SCHOOLS

FROM THE OWNER To the next Logan Circle resident: October 19th of this year will mark a full quarter of a century for me as a Washingtonian and it’s been a wonderful ride. I initially moved here to attend Howard University after spending a few years in the US Army. All of my time here has been spent as an actual resident of the city. From Marion Barry to Anthony Williams (my personal favorite) to Adrian Fenty to Muriel Bowser, I’ve seen the tremendous changes this city and the neighborhoods have undergone. I’ve lived in Ft Lincoln, SWDC, Bloomingdale, and Logan Circle, so I know most of this city as well as any native. Since 2004, Logan Circle has been my home and I have watched as it continues to explode with new local businesses and residents. This neighborhood encompasses the busiest Whole Foods in DC and some of the most popular spots along the heavily trafficked 14th Street corridor. Yet, Logan Circle itself is still the sole remaining purely residential circle of the 5 originally planned DC circles. This original building was built in 1896 and falls under the purview of both the Logan Circle and 14th Street NW Historic Preservation Societies. It was a single family home until 2001/2002, when it was split into 3 separate apartment units. In July 2005, I bought this charming and cozy 1 bedroom unit as a starter condominium from the original owner, Michael McGoverner. I always knew that, at some point, I would make the move back west to Southern California for my parents and better winter weather. Obviously, that break has been difficult to make. Logan Circle is a perfect launching pad for public transport to activities in the city. Washington DC is a great place to access most places in the country and around the globe. Amazing friends, a superb job, and a terrific condo in a great DC neighborhood has resulted in me taking fifteen years to finally activate. My condo has provided me with infinite convenient walks, bike rides, and runs in and around all of the popular DC spots. Were it not for the 2,400 mile distance, I would certainly keep this unit as a rental unit to continue to generate income. A small and great condo owners’ association with low monthly condo fees is practically unheard of in this area. It has been a terrific place to call home in Washington, DC. I am truly hoping to pass this great piece of property on to the next owner that will recognize its potential and value. Sincerely,

Lonnie
