A R R I V I N G AT B E L L A H Ø J SCHOOL SPORTSARENA FOR A PUBLIC SCHOOL IN COPENHAGEN BACHELORPROJECT, 2016 INSTITUTE FOR ARCHITECTURE AND TECHNOLOGY
Section through bicycle lane and arrival at Bellahøj School 1:200
THE SITE AND DESIGN PROCESS
This project is an extension to Bellahøj School – a public sports school in Copenhagen. The extension contains a multisports arena, six classrooms and facilities for the school dentist. Besides sports training the arena is a place where the entire school can meet and after school hours it can be a meeting place and culture house for the public and especially the locals who live around the school.
Drawings: Analysis of the path system that through the years has been created by the children running in and out through holes in the fence surrounding the schoolyard. The floor plan of this project is based on this analysis.
Design-process: section through bicycle lane 1:200
Stisystem og ny infrastruktur 1:500
The school is placed between 100m
two residential neighbourhoods: a neighbourhood with singlefamily houses, where the 50
residents are economically
m
resourceful, and a high-rise social housing where the residents in general are economically disadvantaged.
Since the entrances of the school and the main school-building 200m
in general only addresses the area of single-family houses the purpose with this project is to define a new arrival to the school, which in particular addresses the pupils living in the high-rise housing area. Site plan 1:500 Multisal,

Section through multi-sportsarena and school yard 1:200
The multi-sports arena and the rest of the extension to the school is placed in the corner of the schoolyard that faces the high-rises. By dragging the existing bicycle lane – which is part of the children’s school-route – in between the building-volumes and into the school area, the building defines a new entrance and arrival to the school. The bicycle lane becomes a semi-public road through the school-area, which both invites the public into the school – and especially into the sports arena, when it is used for public purposes – and at the same time functions as a kind of filter between the schoolyard and the public park outside.

BIKING THROUGH THE BUILDING The semi-public gap through the new building, that is both part of the schoolyard and the connection between the city and the park next to the school. This is where you arrive at the school if you live in the high rise buildings, that you see in the background of the picture.

This project is part of a master plan for the city of Esbjerg where a new university campus is supposed to create more urban life in the centre of the city. The eating area consists of niches in which the student can retreat while eating lunch and at the same time observe the urban life that is taking place around him/her.

CITY, HOUSE AND GARDEN HOUSING PROJECT IN THE DENSE CITY, VESTERBRO IN COPENHAGEN 4TH SEMESTER, 2015 INSTITUTE FOR ARCHITECTURE AND TECHNOLOGY
Concept sketch 1:200
The purpose of this project is to facilitate a space-specific community of city dwellers. The idea is to create a room where individualistic and busy people living in the city can establish a face-to-face relationship. This facilitator for a space-specific community is a shared vegetable garden.

A collaboration between the Danish School of Architecture and The Daish Maritime Center lead to the building of this pavilion. It is an old smack now turned into a place where people can sit at Svendborg Harbour. I designed and build the pavilion toghether with two fellow students, Simen Sorthe and Jonathan Pihl, with assistance from a boat builder and a joiner. Opstalt – 1:10
