30th September 2011

Dear Parents/ Carers, Following discussions with parents at our Coffee Mornings we have decided to send a Newsletter each week to improve the flow of communication. This newsletter will be found on the School Website and we hope this will provide useful information. Nadine Powrie Headteacher Important Information You can easily access your child’s information, and follow the school’s activities through 3 means, please do not hesitate to have a look at them regularly.  Our website, http://www.nevillelovett.co.uk/  The new VLE system http://www.nevillelovett.hants.sch.uk/index.phtml?d=91361  ePortal http://eportal.nevillelovett.co.uk:86/ School Targets After last year’s exam success, we continue our efforts to reach our aim: to be outstanding by September 2012. That is why we set up new targets, towards which each member of staff is working every day: 5A*-C

100%

5A*-C including English and Maths

70%

School Uniform There has been some laxity in the school uniform. Let us remind you that students must have: - Tie fastened neatly - White Shirt tucked in - Black shoes Students may only wear one earring in each ear, a watch, and a single chain with religious symbol hidden from view. Furthermore, many girls have been seen wearing blouses instead of white shirts, which cannot be accepted as these do not have a top button. Children’s Care, Learning and Development Year 9,10 and 11 students can stay behind after school from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm each night to complete homework and coursework assignments for BTEC CCLD in A12, making use of the computer and the text books available. Students need to register their attendance with Mrs Gange. Home School Agreement This must be signed by all parents and students. Please do not forget to let us know in writing when your phone number or address details change.

Newsletter This Week’s Events Meet the tutor (Year 7) – 22nd September 2011

This proved to be a very successful evening where parents were able to put a name to the tutors face. It is very important that parents are able to communicate freely and effectively with their son/daughter’s tutor on a regular basis if necessary. The tutor is an extremely important person in the life of a student whilst at Neville Lovett and a lot of information is passed on through the tutor on a daily basis. It was also a good opportunity for me to meet a number of parents on the evening. Neil Edward, Head of Year 7 Maths Parents Workshop (Year 11) — 27th September 2011 Thank you to all parents that attended the Maths Year 11 Parents workshop. The feedback was very positive, parents said they found it very useful finding about things such as key dates and useful websites. Details of further workshops can be found in the calendar below. Andrea Willis, Assistant Headteacher Year 9 Football Team beat Crofton convincingly 4-0—28th September Off the back of an inspirational half time team talk by the manager (David Butterworth, Head of Year 9) and some important tactical changes, Danny Knee and Josh Roberts scored 2 goals apiece in the second half. Well done to the lads, Hampshire Cup continues next week!
