Dear Prospective Home Buyer, Our family has lived in the home on Massachusetts Avenue for the past 15 years and it has been an amazing experience. We moved in with a three year-old who is now a freshman in college and an 18month old. We welcomed a third child. For each of the children, this Westhaven neighborhood has come to mean something different, yet special. For one, it’s the pick-up basketball at Westland Middle School or Westmoreland Hills Local Park or varsity basketball games at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. For another, it’s running or biking on the Capital Crescent Trail for fun and for cross training. For the youngest, it’s the annual Halloween trick-or-treating – complete with “BIG” KitKat bars (not just the minis) and homemade costumes galore. Halloween in Westhaven has as many treats for the adults as for the kids! For our family, this home has some shared memories that we hope to take with us to our next home – baking the children’s great grandmother’s lemon cream cheese pound cake to celebrate just about anything; playing phase 10 and monopoly until the cows come home; trying to stay awake for the ball to drop every new year’s eve and never making it; walking on the Capital Crescent Trail to downtown Bethesda to hang out at the Barnes & Noble (now Anthropologie). Westhaven is urban yet not. Walk to Millie’s or Pizza Paradiso or Crate and Barrel in DC within minutes. Then come home to deer, raccoons, rabbits and foxes visiting in the backyard. How cool is that! Our yard is also second home to one of our neighbor’s cat who sunbaths in the backyard when the weather is nice. We have had pets without the work! Just beyond our neighborhood is the Billy Goat Trail and Great Falls Overlook. Our family has spent too many hours to count at these treasures just a few miles away. It’s where we go to hike, to think, to talk and to just be. We will miss Massachusetts Avenue and all that this beautiful neighborhood has to offer. We hope that this house will be a home to your family for years to come.
