FROM THE OWNER Dear Prospective Home Buyer, With mixed emotions my wife Jesse and I have placed our 4315 10th Street NE, Washington DC 20017 on the market as it transfers into its next phase in the beautiful and dynamic greater Brookland neighborhood. We wanted to share a bit about the home that we’ve loved to help the stories live on as we end our 14-year ownership of the property. In 2005 I was delighted to purchase the home from a lovely couple that was moving on after several decades in the property blessed with children and play in the yard, Little League at Turkey Thicket Playground and in the many open spaces in greater Brookland area. We learned from the nostalgic sellers that the home not only supported the growth and play of the children when they were young – as time marched on the appreciation funded their college education as well! I entered the property to find a happy home with many charming features that echoed the time, including a classic handmade workshop area in the basement with 1950s newspaper clippings from hardware stores and an elaborate supply of nuts and bolts in mason jars and coffee cans. Seeing the workbench I enjoyed the thought that the handmade features throughout the property were likely made by hand right there in the basement. In 2012 the house needed to transition just like the dynamic neighborhood around it, and I oversaw a complete interior renovation with nostalgia for the handmade features from the prior owners. My family has grown and changed and we are proud to say that 4315 10th Street will once again help to support children’s college education! It was unfathomable when I first bought the property but now seems right around the corner! During my time, this home was enjoyed by medical students supporting Providence Hospital, by college roommates who became a couple and eventually became a family, and by friends in graduate school with lives transitioning just like the Brookland neighborhood around them. We’ve seen the beautiful renovation of Turkey Thicket from a playground to so much more. I’m also thrilled to see the Monroe Street Market in full effect – the outcome of the very Brookland metro small area plan that I supported at community meetings so long ago, as the prior homeowners did before me.
