HELP JIM WIN ‘VOICE OF IRELAND’ Douglas Bridge man Jim Devine is still well in the hunt for ‘The Voice of Ireland’ title after successfully negotiating his way through the first two live shows at the Helix arena in Dublin. In what has been to date a nerve jangling affair the Strabane resident came through his latest test with his version of Boyce Avenue’s and Rhianna’s song ‘We Found love’. Jim explains, “It was one of the most wonderful feelings ever to hear my name called out as one of the automatic choices from the public vote, it just capped off what has been a wonderful week for myself and my wife Orlagh after the birth of our first child, Ella who was born on the previous Wednesday.” Jim remarked that he now knows the road to Dublin as well as the road to Douglas Bridge having travelled it so often during the past week to be with his wife and new baby. “It was a really early start for rehearsals on the day of the live show we all had to be at the Helix for 7.30am and with an hour less in bed I don’t know where we summoned up the energy but it was all well worth it in the end I have been running on adrenalin ever since.” Jim will next appear on the live shows on Easter Sunday night and is again really looking forward to the experience, “The Helix is a really brilliant arena for the event although quite intimate in comparison to some other arenas, the sound quality within the hall is amazing, although when listening back to some of the performances it does not always come across quite as good on live television. The song choice is so important and holding your nerve is the key to everything, it is so nerve wrecking standing there waiting for your name to be called to go and perform your song knowing you only have 1min 30 seconds to put it over to the public!” “The judges remarked that they would prefer to hear me sing some country stuff and although I do love American country music, I do like to cover all types of music and I hope I have a wee surprise lined up for the next show.” “Kian Eagan has been brilliant to work with and

has been really helpful throughout even if we have some small differences on choice of song, I really have enjoyed working and Learning from him.” “Sharon Corr too has been very supportive of me and we have become good friends she has told me of her great fondness for the Lifford Strabane area where indeed her Mother came from.” Jim goes on to acknowledge the huge support he has been receiving in recent weeks from people not just from the North West but from all over! Jim wants to thank everybody who has voted and supported and campaigned for him. He also wishes to thank the local media, especially the Strabane Herald for all the support and coverage he has recieved. So this Easter Sunday please support our Jim on his journey, hopefully it will end with joy. Jim has had an amazing time so far and he looks forward to meeting lots of local people and doing a few local shows aswell...good luck Jim!
