Newsletter Friday, 10th May 2013 Dear Parent/Carer As you are aware we are keen to develop international links for the school and this week we have welcomed 4 students from a prestigious French University to join our administration team for an internship lasting 8 weeks. Each of them has been allocated an area of project management to complete during their time with us. Valentin Mala, Amandine Jarry-Meant, Julien Menu and Lucie Lesueur have to submit a report on their internship project when they return to France tin order to pass their examinations. Within school the exam season starts in earnest next week. All students have received a copy of their exam timetable and each week the newsletter will contain details of exams for the following two weeks to enable planning. The newsletter will also continue to include details of revision classes for students. Nadine Powrie Headteacher Staff Appointments We are pleased to inform you that the following internal appointments have been made: Rebecca Brice has been promoted from Head of Department to Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for overseeing Assessment across the school Andrea Fallon has been promoted to Head of Science Luke Snoswell has been promoted to Second in charge in Science Georgina Payne promotion to Executive Assistant; Lucy Sanders promoted to Head of Art Gemma Forge, appointed as permanent Teacher of Art Lotta Viika Teacher of Maths, takes responsibility as School Numeracy Co-ordinator Melissa Appleton, Teacher of English, takes responsibility as School Literacy Co-ordinator Congratulations to all these members of staff, we wish them great success in their new roles. Newsletter Friday, 10th May 2013 Governor News The Governor Finance Committee took place on Tuesday. There is a large amount of work to be achieved before the school becomes Fareham Academy in September and the decision was taken to set up working parties and additional meetings to ensure we support and assist the school to make the changeover smooth and efficient. Internship Programme with a French University Amandine Jarry-Meant

Amandine Jarry-Meant: Amandine is from Rouen, France. She is currently studying Business Management. During her time at Neville Lovett, Amandine is looking forward to improving her English , learning more about the English culture and making many new friends. Valentin Mala: Valentin is also from Rouen. On a 2 year Business Management course he is looking forward to exploring England during his free time. A keen basketball player Valentin is a qualified referee. On completion of his studies he would like a career specialising in International Commerce. Lucie Lesueur: Lucie is from Le Havre, France. Studying Business with a particular interest in Marketing and Communications, Lucie is in her first year of study. During her time with us Lucie wants to explore the English culture and improve her written and spoken English. With a keen interest in languages Lucie would like a career in marketing. Julien Menu: Julien lives in Rouen. In his first year of a two year course in Business Management and Communication he has a particular interest in law and economics. He is keen to improve his knowledge of the English language and in the long term would like a career in Law. We extend a warm welcome to them all and wish them success during their time with us. MEASLES - A message from the School Nursing Team The school nursing team have asked us to remind all parents to check that their children have had their 2nd MMR injection. The outbreak of measles in Wales is a reminder of the seriousness of this illness and all parents are recommended to check with their GP that children are fully immunised.
