Dear Parents/Carers, Thank you to those parents who have contacted us to enquire about the outcome of the recent Ofsted inspection which took place before the half term break. We eagerly await the published document which we will share with you as soon as we have the authorisation to do so from Ofsted. We are looking forward this week to our Year 11 Final Assembly. These students have worked very hard for their exams and deserve a well earned break over the summer. We look forward to celebrating their success on results day. Mr Butterworth is working with our Primary schools on an exciting programme for the Year 5 Taster week and Year 6 Transition week.. Staff and students look forward to welcoming our primary school pupils to Neville Lovett. Nadine Powrie Headteacher Our Charity—Brain Tumour Research: Total raised to date is £1,179.59. Target £2,740 Guest Speaker Joel Ward Joel Ward (former Portsmouth player who has now signed for Crystal Palace) visited the school to lead an assembly for Year 7 students which focussed on aspirations and the qualities that you need to reach your dreams. Joel talked about determination, drive, self-belief and those that inspire him. Joel also talked about his faith and how that motivates him in his profession. He talked to students about his life from the moment he could kick a football. Student quotes following the assembly – “He gave me ideas about how hard it is to achieve your dreams in the future but how they are also achievable”. Tyler Hayward. “When you have visitors in school to do with sport, it gives you lots of ideas about what you need to do in order to get to the top”. Katie Pratt PE Kit for Current Year 7 and students joining us in September Our supplier is currently finalising the details and parents will be advised of how to purchase as soon as we have this information. Year 11 Reminder There is a Year 11 Assembly on 21 June 2012. Any outstanding monies for the Prom need to be paid as a matter of urgency to the Finance Officer. Cheques to be made payable to Hampshire County Council. Governor News (Liz Webb, Chair of Governors) All parents, with the exception of Year 11, should have received by mail a letter regarding consultation on a proposal to change the school day with effect from September 2012. Parents are reminded that the school Senior Leadership Team are available on Thursday, 21st June 2012 from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm to answer any questions. If you have not received a letter please see the school website or contact the school office to obtain a copy.
OPEN EVENING 5 JULY 2012 All parents and prospective parents are invited to an Open Evening to be held on Thursday, 5th July 2012, from 5.00 pm until 7.00 pm There will be displays in each department and, weather permitting, music in the arena. Refreshments will be available on the evening. If you know any parents who are in the process of looking for a school place for the coming year please do encourage them to attend. Newsletter Congratulations to our Amazing Students
A very successful Area Athletics trip took place to the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth. Neville Lovett Boys Finished 5th overall with 42 points and the Girls finished 6th with 22 points. Well done to all who attended, they were a credit to the school. The following students have made it through to the County meeting in early July as they finished in the top 3 in their event: Chandler Harris- 1st Javelin , 3rd 400m John Galpin- 1st 200m, 3rd Triple Jump Toby Roe- 2nd 800m Courtney Lewis- 1st Discus Jasmin Bannerman- 1st Javelin
Students of the week Year 7: Connor was nominated for this by a number of different teachers for his help and contribution in lessons – particularly in his literacy sessions. Well done Connor and keep up the good work. Year 8: Josh Galpin for winning the 200 metres and coming 3rd in the triple jump. Not bad for a student who last year said he hated PE! Year 9: Ben Wallace Stock for outstanding effort and progress in lessons. Year 10: Charlotte Pearson is my Student of the week for the outstanding review that she has just achieved and has consistently achieved throughout the year.
Student Aspirations Year 9: Tom Garvey would like to become a lawyer because he thinks it would be interesting and lead to a well paid job. Tom know he needs to bet as many A* to C grades in his GCSEs as possible and then do A levels at college. He would like to do his degree at Cambridge University. Year 10: Kayleigh Wright wants to travel the world to work on conservation and environmental projects. Kayleigh will go to college and University focussing on Biology as a main subject area.
Primary School News There will be a Summer Fair at Redlands Primary school on Saturday, 23rd June 2012 from 11 am until 3 pm. Everyone welcome - admission 50p.
Gifted and Talented We are currently welcoming a group of 30 gifted and talented students each Thursday from our linked Primary schools, Redlands, Ranvilles and Wallisdean. Future planned sessions of study are: 14th June 2012 Cad Cam Keyring led by the Product Design Department 21st June 2012 The Great Debate led by the English Department 5th July 2012 French Podcast held led by the MFL Department
