or a turkey club! Best of Philly also offers cash specials and combos of chips, fries, and sodas to complete your meal. And for those who just want to kick back without having to step foot anywhere, the cheesesteak house delivers to the lo-

cal area! Order a delicious and filling meal of $10 or more, and your delivery fee is only a $1! Best of Philly is currently open Tuesday through Saturday, from 11:30AM to 8:00PM, with deliveries ending at 7:30. In spite of Covid 19, Ben has continued to keep Best of Philly’s growing number of customers happy, and people like first-timer Amanda P., are impressed. She writes, “…from the moment I stepped in the door I was met with warm smiles & friendly people. Ordered cheesesteaks to go and they did not disappoint. Perfect balance of meat and cheese in every bite. We’ll be returning for sure.” Now if you’ve never tried

a Philly Cheesesteak before and you step inside Best of Philly, Ben may warn you that, “You might not want to try it.” And then you might ask yourself – why would the owner of Best of Philly Cheesesteak House with some of the best said Phillies in Florida and even in Philly, according to some, say such a thing? Well, the answer is real simple, as Ben shows: “’Cause once you eat one, you’ll be back every week.” Best of Philly Cheesesteak House is located on 2321 Seven Springs BLVD., New Port Richey. “Laurie Neiman”

- continued from page 1 The Tampa Bay Times recently wrote an article, “Realtors are ‘every 10 feet’ in Florida but more want in the business”; however, Laurie Powell Neiman is a career real estate agent and native of the Greater Tampa Bay Area. She stands out amidst a sea of aspiring agents who practice real estate as a 2nd job, stay-athome option, or post-retirement “side hustle.” “Real estate is in my heart and my genes,” said Laurie. Laurie Is a secondgeneration real estate agent who puts her clients first. She recognizes that each client is an individual with different preferences and different needs. “I spend a lot of time getting to know my clients… from the young couple buying their first home to the older couple looking to downsize; we view every client as unique.” Laurie added, “We live by the Golden Rule of treating others the way we want to be treated.” Laurie’s mother, Marie Powell, was a real estate agent and owner of Marie

She took a special interest in everyone

she worked with, and she taught me the Golden Rule, so I view my real estate practice as “service”: to my clients, my community, and my profession. According to her RE/MAX broker, “Laurie’s specialty is listening to her clients carefully, having an impeccable knowledge of the current market and the available listings, and being a comforting hand to guide [clients] throughout each step of the moving process. Serving clients and making sure they know they are very important is Laurie’s goal.” Laurie serves her clients with the same professionalism and commitment as she does her community and her profession and has received numerous accolades and awards from her peers, including Humanitarian of the Year from the Florida Realtors.
