An estimated 800,000 refugees arrived in Europe in 2015. The scale of the refugee crisis was unprecedented, with the EU unable to cope with the implications and unable to develop a response. The result has been a massive humanitarian crisis across the region, particularly in Central Europe.
NESsT sought to better understand the nature of the crisis and refugees’ medium and long-term development and support needs, identifying innovative opportunities to prepare them for dignified jobs and income, through social enterprises.
The research was conducted with support from Rutgers Presbyterian Church, to examine the opportunities for labor-force integration of refugees in Central Europe.
