Strabane District Council’s Chairman Councillor Thomas Kerrigan said: “This is going to be a fantastic day out. We have lots of fun events and activities planned and I would encourage everyone to come to Strabane, get involved and help light the way to the Paralympics.” The Paralympic flame will leave Stormount, Belfast and arrive in Strabane at 12.30pm. A procession with the flame will leave Melvin in an open top car and travel into the town centre. The parade will include local chil-
dren following the lantern with their own hand made lanterns. At 2pm in Melvin there will be a family fun day with inflatables, archery, laser tag, mini golf, mini paralympic games, a 5 Star Disability Sport Challenge and a track parade with the flame. In the town centre there will be a live broadcast, face painting, cartoon characters, music, cage soccer and arts and crafts for children. More info on pages 4 & 25.
Pictured are some of the Year 14 Applied Business class (Holy Cross College) presenting a cheque for £990 to Brigid McElroy (Foyle Hospice). £570 of this total was raised by the Year 14 Applied Business class as a result of organising a Coffee Morning for A-Level students and a raffle which was open to GCSE and A-Level students. Local businesses supported the event by donating food for the Coffee Morning and prizes for the raffle. A further £420 was raised by 12B2 who raffled a Spanish football jersey. That raffle was open to all year groups in the school. Holy Cross Awards on P30-32
