eMinistryofYouthAairsandSportsrecognizestheBharatScoutsandGuides(BSG)astheapex bodyinthefieldofScoutingandGuidinginIndiaandcloselyfunctionsincollaboration. eBSG has been aliated with the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and the World AssociationofGirlGuidesandGirlScouts(WAGGGS)since1950.

eBharatScoutsandGuidessubscribingtotheG20eme“VasudhaivaKutumbakam”or“One Earth · One Family · One Future”, and furthering the “Mission Life” contributing to the vision of Bharat and the Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi's commitment to sustainable developmentandclimateactionunderscoringtheimportanceofcollectiveeorts (fromtheaddress of PM Modi in World Climate Summit Dec 2023), in collaboration with Ministry of External Aairs-BIMISTECDivisionproposes“Youth-LedActiononClimateChangeSEWOCON”

• ListouttheactivitiesforYouth/Scoutsandguidesforclimatechange

• ToexposeparticipantstotherichculturalheritageofIndia.

EXPECTED OUTCOME

• In-depth understanding of climate change: Participants will be able to identify the need for climatechangeactionandexplaintheconceptofclimatechangeandtheGreenhouseEect.

• Recognition of climate change eects: Participants will gain insight into the various eects of climate change, including its impact on the environment, biodiversity, weather patterns, and humansocieties.

• Analytical skills to assess causes of climate change: rough discussions and workshops, participants will develop analytical skills to examine and analyze the causes of climate change, includingtheroleoffossilfuels,deforestation,andindustrialemissions.

• Knowledgeofglobalandnationalclimateaction:Participantswilllearnabouttheinitiativesand measurestakenbytheUnitedNationsandtheGovernmentofIndiatoaddressclimatechange.

• Youth empowerment for climate action: Participants will engage in interactive sessions that highlight the importance of youth-led action in combating climate change. ey will be introduced to various activities and projects for youth, scouts, and guides that focus on environmentalconservationandsustainability

• Practicalengagementandcollaboration:eeventwillprovideopportunitiesforparticipantsto collaborateandshareideasonclimateactionprojectstheycanleadorparticipateinwithintheir communities.

• Inspiration for continued advocacy and action: Participants will leave the event inspired and motivatedtocontinuetheiradvocacyforclimateaction.eywillhaveaclearroadmapforhow theycancontributetoclimatechangemitigationandadaptationintheirdailylivesandbeyond.

• Cultural Exchange: To expose participants to the rich cultural heritage of India, thereby promotingmutualunderstandingandrespectamongparticipantsfromdiversebackgrounds. SELECTION PROCEDURE

• InvitationtoNationalScoutsOrganizationsandMemberOrganisation:

e Bharat Scouts and Guides will send ocial invitations to the National Scouts OrganizationsoftheBIMSTECcountries.eseorganizationsarerequestedtonominate seniorScoutsandGuides,(knownasRoversandRangers)alongwithtwoadults,onemale andonefemale,preferablytheChiefCommissionerorInternationalCommissionerfrom NationalScoutOrganisationorMemberOrganisation.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

eselectedyouthparticipantsshouldbe:

• Betweentheagesof18and25.

• PreferablyinvolvedinClimateChangeinitiatives. Basedontheprovidedcriteria,eachNationalScoutsOrganization/MemberOrganisationwill nominate candidates for the event. ese nominations will ensure a well-rounded and experiencedgroupofparticipants.

TRAVELLING

TheBharat Scouts and Guideswill hosttheevent and will take care of boarding and lodging duringtheevent.eairfareshallbetakencarebytheparticipantorrespectiveorganisation.
