elcome to our first official edition for 2019!! And we start the year with a ‘whole food and real living’ feature as well as all our usual popular features. Many people are moving towards a more plant-based, whole food way of living and what that means is up to the individual and what type of lifestyle they desire. We try to cover holistic living and real living broadly… even if you have the purest diet in the world but are unaware of emotional, mental or spiritual factors in daily living, I wonder what impact that has on health and longevity? As always, we present a variety of perspectives and what works for one person, may not work for another.

So this month why not take time out to reflect… what does ‘real living’ mean to you? Society sends us messages from an early age about what we should think, how we should live, even what we should look like. How much of that has anything to do with who you are as a being? Hemp Corn with Spicy Coconut Flakes and Hazelnuts RECIPE SCOTT MATHIAS, author of ‘RAW Vegan Meals’ New Holland Publishers

W

ith the level of interest increasing about how to integrate hemp into one’s daily diet, I thought this would be a fab 100% raw, wholefood plant-based recipe to share with you. It comes from my RAW Vegan Meals Recipe book, which contains a whole range of beautifully healthy plant-based recipes. Fresh corn is available also at this time of year and the fresher the better. This dish is high in protein and good fibre and can be eaten on its own or as an accompaniment to a main meal.

Ingredients for salad: 2 medium corncobs, kernels removed 125g (4oz) hulled hemp seeds, soaked for 2 hours 60g (2oz) spicy coconut flakes 60g (2oz) raw hazelnuts, coarsely chopped 2 shallots or spring onions, finely chopped 1 lime, juiced

Ingredients for spicy coconut flakes: 500g (16oz) coconut flakes (available from your health store) 60ml (2 fl oz) wheat-free tamari 1/8 tsp smoked paprika 1/8 tsp cardamom 1/8 tsp cinnamon 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper Ingredients for nut parmesan garnish: 250g (8oz) finely crushed macadamia nuts 2 dtsp nutritional yeast 1 tsp chopped chives, for garnish Salt and pepper to taste You may also use Brazil nuts or cashews to make nut parmesan. Did you know that about 90% of your happy hormone, serotonin is made in your gut? The gut is like the roots of a tree; it absorbs your nutrients and helps you to flourish. But what if you carried bacterias that released neurotoxins, affecting the way your nervous system works and at the same time lowered your nutrient absorption?

It is a metabolic condition characterised by having elevated kryptopyrroles in the urine. These excess pyrroles place demand on nutrients (particularly B6 and zinc). Stress Hormones too High? Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. Its role is to help regulate our response to normal levels of physical and psychological stress. Clinically we frequently see cortisol levels either too high or too low. High cortisol is often seen in the acute stages of stress, however, when the stress response is activated too frequently the adrenals can fatigue and produce too little cortisol. Imbalanced cortisol levels are often seen in those suffering with unexplained fatigue, disturbed sleeping patterns, blood sugar level imbalance, increased fat mass, blood pressure issues, brain fog and altered mental performance.

any of us start the new year with healthy resolutions and exciting health goals, but by the time February rolls around, that initial enthusiasm starts to subside and old habits creep back in. Quite often we bite off more than we can chew with our health goals and then give up when it all becomes too hard to achieve. If this pattern sounds familiar, it’s not too late to start again! We’ve put together some simple swaps to ensure you reach your 2019 gut-health goals. Instead of spaghetti, try zoodles Today, the wheat in pasta is laden with more gluten than generations ago, which is a major cause of gut inflammation. You don’t need to be coeliac or gluten-intolerant for your gut to benefit from skipping spaghetti. Ditch these white carbs for zucchini noodles – a much more easily digestible option. Zoodles have less carbs, way less calories and a heap more fibre than your former Italian favourite.

Instead of a dirty late-night kebab, try falafels There’s a reason these tasty Middle Eastern morsels are growing in popularity. A mix of chickpeas and herbs rolled into meaty balls and smothered with tasty sauces and toppings, a falafel wrap is a much healthier and more satisfying option after a night out on the town. Even better, ditch the bready wrap altogether and make it a falafel salad. Your gut will thank you! Instead of milk, try mylk There’s a reason for the saying ‘dairy is scary’ – humans just aren’t designed to properly digest cows’ milk. Even if you don’t realise it, milk is likely to have a constipating or diarrhea effect on your gut, coupled with uncomfortable bloating. Who wants to feel like that when there are so many tasty plant-based mylk options available? These days you can choose from almond, soy, oat, rice, coconut, hemp and many more varieties to suit your tastebuds.

Instead of cola, try kombucha We all know diet cola is just as bad, if not worse, than regular cola. Who needs all that sugar or carcinogenic artificial sweetener in their drink? A fantastic, gut-friendly, natural alternative is kombucha. This soda-like beverage is filled with beneficial bacteria and has become so popular, you’ll even find it in the supermarket. Instead of tap water, try literally any other water Does anyone else think tap water on the Sunshine Coast is nasty stuff? Apart from all the unnecessary chemical additives like fluoride and chlorine, which aren’t great for our health, you’d be surprised at how many clients I see each week who suspect they’ve contracted some form of parasite from tap water. I always recommend people drink the best water possible. I

t’s inevitable that you are going to blow it around eating responsibly and healthily over the holiday season, and even into the new year, but you’ll be happy to know that there are some forgiving foods that can help clean up the mess! “What are they?” you ask. Forgiving foods are foods that forgive you your transgressions. After all, the poor old body usually puts up with whatever the master decides to feed it, and sometimes the master runs on adrenalin, a weak immune system and suffers from a little or a lot of inflammation. You are more than likely the master I’m talking about! Forgiving foods are fruits and vegetables that have cleansing properties. Starting with papaya (paw paw). Pink papaya is sweeter and goes down a little easier than the yellow variety. Papaya sliced up with some fresh

passionfruit pulp is like the nectar of the gods. You can have this as a breakfast or eat it as a main meal if you have over-indulged during the day. Papaya cleans the digestive system and, if consumed before a protein meal, helps you digest the combination more efficiently. Avocado is another genius fruit, which on its own is nutritious enough, but added to a leafy green salad with sprouts and drizzled with a creamy coconut dressing makes a pleasant brain nourishing food. Avocados are full of essential fatty acids. An avocado a day keeps dementia away! Apples are up there as a forgiving food because the pectin found in apples helps move the bowels and provides a special sort of fibre that the body needs. Grated raw apples with some sliced banana is an ideal breakfast, lunch or afternoon snack. Like any fruit you eat, your teeth need to be considered,

so make sure you brush your teeth or coconut rinse your mouth after fruit. Apples are a powerful food and a delightful addition to a fresh juice. Carrots are full of beta carotene and vitamin A. You may turn orange after several days of carrot juice cleansing! When you juice carrots with beetroot and one apple you have an amazing liver tonic. We like to add some ginger and turmeric to the juice using the essential oil version of these incredible root vegetables, or you may find my ‘Rootie Tootie salad’ (page 121 in my book In the Raw v4), a pleasant salad recipe. Salad greens. No matter what, we always have fresh assorted lettuce greens in our refrigerator, and find they are vital for housekeeping every meal. acred Southern Tours arose out of a strong desire within two people, Debra Deloraine and Zondrya Vyncent to share the beauty and joy of their deep connection to nature and spirit with others. Debra, through her journey with sacred song and prayers of gratitude, has developed a close bond and communion with all of her relations in the animal, plant, mineral, and elemental kingdoms. L

ife is a process that begins as a single cell, culminating with our last breath. Between these two events is this thing called life. From its first stirrings, we’re moving towards the inevitable conclusion so we have no time to waste. The older I get the clearer this realisation becomes. When I was younger, I thought only other people got old and I’m going to always be young, I’ve got heaps of time, then all of a sudden it seemed, here I am at 60! Too many years spent caring about other’s opinions and trying to fit in with pop culture (hopeless!). My life was on autopilot… a bit like driving somewhere, arriving, then realising there’s no memory of making the journey. The good news is, while there’s still breath there’s opportunities for change, it really is never too late. The mind shapes our life experiences… your experience is

different from mine, even though we’re experiencing the same event. It’s like looking through a lens, you see it as blue, I see it as red but the event is just that, an event, the only difference being perspective. Understanding this, gives one the freedom and power to change life by simply observing the motion created by your perspective, its action and its effects. The body and mind is inseparable, there’s no, “this is my body and this is my mind and I can’t figure out why my body hurts or why it doesn’t do what I want it to do”. The body is your mind and your mind is your body. The mind initiates motion that creates situations leading to effects expressed in the body. If the body hurts, is suffering or deteriorating, quietly turn your attention to your movement patterns, how they affect your well-being and be open to the processes of change.

A simple step to begin with is refining the movement of your joints by lying on the floor and gently flexing and extending different body parts. Begin at your feet and move up your body. Don’t force the movements, you’re not exercising, you’re getting to know your body and its range of motion. There’s no definitive wrong or right way, just find the most comfortable and sustainable way to move your body and be flexible in your mind to change. The rigidity of wrong and right is expressed in the body through stiff joints and hardened arteries. We’re our greatest teacher, learning most effectively through experience. A

round 300,000 years ago, humans started using fire on a daily basis. Fire allowed humans to eat foods they were previously unable to digest in their natural form. Fire changes food’s biochemistry, making it easy to chew and digest when cooked. The process of cooking enabled humans to increase the variety of foods they could eat. Some scientists believe there is a link between cooking, the shortening of the intestinal tract and growth of the human brain. The debate over cooked versus raw food is interesting. Cooking can affect the nutrient content of foods, sometimes increasing the absorption of

many nutrients, but at the same time it reduces water soluble vitamins (vitamin C and B vitamins), fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) and minerals (mainly potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium). As a doctor with an interest in nutrition and as part of the treatment with my patients, I have seen the benefits of both cooked and raw foods. Going on a raw, plant-based diet for a period of time can serve as a wonderful cleanse of the body. Dr Natasha Campbell McBride, who I’ve had the privilege of training with, says going on a vegan diet is like a type of fasting, which can have very powerful health effects for lots of people. However, you

should bear in mind that some people’s digestive tracts are not ready for this, as there may be damage from years of consuming processed and toxic foods. Nowadays we see extremes of diets – from raw vegan to carnivore diets – and I have seen nutritional deficiencies at both ends of the spectrum. I don’t believe one diet fits all. It is very important to listen to your body and how it feels with certain foods, whether raw or cooked. I believe a combination of both to be the best. health experiment for consciousness

don’t know about you, but I love food and its healing gifts. I know from personal experience that food can empower you or kill you. As a nurse, I witnessed many patients being ill due to the foods they ate. In my Medical Intuitive Clinic I see what food does to us emotionally, physically and mentally. But it is what I did to my own body for 18 months with food that I need to share with you. It nearly killed me. I made the decision to destroy my health on purpose and manifest diseases to prove a point about the power of food and lifestyle. I became my own guinea pig for my science experiment. I made sure to have pre and post tests of my lifestyle. The results were shocking. The doctor gave me advice which consisted of medication. He basically said life is over. This is what I was told… “Jean all your blood and urine pathology tests have come back and you are quite sick. You will probably have an early death if you don’t do something about it. You will have mental health that is incurable, be on medication for

the rest of your life and probably not be able to work. Your endocrine system will collapse, and this will affect all of your health. You will be allergic to most foods so not be able to go out to eat and your digestive system will be completely sluggish so will need bowel medication. You will develop rheumatoid arthritis and have joint pain most of your life. Sleep patterns will be disturbed, and your muscle twitching may increase at night time. You will have difficulty with weight loss as your body won’t be able to process carbohydrates properly and your thyroid will not function properly.” The results were perfect for this experiment. My health and lifestyle were so painful. Now imagine, I knew what I was doing. What about those who don’t know what they are doing and wonder why they have disease? It didn’t take long to create diseases and yet it has taken much longer to be healthy again. My addiction to sugar was just like being on drugs. My lifestyle was based around food and making poor food choices. But all is great now as I have lost 21kg and my diseases no longer exist, in

ould you like to discover some natural remedies for your little ones this year? If your child is sick the following remedies can help. If in doubt you can of course see a doctor for a prescription for antibiotics as a back-up. VINEGAR SOCKS FOR FEVER This remedy is used for its long lasting cooling effect. Soak cotton socks in a mix of 50/50 cold water and cider vinegar, squeeze out the excess and put on your child’s feet for 15-20 minutes or leave overnight. A pair of woolly socks on top will keep them nice and warm. Repeat this process until the fever goes down. To avoid skin irritation, you can put some cream onto the skin before putting the socks on. COOL COMPRESS FOR SORE THROAT Often inflamed lymph nodes are the first line of defence when an invader enters the body. Swollen lymph nodes

means the immune system is fighting infection. For pain relief, apply a cool compress to the front of the neck to help reduce swelling and inflammation. Change the compress after 20 minutes and repeat 3-4 times per day. ONION POULTICE FOR EARACHE Earache can often be due to an infection that has travelled from the throat towards the ear, leading to inflammation and accumulation of fluid behind the eardrum, causing pain. Chop up an onion, and warm it in the microwave or on a covered plate over a pot of hot water. Place the warm/hot onions onto a small cloth secured with a rubber band, and apply it straight onto the painful ear, held in place with a scarf or beanie. Add cuddles or a movie! Onions have excellent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory pain relieving properties.

HERBAL TEAS FOR HAPPY DAYS! Get your child used to the taste of herbs from an early age and I guarantee that life will be a lot easier in the long run. It is perfectly safe for your baby and infant to drink herbal teas. You can add juice, honey or lemon for flavour or mix it into the milk bottle. A strong herbal tea can also be added to the bathwater. Try yarrow-elderflower-peppermint (aka YEP) for a feverish cold and chest infections. Use chamomile as a soothing digestive for diarrhoea and a sore tummy. Dill, fennel, aniseed, peppermint are excellent for colic and constipation, or lime flowers, lavender, lemon balm for a restless child. id you know that one in five Australians live with chronic pain, including adolescents and children? Pain is the most common reason people seek medical help, although it remains one of the most misunderstood areas of health care. Could a change in lifestyle and diet be the main contributing factors? HOW DOES DIET INFLUENCE PAIN? Inflammation (which can make you feel pain) can be increased or decreased by the foods going into your body. Omega-3 fatty acids are immensely helpful in reducing inflammation in the body. This is where food as medicine works wonders. Adventures and walking the Overland Track WORDS KATE M FOSTER

I

f you know me, you will know I love adventures. Be it through the pages of a new book or travelling to some far distant land. I discover more about my own heart when I leave the familiar in search of new terrain. We need adventures to stay alive. Leaving my comfort zone and building a relationship with my inner resistance is one of the greatest reasons I live the life I love today. Right now, I am sitting on my bed in our caravan on the east coast of Tasmania. I am up early writing while the kids are still asleep and the world is quiet. My gorgeous husband Rob is outside meditating (he has already finished his yoga practice for the day

and the sun is barely up, he inspires me no end). Adventure is the heart of our family. We first left to travel when our youngest was three months old and we are yet to slow! Be cautious of anyone who says you can’t travel with children. Our girls are remarkable humans, confident in their abilities to connect with others and contribute in the communities we visit. Earlier this month Rob and I set off to walk the Overland Track. While the girls’ daily hiking record is 27 kilometres, Rob and I decided this walk would be a great opportunity for us to connect and grow as a couple! It did not disappoint. After months of daily training and preparation, we were ready for the four seasons promised in alpine country. I can happily report we encountered flooding rains and rivers, hail, snow, sleet and even a few days of sunshine in our eight days of walking!

My intention for walking the trek was to acknowledge the horrific treatment of our early indigenous Australians and to offer my life in service to peace for all. It was not an easy walk. Like a meditation retreat, I watched my mind wrestle itself in the first few days, eventually falling into a deep acceptance of each moment. Some days we walked in silence, each step demanding our full presence to find balance. The terrain changed constantly, my blisters a call to surrender every step of the way. The wildflowers and scenery, spectacular beyond description. Leaving your comfort zone is a risk, it guarantees nothing but change. Trust yourself anyway. light energy of whole foods

hole foods from our gardens, directly from the earth, have a wonderful life force; something called photonic energy. Photonic energy is created with the light from our sun. Our leafy green plant leaves, like spinach and lettuce, thrive and become nutrients for our bodies. Our bodies assimilate this live photonic energy from the sun, via our living plants, and this creates an energised body. Light is a form of energy. Energy in itself is meaningless. Everything is energy. However, when we assimilate photonic light energy; nature’s life force, our bodies feel lighter. Sunlight has long been considered a source of healing and a major contributor to a healthy lifestyle. With a lighter body we can reconnect with our true spirit, create awareness of who we truly are and undo the illusions we can all fall into, as if under a spell. With awareness, we remember we are not a body. Then

we can step back and see that what we desire is valueless. In that moment we make a choice that establishes our identity in health. We can all be diverted from a whole foods lifestyle by our life problems. We buy into the limitations of the body and end up living in a dualistic reality which by nature has light/dark, good/bad. The solution is discipline; a simple solution, yet not always an easy one. Whole foods have a high frequency. That is what creates the sensation of lightness within our body. Frequency Technologies may also be applied to engage our bodies with this lightness of being. As we become lighter, the experience can be one of feeling totally safe and completely taken care of. A

cancer diagnosis can be incredibly confronting, even in the very early stages. Imagine the shock of being told that you have stage four cancer with only six to 12 months to live. This is what happened to Kristine Matheson, author of From Cancer to Wellness: the Forgotten Secrets. Her first response to the news she had stage four metastasized melanoma cancer – a huge tumour behind the aorta – and that nothing could be done, was denial. “My attitude was, ‘I’m not meant to go yet. What’s going on?’ I kind of went into that immediate denial of anything

being wrong, while my family were all falling apart. My husband had a major anxiety attack that night, and I had to comfort him and the family.” It wasn’t until two weeks later during a dance competition (Kristine and her husband Wayne are competitive ballroom dancers), that she finally felt the full force of the news. “I actually got on the dance floor and I froze. I couldn’t cope with the noise around me, the dancing, and the people, just anything. All of sudden it hit me, and I went into this unbelievable anxiety. And it really dawned on me what really had happened and what I’d been told.” From that point, Kristine decided she was going to overcome the subliminal

message that she was going to die. “When somebody tells you, ‘You’re gonna die’, most people take that on. That’s what they do. And I felt that there was a bigger picture for me.” She had always been strongly intuitive and was not going to give up easily. Kristine’s husband Wayne had conquered testicular cancer in 1980, several years before they met. Meditation and mindfulness had played a significant part in his healing journey, as well as diet and supplements. a keen health and fitness advocate, was also encouraging her to increase her intake of raw food. Kristine immersed herself for four days at Chenrizig Buddhist Institute on the Sunshine Coast, where she began to develop her own wellness program, drank juices, worked on her chakras, meditated and did affirmations to counteract the subliminal message she had been given. Kristine recalls, “Whilst I was there, I actually formulated a program for myself. I was supposed to be there for a week, but I only stayed four days because that was enough for me to overcome the belief that I was going to die, and I left there feeling really positive.” She took a few more days out in Noosa, naked bathing and meditating before heading home to the Gold Coast. There was work to be done! “I took myself home and really put my program together. I didn’t concentrate

on having cancer. I just concentrated on how I should really eat. I knew that I had to look after my gut. I knew I had to detox things out of my body, so I just put a gut program together first, and then I did a juicing program, and then I did a lifestyle program. I stayed right away from people who were not supporting my plan, as I didn’t want to keep walking into my sickness, instead I walked in my wellness. And within five months, I was well.” Medical scans confirmed that the evidence of cancer was gone! “And so that’s what led me to write my book because there was nothing out there. As far as I’m aware, there is still not a step-by-step handbook like the one I wrote to help people with cancer, if they want to do it naturally.” Kristine believes there are three stages to getting well regardless of the disease, and to live a long and healthy life regardless of the type of illness that may present itself. “First you do your gut program. Then you do your juicing program, and in the middle of juicing, you actually eat as well (raw food). So, it helps you dump toxins. And then you put your lifestyle program together, and that’s how you should live the rest of your life. And so that’s what we do. We live that lifestyle. Yeah, sure, every now and then I fall off the wagon. Who doesn’t? There’s no way I’m perfect, that’s for sure. My husband’s stricter than I am. There’s no way he would, for instance, have a glass of organic wine, whereas I will occasionally. There’s no way he’ll do any of that to himself, but I will, but not very often, just on occasion.” Kristine’s book, From Cancer to Wellness: the Forgotten Secrets was first published in 2009 and has now been revised for its second edition. “This time I expanded on it, and I had a huge allowable food list, and a huge list of what to stay away from, and a little bit more explanation. What I was also finding with some people was they’d start the program and they’d skip over the gut program, and just start on the juicing program because they had heard the message, ‘You should juice’, and so they ignored the fact that the gut was important. Of course, people are starting to realise it now. So, when I did write the second book, I made sure that I said that they weren’t allowed to go past that until they do that (gut) part of the program. I also expanded information I’ve learned about different things and

far more recipes. The book’s really quite thick now. It’s got a lot of recipes in it. It’s actually got a section on candida recipes as well. “So, it’s been an interesting journey, and it’s been a hard journey. I can’t say it’s been easy because of trying to educate people who have been indoctrinated subconsciously with their health issues. “Everybody’s in fear of this and in fear of that, and because they haven’t travelled the journey, they’re all in fear. One of the biggest things that I talk about when coaching and doing seminars is the fear and using the mind and knowing that the body is able to heal itself, and we don’t give ourselves enough credit. We’ve relied too much on all the pills, potions and miracle lotions to overcome our ills. People tell me, ‘But I can’t afford a health program’, yet you see them in supermarkets with their trolleys full of Coca-Cola, processed meats and cereals and then they line up for their cigarettes.” Kristine has coached many people to wellness over the last few years and run raw food workshops, but this year she and Wayne have plans to take their message to the corporate and university sectors so their message can influence a much wider audience and make a bigger impact. As I finished my interview, Wayne passed by on the way to his walk on the beach. I asked him what the one thing was he thought was needed. “One thing? Get the body right, physically, mentally and…”, then Kristine piped in. “Think well and be well. HB: What inspired you to want to work with people to improve their health? Ian: My mother was a nurse who had chronic back pain. The medical system couldn’t help so she went to a chiropractor and got relief. I was interested, so at 17 years of age, I decided to become a chiropractor, and at 22 I was in a private practice. Looking back, it was my destiny; I love chiropractic, I love to know why. I also practice Applied Kinesiology (AK) which helps me know the ‘why’. Ian: Chiropractors say “don’t carry a backpack that is too heavy”. As an AK practitioner I would say feed your children empowering foods. Remember we have all been educated by the food corporations. I generally find meats, fruits, veggies, root crops and eggs empower (there is always an exception). Be careful of grains, cane sugar and dairy. If your family are all healthy and live a long time, stick to your diet. Our family had a lot of dyslexia, joint pain and behavioural issues. So a diet free from grain, cane sugar and cow’s milk helped tremendously. Remember, everyone is different. In the last five years I have seen a much greater impact on patients due to Wi-Fi. You can’t avoid it although you can protect yourself. If you feel fatigued, have low immunity and/or have muscular aches and pains, electro smog may be a problem. I

was in the medical system for many years and saw the depth of sickness and disease in people and how this blocked their spiritual connection. I was mystified at the level of social ignorance around health, and the way commercialisation of wellness dominated choice through monopolisation and conditioning. I was working in an artificial world, observing people’s suffering demise in a plague of un-wellness, which motivated me to seek answers beyond the conventional. I dedicated the next 10 years to studying and qualifying in many popular alternative-healing modalities, meditating daily for years and developing a profound intuitive insight. Then I discovered something unique: a non-invasive process of testing a person’s spiritual and physical health through their cellular chemistry. Through analyzing hundreds of chemistry test-results, the numbers began to speak to me. I could see the cause of a person’s disease and what their spiritual sickness was. HB: What inspired you to write your book? Amaliah: In the 1980s I read several of Shirley MacLaine’s books and was inspired by her travels to Peru. The effects of

solar winds

oes anyone know what happens to the earth when there are high solar winds being directed at Earth from sunspots or holes? When streams of solar wind of over 400km/ second, and even more severe, at higher speeds of around 700km/second, or during Mercury retrograde, we experience extreme geopathic stress. When the earth experiences either of the above, a strange phenomenon occurs and three unusual things happen. First the Earth’s natural energy flows (which are north to south, east to west, during the day time, and reverses at night), either stop or reverse. So what does that mean? When the flows are in balance, we are in balance or a healthy emotional balance is promoted. When the flows stop, it has a direct effect on how we feel emotionally and physically. When the flows reverse, then we may feel heightened agitation, depression or some other emotional distress, especially for emotionally challenged, or sensitive people.

Secondly there is a +charge (bad-noxious energy) in the form of a noxious radiation that begins to be emitted from the ground up to a height of 3-4 metres. This is similar to what occurs if we were in very close proximity to a 4G mobile phone tower, or within 80 metres of high voltage power lines. They create a charge coming up out of the ground which is part of why we endeavour not to be too exposed to such technology. However, this charge is met by a downwards +charge and where they meet can be quite harsh on the human energy fields, meridians and eventually organs, especially your most challenged organs. Thirdly, when the solar winds are over 500km/second, new Earth magnetic grid lines/Earth radiation lines appear which run north south, east west at 60 metres apart, roughly two metres wide. These grid lines grow wider as they get higher, thus increasing the amount of geopathic stress on the body. That is why some days or weeks we

feel better, happier and healthier than other days. The bad or heavy periods could be due to this increased solar and retrograde activity. This information is not common knowledge. We discovered this ourselves and have been monitoring solar winds and retrogrades over the last 12 months to come up with this knowledge. So what can we do to protect ourselves from these events when they occur? We were able to program the Geoclense home and work radiation harmoniser to neutralise the earth charge and new grid lines, and to simulate the planetary flows in the healthier direction back in February 2018. Fifties When we met Jan and Michael, they were planning to retire in 15 years’ time. They wanted to travel, however, did not feel they would be able to do so until retirement. They completed their ‘wish list’ and one of the items in the long term section, was a trip to New Zealand. As we want our clients to enjoy the journey, we put plans and structure in place for them to make New Zealand happen sooner. A postcard arrived from New Zealand 18 months later, with the comment, “Thank you for giving us permission to take this holiday”. Receiving that card was very powerful, as it certainly demonstrated what can be achieved with a direction and a different mindset. How wonderful it is to know we can guide and make a difference in people’s lives. They have since been to Europe and are currently planning a trip to Canada. In the meantime, their superannuation funds are growing nicely to provide the lifestyle they desire in retirement.

Sixties and beyond David and Gail retired at age 55 in 2002. At this time David had $410,000 and Gail had $255,000 accumulated in superannuation. Their funds are in individual Account Based Pensions (ABPs) and since commencement they have collectively taken pension/income payments totalling $547,000, withdrawn a lump sum total of $114,500 (for holidays, new car, etcetera). Therefore, a total of $661,500 has been taken out of the collective ‘pot’. Since age 60, this income has been tax free. Value today is $664,855. As the fund does not pay any tax on earnings, they have received a total of $42,500 in refunds (retained within the ABPs). They have learnt a lot about investing over the years and feel very comfortable with the strategies we have applied. At age 65, they were entitled to receive a part Centrelink Aged Pension and we helped them complete the initial paperwork to apply. We also liaise with Centrelink on their behalf, to provide portfolio updates etc. on an ongoing basis.

Survived the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) • As a point of interest, their combined balance at the lowest point during the GFC was $467,500. They did not panic and stayed focussed on the long term and felt comfortable with the level of diversification they have in their portfolios. ccounting and bookkeeping has a stigma of being boring and perception that only boring people do it. Thinking about your bookkeeping, where is your energy level from one to 10 (with 10 full of energy and one no energy)? I bet you scored a five or below! It is important to look at all the positives about being in business and making money, and not fixate on the negatives or what is boring. Bookwork is important for two main reasons: you need to lodge your BAS regularly, and your tax return annually. There are other important things about bookkeeping too. Tracking your sales, working out the break-even point in your business and the number of clients needed to break even, and including a great wage for yourself. Look at how much money you are making (profit) that is not showing up in your bank account! A commonly cited reason for businesses not being successful is

financial mismanagement, which is responsible for 32 per cent of all business failings. The range of problems that make up financial mismanagement include a lack of business experience, cash flow problems, under capitalisation, excessive private drawings, overuse of credit, no budgets or business plan, and inadequate provision for tax payments. How can we overcome all that? 1. Flexible planning: putting a business plan in place and planning where you would like to see your business grow is essential for success. Review regularly. 2. Cash management: have a separate plan for your cash – when it is coming in and when it is going out. Just the amount you have in the bank daily is not enough. 3. Change how you look at your business: be the CEO and work your business like a big boss. Nobody else

is going to look after your business like you do. 4. It’s OK to make money: if you make money you get to use it for good and not greed. Involve your heart and your head, and be the inspiration to help others not only through your profession, but also through providing funds to worthy organisations. Give in a broad range of ways. And by all means, have people assist you as much as you need. You set the boundaries, set the procedures and know what it is you want, how you want it done and what outcomes you are looking for. So, do you think you need to be more enthusiastic about bookkeeping now? Don’t leave it until the end of the day when you’re tired, and don’t give your power away. You can inspire them, listen to them, give them tools, guide them, run them through processes and support them but they are the only ones who can take it on board, and make changes. 2. Self awareness is a must Make sure you are not placing your insecurities on your clients. You don’t have to have your stuff sorted, no-one

If you are feeling rattled, sad and depleted of energy, honour yourself and take some time for you. Reschedule your clients.

5. Charge properly Human nature ensures that people perceive that you are better because you charge more. You don’t have to go crazy, but price your services based on the value they receive. Picture yourself helping a woman with fertility issues and then your sessions have assisted her to remove barriers to being able to fall pregnant, then your sessions are priceless! Ending the

war within

ow, more than ever, war is obsolete. We have tried this violent approach for generations without success. The cycle of anger, disconnection and trauma that follows any conflict is unnecessary in this modern time of abundance, emotional support and resources. We must each do our part in stopping the cycle of conflict, the little wars we live each day, in our relationships, in our communities, on our planet. It all starts with ourselves. Giving up the struggle to be right or righteous will free us. It’s not possible to be right and be peaceful at the same time. We must actively choose peace over war. Valuing peace over conflict is the way of the warrior. It takes courage to choose peace and to choose to understand others when we are in pain. But it is possible. The first step is becoming intimate with our own needs

and holding a precious awareness of what is important to us. Once we do this internally, we become instruments of peace in the world. Noticing your inner world and being present to what is arising in you, creates an awareness to make different choices. Setting an intention to be of benefit to others, expands our capacity for mindfulness, and mindfulness is the key to change. Ask yourself: is my current behaviour fostering tolerance, forgiveness and love? Or is it creating agitation, reactivity and war? To experience peace in our lives, and this world, we must bring kindness to our own imperfect selves. The secret is to be kind to yourself and remember that you are beautiful in every way. You are loved. You are already enough. Choosing to not go to war with yourself or turn against yourself is one of the most powerful choices you can make. Forgiving yourself over and over again is another. It is every human’s right to live in

peace and harmony, it’s time to use your voice for good, both internally with yourself and externally in the world. Ending the war within takes gentleness, diligence and patience. It requires you to commit to your own goodness over and over, even when you make mistakes. In these changing times we must begin with selfcompassion and self-kindness, for we cannot offer another what we are yet to give ourselves. Freedom from our inner war will eventually result in WAR vanishing from the Earth. Stay brave and kind fellow warriors. ave you ever wondered why environmental shifts can bring a roller coaster of changes, emotions, feelings and different behaviours? Changes to the weather, seasons and atmospheric pressure (as well as the cycles of the moon and planets), are known to impact how you feel year after year. Just ask any worker in the medical, police or allied health industries what they endure when Mother Nature unleashes her seasonal changes on the world. And some say at full moon time human behaviour can be more erratic. The moon also affects the tide times all around the world and as you are 80% water, it certainly can affect you. When it rains for days on end with no sun, you can start to feel emotional, low and depressed with a feeling of wanting to hibernate. When the wet season is around, you see the increase in dampness, mould and bacteria,

which can also contribute to a decline in wellness. On the other hand, an extended period of pure sunshine can lead to an abundance of energy, love, and motivation and you can be highly creative and productive. If you are aware of environmental changes on your body, mind and soul, you can do many things to adjust. Here are some hints for helping to balance the effects of Mother Nature’s changes: • Check in with yourself and monitor how you feel at different times of the year or during weather changes. Once you are aware, you can consciously do something about it. • If you are feeling low and unmotivated, try a little light exercise to help good energy in the body to start flowing. Walking, yoga, pilates and stretching, are examples of light exercise. • Get a little sun. If it has been bleak and raining for days, ensure you get out when the sun is back shining or find some natural light indoors to sit in. Let

N

ew treatment protocols and materials are being developed at a rapid pace. Ozone dental therapy falls into the category of new treatment protocols in dentistry, yet ozone is not new at all. I recently attended the first meeting of the Australasian International Academy of Medicine and Toxicology, and participated in an interactive workshop on the use of safe products and technology in dentistry to minimise the risks of dental toxicity and promote safer ways of dental treatment. As a result, management of biofilm infections and arresting decay with some of these developments, such as ozone therapy, is considered. WHAT IS OZONE? Ozone is a naturally occurring gas that contains three atoms of oxygen compared to two atoms in a normal oxygen molecule. This extra atom acts as a hunter, killing pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoans. Healthy cells are encased

with an enzyme coating consisting of antioxidants that prevent them from being penetrated by ozone. Bacteria and viruses lack this protective coating. Ozone also removes the by-products of bacteria and viruses, as they are broken down along with other necrotic debris. A range of treatments can be improved by this concept. Ozone use in the health sector has a long-standing history. During the First World War, its application to wounds showed not only its ability to disinfect but also to aid blood flow and produce anti-inflammatory effects. As health care costs rise, patients are looking for economical and minimally invasive dental treatments. Ozone therapy meets these needs. Unlike traditional ‘drill and fill’ dentistry, which requires the removal of significant amounts of tooth structure to eliminate infected tissue, ozone therapy halts decay by killing acidproducing bacteria, allowing natural remineralisation to occur.

Some people may have concerns regarding the use of ozone. Yes, ozone can be dangerous, but used correctly it has many therapeutic effects. In medical use, the gas produced from medical grade oxygen is administered in precise therapeutic doses, and never via inhalation. Ozone should be administered only by trained professionals in controlled applications. Ozone research has opened the way for exciting new treatment protocols not yet taught in dental schools or clinical training, and may change the way we treat patients in future. ccording to the Feng Shui calendar, on 4 February 2019, the annual Flying Stars change their location. In order to find the Flying Stars’ positions, divide your house map into nine Lo Shu squares and place the Flying Stars with the help of a compass.

WEST is occupied by 1 – THE PRECIOUS CELESTIAL GIFT STAR: It is also the star of good reputation, status and successful career. If your office is located in this area, your work will be recognised by your superiors and colleagues. NORTH-EAST is captured by 2 – THE ILLNESS STAR: It indicates illness, physical or psychological discomfort. Pregnant women and the elderly should avoid this area. On the other hand, a picture can be technically wrong, but if both the photographer and the person in front of the lens have those qualities and do not judge anything or anyone, especially themselves, then the magic of true beauty comes alive. The lightworker and

romantic relationships

I

work with many ‘lightworkers’ every day – highly energy sensitive, empathic, intuitive beings – who have come to Earth for a particular mission. This mission is always to bring ‘light’ energy in some way. A ‘lightworker’ always feels driven to help, to be of service and to spread their light energy. The primary area which tends to create difficulties in the lightworker’s life is in personal, romantic relationships. Because lightworkers are naturally giving, and they have come to Earth to help heal and spread light, they sometimes forget that they are also entitled to receive and feel nurtured. In fact, loving and being loved is a mutual energetic exchange – a cycle – that is essential for lightworkers to complete their mission. In pursuit of their mission, they often attract lovers who need healing. So often they put their partner’s needs before their own on the path of service and healing, but as a

consequence, their relationships are often not balanced. On top of that, lightworkers often become overtaken by their empathic gifts with an overwhelm of emotions and toxicity from others. This puts the lightworker in a downward spiral, often keeping them in dysfunctional relationship patterns for years, until at some point, hopefully, they recognise that this is not what healthy love and relationships look like. Unable to find healthy relationships and find a purpose that in some way heals, their heart chakra (their main source of power) shuts down to protect themselves. When this happens, it then becomes impossible for them to receive love from others. It also shuts off their spiritual (healing) gifts. They lose their self-esteem and self-worth, thus leaving them more vulnerable to further dysfunctional relationships, or, alternatively, isolating themselves completely. men connect?

here is confusion about what it means to be a man. Expectations of the mature masculine are uncertain, blurred and ambiguous. How does today’s young man get beyond survival mode so he can flourish? Where does he find his men’s community in the 21st century? Traditional male roles were to provide and protect. Warriors had the knowledge, skills and courage to hunt and ensure safety. Boys and young men had the initiated warriors as role models and teachers. Elders watched over the passing on of lore, traditions, knowledge and skills. When he was deemed competent and trustworthy, the young man underwent an initiation and the whole community celebrated his manhood. Today we no longer have that platform or that journey to manhood. Frequently, males are disconnected from family and friends and are no longer influenced by appropriate role models. The Mankind Project, MKP for short, is a network of men’s groups, communities and training centres in

many locations across Australia. MKP has been building and supporting the emotionally mature, accountable, and compassionate male role models that our communities desperately need. We have a global network of peerfacilitated mentoring groups that serve tens of thousands of men every week, supporting them to thrive in every aspect of their lives. Accepting our shortcomings as individuals and as a community is a part of who we are – a band of dependable men rediscovering and teaching what is sacred to the masculine and passing on what we have found. Our aim is to understand who we are as individuals; to develop the skills for a life of connection and purpose as emotionally fluid, responsible, accountable men in our families and in the wider communities. Most of us also believe that at a deep level, men are largely responsible for the state of our world, primarily because our cultures have failed to teach men how to be men. In traditional cultures boys are consciously challenged

to make the transition to mature masculinity. Few modern cultures provide effective experiences for boys. As a result, most men remain stuck in the emotional world of childhood. Without challenge, most of us are quite content to remain complacent. MKP believes it is necessary to wake men out of the slumber of their daily lives. MKP is a brotherhood committed to inclusiveness; we acknowledge Aboriginal Australians as the first people of this land; we embrace the values of reconciliation by acknowledging the past and holding a different dream for the future. T

he duality of the universe creates two bubbles or two dimensions: the physical and the nonphysical. The duality creates two forces: yin and yang in each dimension, creating a total number of four forces in the universe. However we only see three of these forces, as only three out of the four forces are associated with particles i.e. matter that we can see. However, if we just look at matter alone, all we see is matter unrecognisable from the four forces that create it. This is the dilemma of science, it only concentrates on matter and what it can measure. Let me tell you though, the scientists are doing a great job, in fact, they are making wonderful strides in understanding. I stand in awe of the knowledge that has been collated thus far. And we can use this knowledge – let’s take for example a simple clinical issue: PAIN. The scientists have studied how pain is perceived and what molecules are involved in pain, e.g. beta endorphin – which is a molecule that is released from the pituitary gland to flow through the whole body to relieve pain; it also makes us feel good.

We have recorded the DNA bases into music, which means we can make amino acids in music, and that means we can build these molecules like beta endorphin in music. When this music is then placed into frequency so that it enters organs/ channels that are associated with PAIN, it gives instant relief to the patient. A patient ruptured her cruciate ligament and had adverse effects from the standard non-steroidal pain relief medication, causing bleeding and liver damage. So obviously other options were sought – amongst those was the use of music in the pre- and post-operative stage, to which she has responded very well. CANCER: a recent patient was diagnosed with cancer of the mouth. The cancer has a biomarker molecule called alpha 1 glycoprotein. The molecule was made into music and this was placed into

frequencies that were specific for this patient. Cancer grows by evading the immune system – essentially being immunologically cloaked – i.e. IT CANNOT BE SEEN. Effectively what was achieved was the uncloaking of the cancer which allows the immune system to deal with the cancer. The patient is doing really well. A dawn of a new era has arrived! But before we share how you can keep your pets well without having to buy shares in a vet clinic, here is a very personal story about what inspired me to become an holistic vet, and ultimately to open The Natural Vets. I worked hard throughout my school years but finished Grade 12 with no career direction. I decided to become a chopper pilot and was accepted into the Australian Defence Force Academy. Then ‘at the eleventh hour’ I met a family friend who had just returned from travelling overseas, working as a vet. I had always had a natural connection with animals, and wanted to travel, and her adventures inspired me. So I cancelled my ADFA enrolment and embarked on a Bachelor of Veterinary Science instead. The vet school years were fun, but within my first year of graduating

I became disappointed with my conventional training. Almost every pet that walked through the vet clinic doors left with antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, steroids, or a combination of these, and I couldn’t see how these drugs would get my patients well. I was disillusioned. I embarked on additional studies in veterinary homeopathy and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and started promoting raw diets and minimal vaccination schedules. Then I experienced what no pet owner ever wants to experience… In 2008, my cat was affected by an irreversible paralysis, which was caused by the kibble she was eating as part of her diet. A pet food recall and investigation ensued, and the food was found to be the direct cause. As there was no cure, sadly I had to euthanase her. This experience inspired me to eliminate toxic foods and drugs from my pets’ and children’s lives and support my clients to do the same. It also led to the opening of our holistic vet practice The Natural Vets on the Sunshine Coast in partnership with Dr Henry Stephenson.
