What I have come to realise is, expectations on self and others and the need for perfectionism this time of the year creates lots of angst. tuck on ideas for healthy treats this festive season? These gut gummies take mere minutes to make, and barely any time to set in the fridge. Everyone will love them – especially the kids! They contain gelatin which has many benefits like improving digestion and nutrient absorption, increasing metabolism, reducing bloating, and decreasing inflammation.

New Year’s Green Detox Smoothie

Ingredients: 270ml can coconut cream 1½ tbsp organic gelatin powder 2 tbsp cacao powder 3 tbsp water 3 tbsp rice malt syrup A pinch of pink Himalayan salt

(GF / DF / Grain Free / Nut Free) Ingredients: 4 inch piece of cucumber 2 cups spinach leaves (or kale) 1 handful parsley 1 lemon peeled 1 green apple (cored and sliced) 1 knob of ginger (1 inch piece) 1 tbsp chia seeds (or hemp seeds) 1 cup coconut water* ½ cup ice or water to cover ingredients

Vegan Roasted Garlic Aioli

(Makes 750ml) This recipe is such a quick easy recipe, free from common allergens and animal products. It is perfect served with roasted sweet potato wedges. Ingredients: 3 cloves garlic 1 cup sunflower seeds 1 cup cold-pressed sunflower oil ½ cup cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil

5 tbsp lemon juice 2 tsp apple cider vinegar 1½ tsp salt 2¼ cups water Method: 1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Peel garlic and coat with olive oil. Cook garlic for 20 minutes or until translucent and aromatic. This is the perfect time to roast some wedges to dunk in the aioli! 2. Once garlic is cooked, place all ingredients into a blender. 3. Spice up your next enema WORDS JOEL GRACE, Owner, Sunshine Colonics Health & Wellness Centre

F

or those that don’t know what an enema is, it involves gently instilling some warm filtered water into your colon via a flexible tube. Enemas are like a ‘mini colonic’ you can do at home, as they clean the lower 25% of your colon only. A standard enema uses filtered water, but as you’ll see below, there’s a variety of ways you can ‘pimp’ your enema to get some extra health benefits. Ol’ Faithful – The Coffee Enema This is probably the most common type of enema people administer at home. Popularised amongst the natural health community, coffee enemas involve brewing some fresh organic coffee and retaining it in your bowel for a period of 10-15 minutes before eliminating. The caffeine and organic coffee compounds quickly enter your bloodstream and travel direct to your liver. The caffeine then stimulates your gallbladder to dump toxic bile, so it’s a fantastic detox boost for your body. Additionally, coffee enemas

have been shown to improve the efficacy of glutathione (our body’s master antioxidant) by 600-700%! This powerful detoxifier binds with toxins throughout the body and flushes them out during the enema process. Spice It Up – The Turmeric Enema Turmeric enemas can be quite useful in minor pain relief and may assist in reducing the inflammation that causes headaches and a raft of other conditions. I always prefer to opt for a natural solution than pop a pill, so if I ever get a headache, a turmeric enema is the first thing I’ll do! The great thing is it’s so easy to do yourself at home. Simply boil 1.5L of water, and let it cool to just above body temperature. Add 1 tbsp of organic turmeric powder and 1 tbsp food grade Epsom salts. Stir until combined, then administer your enema as per usual for a 10-15 minute retention. Incredible Hulk – The Wheatgrass Enema Wheatgrass enemas are an amazing

way to quickly absorb the approx 100 vitamins and minerals contained in fresh wheatgrass juice. It’s often claimed that just one shot of wheatgrass is equivalent in nutritional value to 1kg of green leafy vegetables! The enema allows you to absorb the goodness directly into your bloodstream, instead of having to go through the entire digestive system before your body can use the healing juice. I simply add a shot of cold pressed wheatgrass juice into 1.5L of warm filtered water and then administer the enema as per usual. In addition to these enemas, I’ve also included a variety of other types in my healing and cleansing regime, including chamomile tea, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, fresh garlic and probiotics just to name a few! Cashew, Coconut and Lemon Bliss Balls RECIPE ANNE CLARK

Ingredients: 220g raw organic cashews ½ cup soaked, softened dates* 1 cup desiccated coconut 2 tbsp natural honey 10-15 drops of food grade essential oil lemon** ¼ teaspoon vanilla essence ¼ cup sultanas Method: Prepare your ingredients by washing cashews and draining. Place the raw cashews into a food processor. Process along with soaked dates, coconut, honey, lemon and vanilla essence. Process/blend until mixture is combined, then add the sultanas, processing a little more. You want to be able to see the chunks of sultanas in the mixture, not blended out. Form into bite size balls and roll in coconut. Chill for a few hours and enjoy with other raw treats!

Cashews, coconut and lemon essential oil, are quite a combination in this form. As a convenient treat, there is certainly a good proportion of protein, vitamins and minerals. *To soften dates, place dried dates in a glass jar and add hot water to cover. Let the dates stand for a few hours (can store in the refrigerator). Use for balls, raw cakes and other treats. Softened/ soaked dates keep in a glass jar in the refrigerator for a few weeks. **Food grade essential oils, like lemon are available from several essential oil companies. Anne prefers doTERRA essential oils for her treats and desserts, they are safe enough to ingest and enhance a lot of the recipes that call for citrus oils and/or herbs.

Method: Combine the almond milk and lemon juice in a small bowl and leave to curdle for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, combine the dry ingredients in a glass jug. When the almond milk has curdled, add to the dry ingredients along with the remaining wet ingredients. Leave to rest for 15 minutes. Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat and grease lightly with coconut oil. ith the rush of Christmas, it’s easy for summer to be a hectic time. When the madness of the season finally passes, many of us are physically tired, mentally drained, wallets and bodies exhausted and not in a good state to enjoy a summer break. Take some time out and remember recharging yourself is a mental as well as a physical process. You wouldn’t run your car on anything other than petrol, so why do we insist on running our bodies on the very things that don’t nourish it? In our busy lives, relaxing moments are so important. Personally, my most calm space comes from enjoying crafts. As adults we often feel conditioned that “we aren’t good at it”, or are “wasting time”, but I encourage you to take up a new skill and enjoy it. You don’t have to be good at it, just let yourself try. Drawing doesn’t cost a cent, or crafts like polymer clay or card making can be inexpensive to dabble in. N

aturally as a healer, I want to share my gifts with others, as well as share my knowledge. I believe that with knowledge comes a greater responsibility to share that with others. And that is one way to ensure that knowledge can be passed on to the next generation. I see Soar Holistic Expo as one way to do that and to hopefully show others that the ‘old healing ways’ are still there. Since starting this business journey at the beginning of the year in Christchurch, it has been a real journey of learning and overcoming many hurdles. T

hese words are based entirely upon my personal life. There’s no definitive meaning for the word happiness or how it feels but there’s a physical sensation that arises within me and spreads throughout my being when I’m totally present and grounded in me that I call happy. It’s when I’m immersed in my doings and time passes without measurement, I come out of it and feel fully satisfied and inspired. It’s a physical body thing that engages my mind in the logistics of movement that distracts it from pressures and worry. My body is the only thing that belongs to me; everything else is outside of me and not my business. Getting to know my body has helped me manage my life and emotions. In learning the language of my body, I’m able to sense its primal needs and provide it with

what’s needed at the provident time. There’s a relationship between my gut brain and my central nervous system that I nourish with my attention and my body and mind respond in kind by being there for me. I’d like to share with you the quickest, safest and most pleasant way I’ve found that’s helped me develop a close relationship with me. It’s called Constructive Rest, developed by Mabel Todd in the early 1900s to restore selfhealing and balance. Lie on the floor with a folded towel under your head, your feet flat on the floor aligned with your hip sockets. You can wrap a soft scarf, tie or yoga belt around your thighs just above the knees to soften your leg and pelvic muscles. Bring your attention to the feeling of your body in this position and its contact with the floor. Then sense every part of your body, from your toes to your fingers to the top of your head.

Picture each part of your body as your thoughts touch it. Let your body settle into the floor, notice the places that feel tense and held without trying to change it, just acknowledge. Feel your breath without judgment and let the motion of its rhythm guide you towards deep rest. Stay here for about 20 minutes, then roll onto your side to sit up. When I finish I’m calm, my body and mind feel spacious. This practice has helped me develop a deep and loving relationship with myself… I have me and I’m happy. Think and speak well of yourself. Look to yourself when relationships break down as all our situations are brought forth from the virtues of our mind. Fun, frivolity, festivities and exhaustion WORDS KATE M FOSTER

I

t’s that time of the year where life often asks more of us than we feel we have to give! We are tired, facing exhaustion, yet for some reason life kicks up a gear, when we would prefer to be hiding at home, fantasising about holidaying on a secluded tropical island (that has no phone signal). So many people I know have had a hard year, health challenges, relationships ending, family pressures, stretching financial constraints, and yet the festive season is about to kick in and our tanks are already run dry. How do we stay sane throughout this time? Those who survive this festive season will no doubt have self-care practices firmly in place. But how do we self-care when there is so much pressure to be perfect, perform and fulfil expectations; those from others, and those we impose on ourselves.

The answer is a lot simpler than we would have ourselves believe. The answer is simply: “No.” Or “no thank you”. Or possibly “how very kind of you, unfortunately I can’t this year”. Or any other variation of these words that prioritises you and offers a chance to care for your own precious needs. (Be sure to offer yourself a healthy dose of reassurance and gentle encouragement straight afterwards.) It’s been a tough year, so rather than run ourselves ragged to achieve the perfect polaroid, let’s take a breath, drop the pressure and prioritise self care, however that looks to each of us. I’m borrowing this line from Danielle La Porte, “Open gentle heart, big effing fence”. It’s my reminder that while I exist to love and serve others, I must begin with me. And the fence, doesn’t exist to isolate or keep others away,

its presence is for safety, spaciousness and self care. The sign on my gate reads “I am the gatekeeper of my own wellbeing”. So be courageous dear hearts. While it is scary to say no or disappoint another, we are all grown-ups and it’s time to take the reins and move towards the life we really want. We have reached the point where we must lean towards courage over comfort, to ask more of ourselves than just ‘keeping the peace with others’, and surround ourselves with people we are not afraid to truly love our life with. Frequency of the festive season WORDS TATIANA SAVERY

D

ecember is synonymous with abundance; an abundance of over-spending, over-indulging, over-stressing, along with an abundance of either extra family and friends, or loneliness and isolation. The Festive season is here, so a frequency reset is our gift to ourselves and because our frequency affects others, this can also be our gift to humanity. Holidays can be a space to create a new abundance, an abundance of forgiveness, kindness, caring, sharing and connecting. All of these qualities contribute to a whole new experience during the jingle bell season. There are plenty of activities and selfcare protocols available to engage our frequency reset. Getting back to nature has an immediate and lasting effect upon our biology and chemistry, plus it’s a simple, inexpensive, nurturing response to the stress of this season. Fortunately, within Australia, the summer months allow us to play more outdoors, forest bathing and being in gratitude under the deep green canopy,

or walking barefoot in the sand (both will restore our spirit). Gift others the time together in nature, reset the over-spending and focus on what matters. My children’s festive memories are searching for fairies and elves in the streams, rocks and hill trails under Mount Warning, these are the memories recalled, not the unwrapping of gifts now long forgotten. Stocking the pantry at home with healthy food choices throughout the holidays will support healthy eating. Rather than focusing on over-eating or what not to eat, having healthy food at home, makes it easier to crowd out other unhealthy foods. Plate up 3-4 servings of green vegetables each day, and remember once you make the choice to say no to unhealthy foods, it becomes a habit, then eating too many holiday sugars is no longer an option. Forgiveness is the most grace-filled gift we can offer ourselves. During this period, forgiveness is especially beneficial as the season brings time with family and old friends, along

with isolation and loneliness. The true process of forgiveness is within ourselves. Guilt, annoyance, frustration, anger or resentment only hurt ourselves and keep the cycle perpetuating. These emotions can feel so real, yet all they are is energy in motion. Energy is nothing without thought. So in truth, none of these actually exist. To hold thought towards these energies can harm ourselves, these emotions create harm within, more than they create any change outside of us. To begin the forgiveness process, imagine whoever the damaging emotions are directed towards is you, because they are. Every time you forgive someone outside of yourself, you forgive yourself. How to have a

worry-free holiday season

done things better or wishing they were different. Awareness of the things you value most can help to reduce worry. Clues can be found in what you surround yourself with, how you spend your money and what you read and talk about. Remain calm and ground yourself in the present moment. If your values are kids and education then the first thing you should have put aside is money for the first term’s school fees and their uniforms. Anything left over means they can get the toy of their choice. Do kids really need 3, 5, 7 of every toy?… I know for real that my kids don’t even play with half of their toys so why break the bank, your marriage and yourself to oblige to society’s consumerism for the sake of one day. Pre-frame any expectations with kids – Santa is bringing you one thing etc.

am mindful that I have a natural tendency to worry a lot. What has helped me is having structures in place and meaning to my life. I don’t find meaning in gifts from people who have bought them for me for the sake of buying me a gift. I find meaning and value in the human element of life. Family, kids, friendship, happiness, joy, integrity and the list goes on. Not consumerism, hype, worry, anxiety over bills, stress… I know from experience that if you are living a life according to your highest values, that is a good start to your path to happiness and freedom. Why not start 2019 by winding down the year that was and picture the holiday season as the time to end out the year that was – the good, the bad and the ugly. Just noticing it detached and saying to yourself – that’s interesting and it just is, rather than worrying about how you could have

Look around you and see the smiles on your kids’ faces when they notice how happy you are – the mother, wife, step-mother – woman generally sets the tone of the house. Notice a sense of pride that you have stuck to a list and a budget. Be present in the moment knowing you are living within your means and to your highest values. Be content that you are doing the best you can with the resources you have. There is no failure, only feedback. blood sugar roller coaster ride!

ishing you had better selfcontrol when the festive season has you craving carbohydrates? Wanting to feel and look good this summer, but find it hard when so much focus is on ‘naughty’ food? The best way to tackle any food anxiety when the festive season hits, is to know there are always healthier choices you can make, in almost any situation! Using a little nutritional savvy will allow you to stay calm, in control and feeling your best when those grazing tables are so tempting! WHY DO MOST FESTIVE SEASON FOODS MAKE YOU TIRED? Put simply, it’s too many carbs and when eaten on their own, can send us on a rollercoaster ride with our blood sugar levels. Remember the old saying ‘what goes up, must come down’? This is exactly how our insulin behaves when we eat carbohydrate foods, particularly refined carbs like processed wheat, biscuits, white pasta/bread/rice.

HOW CAN YOU COMBAT THE ENERGY SLUMP? Firstly, try to avoid eating carbohydrates solo, always add a protein to buffer and slow the release of insulin, so that it doesn’t come crashing down an hour or two later, which will make you feel like you need more carbs to bring you back up to neutral (hence the roller coaster analogy). Protein in the form of nuts, seeds, seafood, eggs, as well as red and white meats can be the perfect accompaniment to your hors d’oeuvre plate! Since fats are no longer the enemy, keep them on-side and include: avocados, salads with good quality oils as dressings, olives, coconut cream and oils, to ensure your food choices keep you feeling full and satisfied, as fats are super clever at telling our body that you’re full. FESTIVE SNACKS? If you’re making snacks at home or are asked to bring a share plate, include foods that can be considered medicine, when it comes to combating blood sugar issues. We often suggest

cinnamon to assist stabilising blood sugar levels. Ideally gravitate towards recipes that include: cinnamon, chia seeds, flaxmeal, coconut oil, almonds, pumpkin or sunflower seeds and avocados. Home-made bliss balls, chunky dips, raw dessert slices and using nut meals in place of flours, will keep you and your friends feeling happy and satisfied, without the sugar crash! It is easy to over-do the portion sizes this time of the year. Remember your digestion system does not know it is the festive season and has not had time to prepare for the extra digestive enzymes and work that may be ahead. At times you may find yourself eating something unhealthy because it’s enjoyable, when in fact often the healthier option could taste just as good. t’s that time of the year again, where family and friends gather to celebrate the festivities and it’s that socialising factor that makes the experience magical. A very important part of celebrating that has been happening for hundreds of years, is the preparation of foods for those special days. Every traditional culture has brought congregations of people together to commemorate a special occasion, irrespective of timing and religion. Thirteen years ago I had the privilege of attending a feast in the jungles of West Papua, where the Korowai people (who built their dwellings up on the trees) were honouring the great abundance of food; mainly sago and grubs that were in the forest that particular year. It was simple and memorable.

Unfortunately Christmas can be a time of complexity for many and a time when a lot of people overindulge on eating and drinking those foods that are not particularly healthy, paying the consequences later on. I also think it is important not to get obsessed with food. Unfortunately there seems to be a degree of extremism that has impacted the food world. From junk food eaters on one hand and orthorexics on the other, I don’t think it’s very healthy to be in either polarity. The key is to keep it simple. Normally traditional, wholesome meals are tasty and nutritious. And organic, local and seasonal where possible is optimal. Get your produce at the local farmers’ markets, where normally it tastes better, saves you money and supports the small growers that feed us. This is environmentally conscious

too, as a lot of energy and resources are saved, helping to preserve our surroundings. By protecting your local environment, you will also enjoy better health. Christmas is a time for celebration, connection and preparing your own food, just don’t go overboard and sabotage the hard work you have done during the year to improve your health, by making erroneous choices. Eat real food, nothing from a packet or with a bar code and numbers, and you can’t go wrong. Enjoy the experience of this beautiful time of year, making yourself even healthier, but don’t feel guilty if you occasionally ‘fall off the wagon’. Seven Eighths of Me: A Tale of a Spiritual Adventurer

HB: What’s it like to write a book? How did you write your book? Linda: Well, for starters I received regular and repetitive signals from spirit as well as from the people in my spiritual family whom I resonate with and respect. It was more like nagging questions that went on for maybe five years; “have you written the book yet?” But I didn’t feel like I had anything to say. Then all of a sudden it was time, it felt right. The decision was made to selfpublish with Balboa Press so I organised that. Then I needed to get an editor, one that got me, and allowed my voice to come through, so Brooke Olive from Perth WA was commissioned for this role. I made an outline, a timeline of stories that coincided with my spiritual development but mostly I partnered with spirit, got out of my own way and let things flow.

My whole thought process was that I was in service and now was ready to continue to help whoever I could. I had a ritual I would do to ready myself for writing. I turned on Bach for brain power background music, I called in Arch Angel Gabriel and Thoth the Scribe to assist with the words, did breath work to centre myself, then off I would go. The stories poured out of me, each bringing back the lessons I had learnt and the experiences that I hold close to my heart. I love manifesting and growing and it is my passion to help other people. The book is a very down-to-earth account of my spiritual growth and personal transformation from crippling self-doubt into a woman who knows and accepts who she is and where she’s from. My reasons for writing Seven Eighths of Me was to open the channels for people who are curious about

manifesting a better life and being open to spirit and seeing the magic in the ordinary. I wanted to lead by example in terms of how to maintain forward momentum in life regardless of the obstacles, and help people to trust their spiritual GPS. I also wanted people to be mindful of the signs placed on their path and how important it is to stay in the present moment and see the synchronicities, however obscure they may be. I have been told many times I had blind faith but writing the book was about trusting this was what I was supposed to do. I enjoyed writing it, as I got to relive the beautiful sacred sites and places I have been to in the world. Something I learnt early on in my travels is spirit has a sense of humour and this created much laughter. /Willowswayoflife

N

ature has given us some magnificent gifts, including the medicinal properties of plants which can nurture, heal and transform. A natural approach to healing is something Stephen Parka experienced firsthand, very early on. Nowadays, Stephen

spends much of his time at ‘The Hempothocary’ in Montville, on the Sunshine Coast, a family business he operates alongside his partner Melanie Leontine and their daughter Jazzmin, as well as a team of natural health practitioners. ‘The Hempothecary’ is also home to ‘Mr Hempy’ and ‘Cannopathy’, which harness the healing and medicinal

properties of hemp and cannabinoids harvested from various sources in the plant kingdom. Stephen reflects on his early influences, “My grandmother always had this magic aloe vera plant that assisted just about everything, and things like radium weed and milkweed, were things she grew up with. And I

guess trying them and seeing how they worked, showed me that we’ve got here as a species somehow and that wasn’t necessarily through modern pharmaceuticals.” Natural remedies, his mum’s medical background, and his career as an analyst, have served Stephen well. “Mum was a nurse and she’s only just retired. So there’s a medical background in the family anyway. She was nursing way before my 48 years on the planet. So we had that perspective, and we had a lot of access to that knowledge. But on the other side, from the grandparents’ side, and from mum to some degree too, there was always a natural remedy at hand. And even from my father, he has his own remedies. My grandmother would have a plant that she’d pull out of the garden, or we’d use witch hazel or castor oil. There was always something natural that we would use. We relied less on antibiotics, although they were sometimes part of the regime if you went to the doctor, but we relied a lot less on those things. And even with flus, we would sweat them out, take certain drinks and potions to hydrate and get through the fevers by burning the virus out, rather than trying to suppress it.” The trademarked brand Mr Hempy and its namesake Miss Hempy is well established, and has its foundation in a philosophy of chemical-free, not tested on animals, hemp-based products including soaps for sensitive skins, balms, repellents, and other topical preparations. “Initially, it was Melanie’s vision to create products that were eco-friendly, that didn’t harm animals. We also have another business that involves eco VIP tours, so it’s all about the animals and the environment. Mr Hempy products were developed with that in mind, and hemp was one of those things that was very important in that process. What we started finding was, not only were they eco-friendly in their approach, they didn’t have petroleum, detergents and surfactants, and people started finding that the soaps were really good for things like eczema, dermatitis and other skin conditions. And also, burns, bites, itches, stings, those types of daily conditions, just putting that balm on, relieved the itch and the sting very quickly. So the power of the hemp actually came through in those products.” Melanie’s heritage has a deep connection with hemp farming, her grandmother was a fourth generation hemp farmer from Latvia, who lived until

she was 107. She was still sharp and according to Stephen, didn’t look a year over 85! “We would look at her and just say, the plant medicines that she used, particularly the hemp-based things that she did, probably played a huge part. She had a very healthy endocannabinoid system.” The evolution of Cannopathy, the company’s internationally registered therapy, is not only hemp-based, but also includes other sources of cannabinoids for their profound medicinal properties. “It includes Australian bush medicines, Amazonian bush medicines, African and Asian and European bush medicines as well, so credit where credit’s due to different plants. “The hemp plant is unique in so many ways with the cannabinoid content that’s in it. However, there are also a bunch of other plants that have shared components, if you like. For example, the hemp plant has cannabinoids, which are what people are talking about now with THC and CBD, but that’s two out of a hundredodd components in that class. Now, taking some plants that are common and combining them with the hemp and cannabis species, produces some really interesting effects. That can be antagonistic or agonistic. So you can boost or you can trim down or you can make it better or you can make it worse. It’s a very broad subject. A lot of people are crying out for hemp to be legalised across the board. Having said that, because of the depth of the components within the plant, it really does need specialist approaches, where people that have for example, mental illness, can use it as a medicine, but it can also cause them problems if they get the wrong strains and wrong species,” Stephen reinforces that caution is required moving forward to make sure that people who need them are the ones who benefit most. Research is a driving force behind Cannopathy and its potential to help others, led by the creator Melanie who is also their resident Pharmacognosist. Stephen explains, “the number one researcher, within our business, is Melanie, who spends many hours a day researching new things, delving deeper, finding parallels, finding diverse applications, looking at where things don’t work and looking at things that do work. The research actually extends to laboratories and professors and various people that may not even have those particular facilities or qualifications, that

are experts in their field for different reasons… It’s not just taking positive research, but also taking negative research and saying, ‘Okay, how important is this? How important is the negative side of it,’ and then trying to be fair and just. Because we’ve had people come through and say, ‘Well, there’s overwhelming evidence that this particular plant does a thousand things.’ But then there’ll be people that have a genetic disposition or a genetic marker that is different. Melanie’s interest now is also in the genetic side of things, having discovered gene mutation, 1298C gene mutation and MTHFR, and things like that, which affect a percentage of the population and these people may not realise they have it. Some of them cannot do what others in the population can do. Now, because of that, she has an interest in genetics, in further depths within the body and she’s reading and researching constantly and making contact with researchers overseas.” Stephen is also keen to acknowledge the people he works with, as well as the clients who walk in the door. “We’ve just got phenomenal staff. We’re so blessed to have good people on board that in each of their own rights can contribute. iodynamic craniosacral therapy came into my life through a recommendation by a dear friend after a bout of sickness that I was struggling to recover from. I was at the point of being willing to try anything! But I eventually recovered, not understanding how this therapy worked. I just knew I was healing, I felt more vibrant and my life was becoming clearer. Little did I know just how significant biodynamic craniosacral therapy would become in my life. This gentle hands-on therapy is very subtle but so profound. The therapist creates a safe space which supports the natural ability of your body to heal. Unwrapping the gift of

living your dreams

W

hat do you want more of this coming year? At the end of every year, I complete an in-depth assessment of my year. Kind of like a personal life audit. I look at what I consciously wanted to experience in the year and what I actually experienced which includes all of the things I may not have even dreamed of. These are often experiences of great personal growth that can only be truly discovered whilst in the process and often understood in retrospect. Setting aside such time to explore and honour my creative process gives me great fulfillment. There was a time when I was all about only setting goals and being really harsh and unkind to myself if I didn’t achieve them. Missing the goal posts meant I was a failure. However, working from the ‘energy’ of what I want to create, gives me much more space, lightness and freedom of

expression and inspires my creativity immensely. Knowing how I function, not making myself wrong for it and giving myself full permission to do it my way, has been extremely liberating. I let go of the judgments and points of view around how to do things. There’s no right and wrong way. I can always choose. So what did I create in 2018? I completely changed my life circumstances. Living and working on the Sunshine Coast, Qld, in my energy coaching business, within reach of my family and friends, I decided to follow my dream and relocate to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory to ground and expand my Homeland Journeys business where I invite women to share a journey to our homelands and deepen their own personal connection to the land and spirit. I had to be willing to let go of the safety and comfort of what I always knew; my home I had

P

lants are simply beautiful. There is no end to the benefits they offer humans, animals and indeed each other. Whether for consumption, medicine, oxygen or just simple joy, plants both give and sustain life. Even many plants that we rush to ‘weed’ from our gardens are sources of nutrition and health, often performing important roles that we fail to see. The plants’ natural pharmacy, the production of essential oils, is one such miracle. Not only can plants protect themselves against viruses, fungus and bacteria but they can also offer support to us in these areas. The source of essential oils from plant parts varies widely, from blossoms, to leaves, to bark, to roots, to wood. Intriguingly, often the essential oil benefits match the part of the plant that provides the oil. For example, essential oil from roots is often very grounding, while essential oil taken from high reaching blossoms and leaves is often very uplifting.

We have a long history of obtaining medicine from plants, spanning the ancient cultures of Rome, Greece, Persia and Egypt. Every indigenous culture found their medicine in plants and even today our modern pharmaceutical industry also constantly tests and develops medicine around the constituents of plants. About one quarter of all pharmaceutical products have their genesis in plants. But unlike the natural constituents that support healing in essential oils, their pharmaceutical cousins are synthetic copies. While modern pharmaceutical medicine has given us longer life and in many cases improved our quality of life, it does so with many side effects. It’s also possible to experience side effects with natural medicine but generally the human body experiences fewer side effects with natural substances. The main reason that synthetic copies of plant constituents are made is because at this point a natural substance cannot

be patented. Therefore, in order to make a product available on mass, it must be copied synthetically, tested and marketed to governments. The right to use natural medicine is a hard-fought battle. Many people, mostly women, died unjust and ridiculous deaths during the ‘witch hunts’ spanning from the 1300s through to unbelievably 1918 when the last witch trial in Salem was dismissed. These so called ‘witches’ were often the healers and midwives of the villages who made plant-based medicine to help heal their community. They were generally greatly respected and deeply loved by the people they served. Fortunately, in these times, we are seeing a renewed interest in the study of plants, with many enrolling to become an aromatherapist, aromatic medicine practitioner, herbalist or pursuing any number of plant-based, natural therapy modalities. www.aminyaacademy.com.au

Financial fundamentals for fruition WORDS KATH ORMAN

eal life stories (names changed). 30s Mike and Sally have three beautiful children and a very busy life. When we met they were struggling to make ends meet and felt they just weren’t getting anywhere. Sound familiar? They both work full-time and earn good incomes. We worked with them to analyse where the leaks in their budget were. These ‘leaks’ were negating any potential for savings. So once they took ownership of their decisions, we guided them through the numbers. Mike and Sally now feel that they are working towards achieving their goals. They had a few rather large credit card debts and felt that all their time and energy spent working and juggling a young family wasn’t getting them anywhere. They had some equity in their home loan, so we organised to repay the quite substantial credit card debt using this equity. They retained

one card with a reduced limit, and repaid in full whatever was spent each month. Whilst they still have debt, the interest rate reduced from 21% to 4.35%. They are paying extra into their home loan to reduce the debt, however, they now have spare funds which are being channelled into savings for their goals and items on their wish list. Their mortgage in now under control and they are on track to take the children to Disneyland, which previously just seemed like a pipedream. Mike and Sally feel so much more empowered and in control of their own destiny. And they promise to send a postcard! 40s Tracey and Geoff are in their mid40s and they are now fully focused on enjoying life. This newfound freedom is exhilarating, however they are also really looking at retirement in a different light, as it draws closer. With the absence of school and

university fees, they suddenly have surplus cashflow and want to enjoy the journey whilst ensuring the fun will last into retirement. Within a short period of time, their mortgage was repaid, funds were going into superannuation for long term and we put another investment strategy in place to save tax and grow their wealth (should they wish to retire before they can access their superannuation investments, due to Government set retirement ages). Now they have an overseas trip every second year and are on track to retire early. Woohoo! Next edition we will look at the 50s and 60s age brackets! oes it sometimes feel as though you need to go through some huge emotional and/or physical drama to attain that level of spirituality you’ve been aspiring to? Is this the example that’s been set by the stories you’ve heard; by some of the experiences you’ve had up until now? The good news is that this is not a necessary practice, regardless of the proof you may have had boldly underlined by stories on social media and the like. You have the ability, and actually you have the right, to choose a journey that is not fraught with anything more dangerous than the love of learning something new. All growth has its ups and downs, this is called life, these ups and downs, however, can be a wonderful experience rather than physical and emotional trauma. Through my life I’ve noticed that I’ve chosen to learn from other people’s

experiences and this has been a blessing and a little bit of a curse because I used to wonder if there should have been some strong dilemma. Then I take a breath and remember that I was the one who chose joy and I was the one who chose happiness. If you’ve been the person experiencing dramatic outcomes from your spiritual growth you may question my words. Through my work and my clients’ experiences, I do know and understand how enmeshed a set of circumstances can become and how the above explanation can seem overly simplistic or even outright annoying when life is serving you a negative outcome. But, can this work for you? Or more importantly, “How can this work for you?” If you were sitting in my beautiful garden outlining to me how bumpy your life has become, I would say to you that in any one moment you can

choose love. In the next moment you can choose beauty. In the next you can choose friendship, then wonder, fun, joy, appreciation. Find something to look at that inspires one of these happy thoughts and follow the path of happy. Look at your surroundings for inspiration. When you find your mind wondering back to safe places like worry and fear, as soon as you catch these thoughts, you’re actually back in charge and you can guide yourself back to love, joy, appreciation and fun. This is just a new habit to pursue, a happy habit as you can see. Yes, you do get to choose and in choosing these seemingly simple feelings and emotions, you’ll find yourself choosing a happier journey. NEVER STOP PROMOTING There are lot of ways to promote your programs, and with things slowing down for the holidays, you have even more time for those marketing activities you know you ‘should’ do, but never get around to doing. • Capitalise on the fever of gift-

I

t sounds a little bit naughty, a little bit exciting, but that is what having a body is meant to be – a fun, joyous, enthusiastic, joyful, pleasurable thing. Your body is actually a big pleasure organ! Has anyone mentioned that before? Religions have told us for thousands of years that to be a good person, you must overcome your body’s desires and you will get your reward if you are really good and resist, resist, resist temptation! Trouble is the reward is supposed to come once your body is dead! What if we all stopped resisting, and started relaxing and enjoying our bodies? Some people will say, “Oh, that is slightly naughty. I do not know if I can do that.” But, you can… you can, you can, you can! THIRTY SECONDS TO BLISS Simply take a deep breath in, pull energy through your head, down through your whole body, out through

your feet and into the earth. Have a big sigh as you breathe out. You probably did that as quickly as you read it. It’s a natural capacity, this connecting with our bodies and the earth. Take it a step further, and on your next breath, pull energy up from the earth, through your whole body and being, out the top of your head like a big fountain. I call it ‘Thirty Seconds to Bliss’ because that’s really all it takes, anywhere, anytime, to take a breath or two and connect your body and being with the earth. You might be aware you do this when you are having fun – like dancing when no one’s around, or walking your dog. It feels good and you don’t need to think about it! The more you practise moving this energy through your body, the more relaxation, ease and pleasure your body can have, and it overflows into all areas

of living. It’s healing and rejuvenating physically, and allows you to expand your relationships with money, people, your body, business, the Earth… actually it’s kind of the key to having everything you would like to have, including a planet that is sustainable. What would be fun for you? What is it you enjoy so much that you don’t notice time passing or meals being missed? Do more of that! What things did you love doing as a child – like kite-flying, or laying on the grass and looking up at the sky? Go play! Have silly fun! Get outdoors, even if for just a few minutes, every day. hat an incredible ride this year of 2018 has offered to us all. We have been stretched, contracted, stretched again, which has created openings and opportunities of space for things to fall away or to be recognised as they really are. It has been a necessary wake-up call for us all on this planet. Do you remember how as a child you would clench your fists really tight for a few minutes, then try to open your hand, it would be quite painful, but with patience and relaxing, your hand would finally open fully? I still do that now to remind myself when I am feeling restricted, and it helps me let go!! Well that has been 2018 in a nutshell!!! Recognising our restrictions through the pain of releasing. We have been energetically

that has passed and 2019

fractured enough to finally start and engage fully in the process of letting go, making deep, meaningful, lifestylechanging decisions to allow the emergence of something more liberated within ourselves. Our souls have been pushing out, revealing inner levels of high discomfort, presenting as, or acted out through anxiety, nervous system exhaustion, depletion, and sometimes apathy. Aligning with the new energy, a new world, is a process of patience, of relaxing into the unknown, choosing to enjoy the freefall into the abyss, consciously releasing parts, and aspects of our old self that have been constricted and restricting. We will start to see more adventurous parts of ourselves coming to the surface as we move into 2019.

What might the next year tempt us with? Key themes‌ liberation, freedom, soul awareness, expressing unique self, connection. Feels like lots of personal consolidation, lots of foundational and changes with money, security, safety, and deeper assessing of how our uniqueness is able to contribute as service in a more expansive way. We will see a collective shift around our values, especially with money/ currency in our lives. There will be a movement towards defining our true inner values and what is important as individuals. he New Year is a starting point when you can offload old patterns, sorrows and worries and tune in to new achievements. It’s more than just making short-lived New Year’s resolutions, it’s knowing you can prosper throughout the whole year. That is why I invite you on a journey through your past lives. Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technic (QHHT) is a method of regressive hypnosis that allows you to remember and live your past lives, to penetrate the closed doors of the unconscious and to gain access to repressed or blocked memories. In a state of trance, you can find the information that is erased from your memory. It gives possibility to see situations when people made ‘mistakes’ that later caused them problems in this life. In fact, when you close your eyes, you are already in an altered state. Beta level is the state of wakefulness. The alpha level is commonly used by hypnotists and for meditation. The deepest level of trance – theta – is a somnambulistic one. At this level, as a rule, regression occurs. Delta level is the sleep state. In the somnambulistic state, you are fully identified with another person and can re-live your life, without the

focus on the present situation. You may be able to tell a lot, because you become another person who really lived in that period of time. One who has never observed this phenomenon will be completely amazed by it. It is an unusual experience to observe how the person changes, and can acquire completely different intonations, voice and manners. QHHT is not to establish power over someone else’s mind, but the ability to create a relationship of trust and cooperation within that mind. Another significant QHHT result is you begin to realise yourself as an eternal being, not limited by the scope of one incarnation. One of the basic human fears is the fear of death, so this work can help diminish this fear. The awareness comes that death, like birth, is just as natural, it is only a transition from one form of life to another. s the year closes and another begins I always love to reflect and know what is installed for the future. And the best way to do it is with Sacred Geometry – mathematical codes to creation. And each stage of numbers is a message and code so that you can be the best that you can be. 2 – Time to wake up. You will judge things so you can awaken to new possibilities 0 – Heart space. Do everything with full heart intention. This brings no duality and no pain. 1 – Ego. Know you are not alone and that it is a time of new beginnings.

9 – End of physical. Time to change what and how you are being. 19 – Express you! I ask you now, if you could be, do, have anything, what would it be? What would make your heart sing? What would you like 2019 to be for you? What would you like to express of you? In regards to planning 2019 according to Sacred Geometry, that is easy. Make sure to set boundaries with what you want and like. State it clearly to those you love and with those you work with. Take time to write your goals clearly and make them well defined. Share this with others so that they can help you. When they help you, they help themselves. And lastly, ensure to continually celebrate you each and every day for 2019 as when you express you, you give to others. 2019: Year of the Earth Pig

W

elcome to the Chinese New Year which commences each year in February. Tradition has both a solar and lunar calendar so using the solar calendar, the year starts 4th February and thus a new zodiac animal cycle. The New Moon day of Tuesday 5th February, however, is the official Lunar New Year celebration day when the dragons and fireworks come out to play in the streets. 2018 was the year of the ‘Earth Dog’ and it’s been a memorable time. Now in the cycle of twelve animals comes the friendly Pig (also known as the boar) who has great qualities of honesty, tolerance and rigour. Pig years are 1935, ’47, ’59, ’71, ’83, ’95, and 2007. The Pig is well meaning, generous and persevering and is appreciated for courage and nobility. He/she has many old-fashioned sentiments such as goodness, tolerance and an admiral belief in the perfectibility of mankind. His/her best roles are as

doctor, mediator, judge, poet, painter or benefactor. Pigs can be very naive and overconfident and sometimes even downright silly, so the unscrupulous can pounce on them. Pigs are very lucky with money with it always flowing to them. Pigs in a relationship are very reliable, peaceful and dependent. They end their days being well-off and contented. Each year the elemental influence changes and this year we will experience a combination of Earth and water. The year in Chinese is Ji-Hai and Ji is Yin Earth that is rich in nutrients and will give rise to much new growth. Many people born on Yin Earth days are artists, politicians and scientists with contributions to culture, and humanity. Yin Earth is related to garden earth and Mother Earth which brings an atmosphere of comfort. This then is a year of growth and creativity that can nurture the world and people. However, Earth and water do not sit well together as they clash, so achievements could be

washed away. The Pig is also the last sign in the Zodiac so it’s the end of a 12-year cycle. Animals that benefit from the year are the Tiger, the Sheep and the Rabbit, but the animal that clashes with the year is the Snake, so Snakeborn people need to lie low for a while. Earth and water together are about geophysical events so we can expect more water disasters, earthquakes associated with water, massive rain events, and landslides from washing away of the earth. As water element symbolises fear or worry, there is less optimism in 2019 and it brings a decline in economic growth which can lead to a reset in our financial systems. The archetype of water is the philosopher so we can expect much soul-searching examination of why we are here. All in all, a mixed year. our beauty is dependent on what you put on the inside. So for me, holistic beauty is all about nourishment, nutritional profile and also the energy and mental picture that any of us have. So if you are happy and relaxed, then that reflects in your energy and what we call luminous body or presence, which is an energetic indicator of beauty and attraction. Here are my thoughts. WE ARE WHAT WE EAT Eat from the earth. Eat unprocessed foods as much as possible and keep your diet clean. That’s preferably organically/chemical-free grown fresh fruits, vegetables and natural base foods. Avoid anything that is highly processed as a regular part of your diet and avoid preserved foods and foods with numbers listed as ingredients on the back of the packaging… in fact, try to avoid packaged foods as much as possible too. Keep it really fresh and simple. This will aid your

body in metabolising, assimilating and utilising the nutrients optimally. It will also avoid congestion and also optimise elimination and great cellular replication… in the world of holistic beauty… that means you will have a healthier body, be less prone to chronic diseases and that includes obesity and autoimmune conditions. ONLY PUT ON YOUR SKIN WHAT YOU WOULD EAT Our skin is our biggest elimination organ. So it will eliminate the toxins from the foods you eat and that can result in rashes, skin conditions and other unpleasant side effects. Our skin is also a huge sponge and absorbs what we put on it. I only put what I would eat on my skin. So, we use herbs and nutrients in our skin foods that go in through the three layers of your skin and are eventually absorbed into the blood stream and go to your organs and are literally nourishing or poisoning

your body depending on what you put on your skin. Make it real food. DO THE WORK ON THE INSIDE AND YOU WILL SHINE ON THE OUTSIDE This is the energetic work on yourself… resolving problems, developing your integrity, being proud of yourself for your achievements, getting to know yourself, understanding yourself. I

t’s so strange we all have such different emotions and expectations going into Christmas. As a kid, I remember wanting all the latest toys and music that was available. I generally got undies and a couple of things. Mum, bless her, had very little cash. As we get older, I think we seek different things. I seek time! I don’t want material things. I crave words and photos and all the things that make my heart sing. I haven’t worked out if it’s because I’m becoming more jaded and cynical or if I am becoming more of a minimalist. I say to my girls, write me a story or give me a photo of you. I try to keep my heart open to those around me at that time of year, as I’m aware it brings up many emotions of loneliness and sadness. So, I look out for strangers. I might simply offer a kind word or pay for something for them. I love the reaction and seeing their heart open when a stranger does the unexpected. They generally ask why. I just reply because they are worth it and more. So,

this year I’m gearing up to do the same. Looking for random opportunities to bless others in whatever I feel led to do. I’m taking notice of the cicadas’ song this year, the Christmas beetles that I will flip over from their backs. It’s all fleeting and magical and I will make sure I won’t be looking at a computer screen. I will try to be a little mature (tough gig) and not be hung over on sugar from the pav or have too much wine. Chances are, I most probably will be. So, that’s ok. Maybe this year I will treat myself like a stranger and be kinder to me. As the pretty packages arrive into our home from people and I look at the ingredients in all the body products, candles and scents, I cringe. I even hate re-gifting or giving to charity the toxic ingredients hidden in the gorgeous marketing and packaging. Consumerism doesn’t have to be out of control if we just look closer. E

very year we refine our intention list, remembering we are learning every step of the way. With each experience comes a new insight, a fresh perspective, and the possibility of a deeper sense of freedom, becoming closer to those we love. People often comment how wonderful it must be to have created successful businesses in the past years and living a lifestyle involving travel and new experiences. I thought this must be a sign of success, but in the past few years my ideas around how I measure success have changed. These days success is about living like I (you) mean it, being present in my (your) life, breaking old patterns and opening up to the energy inside of me (us). When I left Australia in 1994 to explore Europe, I would never have imagined it would take me 12 years to return ‘home’. After years of travelling the world, I thought by coming home I would feel grounded and back to

where I was meant to be, but no, the journey was to continue. On returning to Australia, I spent eight years in Byron Bay, a town renowned for its lush, stunning rainforest, great surf and a community of creative and spiritual seekers! Here my interest in sacred geometry was sparked, and it’s been an expanding journey along that path. While based in Byron Bay in 2007, I started to design jewellery based on the principles of this fascinating subject, and it is also where the jewellery brand I established, Geometric Inspired, was born. In 2005, I created a business designing and manufacturing sculptures and lights based on geometric patterns and symbols, a jewellery range based on the same principles seemed like a logical next step in the evolution of sharing the mystery and significance of this vast and fascinating subject with a wider community. Over a period of time, I began to

find myself ‘bogged’ down with the business and I was screaming to the universe to give me my life back. Then everything turned upside down in a way that I was not expecting. I was off again, exploring South America, Europe and Asia, basing myself in Spain and working on my online business, while a fantastic team took care of everything at our Byron Bay office. Crazy, I know, but something was still missing for me. Who would have thought?! Returning to Australia two years ago, my search for inner peace, doing what I love and loving what I do continues. With a deeper sense of awareness and desire for the truth, it is my intention for the coming year to make space for what is truly important. Michelle, these stories strike a chord very close to home – the year she had implant surgery her mum died from a ‘mystery illness’. 018 has been a highly intensive year as we worked on (or have had the opportunities to work on) healing and balancing the masculine and feminine energies within us – thus helping us towards attracting (for some), or developing and creating higher vibrating relationships for those in couples; whilst getting clear on careers and life purpose and direction has been also strong for others. appiness is our given right! Today happiness seems like an elusive, unobtainable emotion to many. Each and every one of us has a different viewpoint and measure on HAPPINESS or being HAPPY! So where do we get the

nutritional energy to heal?

found herself immersed in a number of vivid scenes involving the same merchant sailor who lived a hard and relatively short life that was focused on pure survival. She described two separate immersive experiences that involved being naked and feeling male, post-sex bodily sensations: the first in an open boat in the heat of the late afternoon viewing the sailor’s lover getting dressed; and the second in a doss house watching another lover dressing and then leaving his sparsely furnished room. In the debriefing that followed the session, the client offered the following insight into what she drew from the spectacularly visceral and vivid experience: “I realise that for some men, sex is simply about satisfying animal drives – it’s not about emotional intimacy like it is for me, it’s purely sex. That’s where those guys are at. I can’t hold that against them, but neither do I need to feel that I’m to blame for them cheating nor accept it in my life – because it doesn’t work for me.” ‘The Burmese child’ was an experience that emerged with another client that had sought to explore the depth of the spiritual connection she had with her current partner. The question was used as a prompt for a PLR and a vivid session followed – full of sights, sounds and sensations – in a forest enclosed township containing Asian temples carved with white stone. The

client was fully immersed in the short life of a child that was being rounded up by invading soldiers. The client described the vehicles used by the soldiers as small armoured personnel carriers or tanks and the insignia on the uniforms. As the entire population of the small town were being herded together, the child’s gaze caught sight of a village elder whose energy was noted as being that of the client’s current partner. Soon after, the villagers were killed in a wartime atrocity. During some research that followed the debriefing, the temples were identified as resembling those in Burma and the uniforms and vehicles, too, were found to be like those of Japanese soldiers in World War II. The client offered the following comments: “The details I saw in the visions were extraordinary – and it’s really surprising to see that they’re so similar to the historical photos… I had no previous knowledge of that. What’s really interesting, though, is that I could spot his energy (speaking of her current partner), even though he was an old man at the time and I was a young child.” ‘The wife of a minor noble’ emerged in a session where a client sought to explore her interest in Tudor-period history. The client experienced visions involving three periods as a wife of a minor noble, including: the decision to marry; a period of tending to the small

landholdings while her husband was involved in a military campaign; and the wife’s later life. Details of furnishings, arms and armour, observing planning for the military campaign and minor intrigues were noted. In the debriefing that followed, the client said, “It was so real, but I was surprised by the shields that I saw – they were round and I didn’t think they were like that at the time.” (Subsequent research identified similar shields dating from the 16th Century that were used for both parade and battle purposes.) In general terms, the client made the following comments: “I saw that I did things that I wasn’t proud of – and I caused losses to others – but I realised that everything I did was to ensure my own survival… it was just what needed to be done.” Curious historical and physical material can emerge in experiences during Past and Between Life Regressions – and while that can be somewhat enthralling, the real gains arise from the lessons that can be applied in clients’ current lives… after all, the here and now is where we are but these sessions can bring to light valuable insights from other places that can transform how we function – in the here and now. HB: What inspired you to create Bella-Maree Natural Dog Products? And what were you doing prior to creating this business? Casey: Buddha, my American Staffy suffered terribly with grass allergies for the first three years of his life and lived on steroids to keep them at bay, so I knew I had to do something. It was horrible to see him suffering, so one day I just had enough and decided to use the colloidal silver I had been using on myself and my children for years to see if it would heal his skin. Sure enough, it did!! And surprisingly much faster than steroids had. From this healing experience, I then created Bella-Maree Natural Dog Products to assist other animal friends. Before Bella-Maree I was in the tunnelling and mining industry, then became a stayat-home mum to my beautiful human babies. HB: How have you seen our animal friends benefit from your products? Casey: The results we have seen in fur babies around Australia have been incredible. There are so many I could share but there is one little guy that really sticks out to me. His mum sent

me through a photo of her red, almost furless miserable looking puppy. His mum was heartbroken as she had tried almost everything and he had lived on steroids and medicated washes all his short life, with no success. As her last

Time is Right for PetMassage – by Jonathan Rudinger As pet owners and caregivers, we as a culture, are evolving. Maturing. Becoming more aware and authentic in the way we take care of dogs. It wasn’t so long ago that veterinarians didn’t acknowledge that dogs experienced pain and so did not provide pain medication after surgeries. We’ve fortunately moved beyond that to accepting dogs as part of the family. Not only do they – and all animals – experience pain, also lots of other things i.e., apprehension, grieving, satisfaction, affection, caring, responsibility, and memories.

Now we take for granted that dogs have emotions, feelings, preferences, personalities. That dogs come into this life with talents and proclivities is another reason I’m such a believer in karma. Why are some Border Collies faster, smarter, and better at herding than others? They’ve been doing it longer. They’re journey dogs. These are dogs who, like journeymen, have successfully completed their training and apprenticeship to be qualified to do a specialised trade; like threading weave poles and changing direction, mid jump over obstacles. They’re already learned and practiced. That’s one reason they excel at their specialty during this lifetime. Their histories are stored in their fascia. The karmic history and everything they’ve experienced in this lifetime. In massage this is known as ‘muscle memory.’ PetMassage works on the dog’s mind and spirit as much as on the body. PetMassage helps release dogs that are held captive by their unconscious memories. Which dogs benefit? All Dogs! Often owners only bring dogs

s an animal kinesiologist, I work with animals and their owners to overcome problem behaviours that traditional training methods have just not been able to resolve. Taking a different approach and thinking outside of the box is the key to the success of these sessions. It is important to acknowledge that your animal is a mirror of your own emotions when addressing any problems in behaviour. The most common issue arising in kinesiology sessions is the stress that results from people not living their purpose, and the resulting impact this has on their animals. We can become so bogged down with earning a living and making it through each day, we forget that we all have a purpose in this life, and that when we live, work, and play from the point of fulfilling that purpose, not only does life become easier, but abundance flows to us. How does finding your purpose affect your animal? Well, living your purpose means you have a strong sense of self. You know who you are, why you are here, and you are confident in your true

identity. This is the energy our animals connect into when they are around us. Our animals mirror our emotions, therefore being in alignment with our purpose creates a strong, grounded and balanced energy for our animals to mirror. This means less stress is present, reducing anxiety, frustration and fear, all of which are precursors to any problem behaviours exhibited by animals. As the New Year approaches, now is the perfect time to take a step back and look objectively at the relationship you have with your animal. Does your animal have any problem behaviours that could be a reflection of your own stress? The best thing you could do for your animal friend this coming year is to make a commitment to make choices that bring you closer to living your purpose. Being aware of the choices available to
