TEA BREAK CORNER SUDOKU
.......has been sharing their experience of the Cottonbag Campaign in Netherfield, and talking to other communities about how they can help their town go plastic bag free(-ish!) as well. The group, which is made up of local residents, was invited to run a workshop at the Nottinghamshire’s Community Climate Action Conference, ‘Living for Tomorrow’ on 13th November which was held at a woodland venue near Mansfield. The event included workshops on topics including ‘How to Run a Campaign for Better Public Transport’, ‘Setting up a Community Allotment’, ‘Negotiating the Planning System’.
Water, Water…. Watch out for the next NEAT idea – the group who introduced the Netherfield Cotton bag and annual ‘Veg Out’ event to Netherfield is now planning a new project based on water conservation. Netherfield Eco Action Team (NEAT) has already raised some money to buy water butts to give away to local people and is talking to local firms about
helping people at home to fix their dripping guttering and plug those leaks. NEAT also hopes to host a film screening, and run an information event about where our water comes from, why it is so important and how you can save water and money! There will also be the chance to ‘beautify your butt’…
To help in setting this up please email netherfieldecoactionteam @ l i v e. c o. u k , and watch out for posters advertising the events after the New Year.
125th Anniversary of Netherfield In the last edition one very important contributors name was omitted from the list of thank yous. Apologies to the Carlton History Group who put on such a fantastic history display in the church and produced the informative programme that was for sale on the day.

Halloween certainly came to town in Netherfield this year. The centre was creaking to the sound of the community coming together to celebrate the Eve of All Hallows. Among the activities were a magic show, fire blowing, apple bobbing, pumpkin shy, disco, cake decorating and craft activities along with the gorgeous food served through Shunters Cafe. It was a fantastic evening that saw what Netherfield is proud of, its true sense of COMMUNITY. Major thanks need to be given to the people who helped the evening go ahead. Cllr James O’Riordon, The Gordon Memorial Trust for Girls and Boys who kindly helped fund the event. Cllr Allen Clarke for providing the goodie bags, New Leaf for sponsoring the craft activities, Joe Chapman and her team from the Loco Junior Youth Club for making the Witchcraft Room such a success, Scentsations Florists and Natalie Davis who provided balloons and decorations, Don Doe who as ever came up trumps with his superb coffin and masks, Interstate 2 who provided the disco, Pogo the Clown who gave his time and provided the entertainment, Janice, Helen Forrester, Sharon Butterworth and Michelle Richards who baked lots and lots of seriously spooky but wonderful cakes. Candy Marshall , Janine & Mick, Steph and the cafe volunteers who’s superb catering certainly went down a storm. Pete Esswood for taking on the tough challenge of judging the fancy dress competition in memory of his late wife Maureen, Chris Woodward for helping with the props. The residents of Britannia Court for raffle prizes and Cathy Robertson for supporting and running the cake decorating room. Last but not least the staff & volunteers not mentioned before, without them it would not have been possible Tina, David, Grant, Aamna, Jamie, Nathan, Afrzal, Zen, Michael, Tom Jeffries, Amanda, Fiona George and lastly and most importantly everyone who came along and for making such an effort with the fancy dress costumes, they were all fantastic!! And if I have forgotten anyone, apologies but Thank You!!
