The Top 3 Recruiting Strategies for Warehouses in DFW from Local Staffing Experts

8 years ago, KP Staffing hit an inflection point.

Nathan Doran, president of KP Staffing, shifted their focus from events to light industrial staffing, and it was time to rebrand and rebuild.

The team put their nose to the grindstone, and now, 8 years later, they've grown by over 1,000%, from 2 branches to 8 across DFW and one in Houston.

In this article, we’ll explore the top 3 recruiting strategies they use to fill warehouse positions in DFW.

1. GET SOCIAL

79% of candidates use social media for job seeking, according to GlassDoor, and 94% of recruiters use platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook, to reach candidates, according to Zippia.

However, tasking a small recruiting team with juggling multiple social media channels can ultimately backfire, Christine Doran, the head of marketing at KP Staffing, cautioned.

It’s common for recruiters to spread themselves too thin, managing every social media platform

at once, resulting in a watered-down, ineffective presence on all of them, she explained.

"If I had to choose one platform, I'd start recruiting with Facebook," she said. "Facebook groups are a helpful tool for reaching thousands of warehouse candidates, since there are well over 100 job groups in DFW alone, and many of them have thousands of members."

Every KP Staffing branch has their own Facebook page, which is managed by someone from that branch, in order to keep the information relevant to their audience. Recruiters then share their job posts with all the local DFW job groups.

“As a staffing agency with a local marketing department, we luckily have the resources to manage several platforms effectively and tailor our approach to DFW. But if you have an in-house recruiter, it’s probably best for them to focus on one or two platforms," she said.

2. TARGETED MESSAGING CAMPAIGNS

Targeted messaging campaigns can be a highly effective strategy for warehouses to leverage their database of job seekers, when done well.

According to Christine Doran, KP Staffing targets

DFW candidates by location, job preferences, and skills.

And the numbers speak for themselves – KP Staffing has a 50% average increase in foot traffic on job fair days after sending targeted messaging campaigns.

"Personalized, targeted messaging helps us maximize our existing database, which has over 111,000 candidates, rather than jumping straight to the job boards where money evaporates," she added.

3. HARNESS YOUR DIGITAL REPUTATION

Managing your online reputation is crucial for attracting top talent to your warehouse.

Employee testimonials, success stories, and Google reviews all help candidates know which companies they want to work with

KP Staffing leveraged their positive reputation in social media campaigns, website design, and marketing collateral, to distinguish their brand, contributing to their rapid growth

For local warehouses, gathering Google reviews from employees is a good place to start.
