Car Alarms Do Work! Recently while waiting for my turn at my favorite barber shop I read an article on “The Atlantic” by Ilana E. Strauss called “The Alarming Truth”. The article wish sound more like liberal none sense about the environment and how unfair free markets are claimed that car alarm are worthless and that they don’t deter crime. Mss. Strauss probably drives a Prius and I don’t know of any self-worth car thief who would go out and steal such vehicle but if you drive a Honda Accord, a GMC Denali or Chevy Silverado having your car protected by a professional car alarm was one of the first things you did the minute you got your vehicle. It is true that car manufactures have come a long was as far as making certain car are a little more difficult to take with the introduction of RFID transponder keys and other counter measures. The reality is that car thief and vandalism in the USA has not decreased a bit. According to the official number by the FBI, on average about a half millions cars are stolen in the USA every year. 2013 census number reflected that in 2013 along a total of 699,594 vehicles were stolen. About 73% of those were cars and the rest motorcycles, snowmobiles, scooters, etc. I guess car alarm don’t work unless you have been the victim of car thief. It is true that car alarms are sometimes annoying and some more than others. To figure this out and the why, we reached out to a local Car Alarm Miami store. Luis Duarte at Car-Alarm-Miami.com explained to us that it boils down to the same old saying that says “you get what your pay for”. More often than not the difference between a plain simple car alarm and a professional car alarm is not more then $25-50. Nevertheless, many people often opt for the less expensive option. He when on to say that to claim that car alarms don’t work is out right ignorant. “Unless you are living off the grid” one can’t avoid seeing the almost daily reports of cars and trucks being vandalized right at the dealership before they even get sold. Premium car stereo systems and shiny aftermarket wheels and tires are and will always be attractive to would be thief.
