Brigid McElroy (Foyle Hospice) receives a cheque for £11,320 from Mickey Cunningham on behalf of the six local men jointly raised the money by running in the London Marathon. Also pictured are Liam Maguire, Shaun Colhoun, Jason Ward, Dominic Carlin, Dale Coyle & Sean Carlin.

Six local men set out on a fundraising venture last summer to raise a total of £10,200.00 for the Foyle Hospice. Their reward was to get a starting place in the London marathon 2012.

lands, before heading west again along the Highway and the Embankment to Parliament Square, Birdcage Walk and ends up at the mall.

Through various fundraising initiatives the six were very proud to be in a position to hand over a cheque for £11,320.00 to Brigid McElroy of the local Foyle Hospice shop. Donations are still coming in on the justgiving page which can be accessed at .http://www.justgiving.com/LiamMaguire2

All six runners safely negotiated the challenging 26.2 miles albeit with quite a few aching joints and blisters but also with an immense sense of pride and achievement.

It would be impossible to thank everyone individually but we do have to give a special mention to our fundraising coordinator Mickey Cunningham of Melmount Community Forum who helped us out so much with our fundraising.
