Newsletter Friday, 1st February 2013 Dear Parent/Carer On Monday this week staff attended an academy consultation meeting in the main school hall where they were presented with information regarding the proposed conversion to academy status. Staff were 100% in favour of the proposal. Year 11 students were treated to pizza for lunch this week in recognition of their hard work and sustained efforts during the exam period. We are putting in place a number of revision sessions for groups of students during the Half Term and Easter break and letters home will be posted early next week. Your prompt return of the reply slips would be appreciated so we can plan staffing requirements and room allocations. The school staff are committed to going the extra mile to assist students with their exam preparation to ensure outstanding outcomes. Nadine Powrie, Headteacher Careers Information Parents may have been concerned to see the BBC South Today report on Monday this week, which highlighted the large number of schools in Hampshire who are no longer providing quality careers advice and guidance to their students, following the withdrawal of government funding . Governor News On Monday, 28th January several governors, including myself, attended the staff academy consultation meeting in the school hall. All members of staff were in attendance and following a presentation by the headteacher questions were invited. An informal opportunity to discuss any further questions was available as staff retired for coffee after the meeting. I would like to thank those governors who attended this event. Representatives of the Governing Body will also be attending the forthcoming parents academy consultation evenings. Our attendance at these events is an important part of the process of consultation to enable governors to gauge the views and opinions of the school’s stakeholders.
