Dear Parents/Carers, Yesterday I received a letter from Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for Schools, congratulating us for “the excellent achievement of our pupils at Key Stage 4 as published on 26 January in the 2011 Key Stage 4 Performance Table. [Our] results are among the 100 top performing schools based on sustained improvement.” I would like to join Mr Gibb and “congratulate [our] staff, governors and pupils for their hard work and success.” Nadine Powrie Headteacher Important Information: School Musical Production last performance tonight! Our school is proud to present the Journey, a musical production through some very famous musicals and performed by our wonderful students. The show went really well on Opening Night Thursday, 23 February. There are still a few tickets left for tonight’s show so please try to come along and support the students who have worked very hard with Mrs Knight to stage this production. The show is tonight at 7.00 pm, you can buy tickets at the door, £1 for students/children and £3 for Adults. Year 10 international projects offer On Friday next week Year 10 are to have an assembly by Camps International who are an organisation that have various projects across the world. The idea is that students raise money to then work in such places as Kenya on these projects. There is even the opportunity for students to then learn how to scuba dive. The expedition would not be until 2013 after their GCSEs. More information and dates to follow after the assembly next week. Scooters in reception Please note that we will no longer be keeping student scooters in reception as there is no space. PE Kit PE kit is becoming an issue, let us remind you the kit list that students are required to wear: Indoor kit: Plain collared white t-shirt, plain black shorts, black football socks or white sports socks, a suitable and supportive pair of training shoes Outdoor Kit: Plain collared white t-shirt, plain black shorts, school black rugby top, plain black jumper (not your school jumper), plain black/navy blue jogging bottoms, black football socks or white sports socks, a suitable and supportive pair of training shoes, a pair of football/rugby boots Please help us ensuring your child has the PE kit. Nominated for Fareham Young Citizen of Honour Award! Patrick Stewart has been nominated for the Fareham Young Citizen of Honour award for his services to the community and if he wins he will be attending functions with the mayor of Fareham as representative of Hampshire Youth. His nomination alone is fantastic, as there are careful selection criteria for nomination - we are very proud of him! Swimathon student looking for sponsors Adele Gaskin is taking part in the Swimathon challenge this year. She will be swimming 5K on 28th April at the Mountbatten Centre in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care. She is currently looking for sponsors to help her reach her goal of raising £300 for this worthwhile charity, which is close to her heart, as her great auntie, a close neighbour and another friend are all currently battling against cancer. If anyone would like to support her in reaching this goal, all donations will help whether big or small. She has a sponsorship form or donations can be made online on the Swimathon website by following the links to her profile page.
