Dear Parents/ Carers, Next week the school will open its doors to parents of current Year 5 and 6 students for our Open Week. It is a great opportunity for us to show the school in action. Our Students’ Council will be taking the lead on Open Evening acting as guides for ou r visitors. We look forward to meeting the many prospective students and their parents during the week. Important Information: Year 7 Literacy All Year 7 students have been given complimentary dictionaries by Fareham Rotary club. They are currently using them as part of their Literacy sessions in English to boost Literacy levels across the year group. Get Samurai Smock Tops! Students have the opportunity to purchase Samurai smock tops with their surnames printed on the back as well as under armour garments . These have all been sourced at a reduced price allowing your son/daughter to stay warm which will subsequently improve performance. These can be worn in lessons as well as extra curricular clubs. For further information please contact Chris Collins, Head of PE, c.collins@nevillelovett.hants.sch.uk. Reward Trips Each term we select 50 students from each year group on a Reward Trip. These trips award the most deserving students, and they are a great incentive for them to boost their performance. They will take place as following: Year 7, 8 and 9 — Thursday, 15th December - Cinema Year 10 and 11— Friday, 16th December - Bowling GCSE Maths Exam All students in Year 11 will be sitting their GCSE Mathematics examination in November. Their first paper is on the 9th November 2011, and the second paper on 14th November 2011. They will need to have their own scientific calculator for the second paper as the school cannot provide them. Please encourage your son/daughter to revise by using www.mymaths.co.uk, www.samlearning.co.uk, mathswatch (on VLE) and looking at their notes. Revision guides are also on sale for £2.75 from the Maths Department. Year 8 HPV Vaccinations Reminder that the first of the 3 dates for HPV vaccinations will happen on Tuesday 11 th October. The remaining dates are: Tuesday 15th November and Tuesday 15th May. You must complete a valid parental consent form before vaccination can be carried out. These have been issued to your child. If you need a replacement then please come to the school reception. Year 10 Aim Higher Day 14 students will be going to an Aim Higher Day at Chichester University on 12 th October. Please make sure their consent forms are back to HOY by 10th October. Meet the Professional day is on the 19th October where 50 students will have the opportunity to talk to potential employers with a vocational background. Bravery award for one of our students Congratulations to Michael Moore, who received a bravery award for his actions when attending to a pedestrian who had been knocked down. He received the award at Fareham Fire Station. Facebook concerns We would like to ask all parents to be vigilant about Facebook at home. This week has seen a number of incidents which have affected our students — help us to prevent further instances.

Newsletter This Week’s Events: Netball Victory
Neville Lovett Senior Netball team WON the Fareham and Gosport Netball tournament on 4 October 2011 - making them the best team in the area!! Congratulations to the following students who took part: Carla Earle, Lauren Wallace, Chloe Allenby, Amy Jones, Faith Ali , Evie Wrixon, Katherine Hirst.
Sport Results Rugby (boys): Year 9 beat Henry Cort 64-0 and are still unbeaten since the beginning of Year 8; Year 11 lost 32-3 to cams Hill and 29-7 to Portchester Football (boys): Year 11 beat Henry Cort 5-0 and Crofton 4-3 but lost to Wildern in the Hampshire cup 4-2 last week. They also beat Bridgemary 3-1 – Goals from Jordan Lewry (Yr10), Sam Targett (Penalty) and Ryan Yates sealed a comprehensive victory. Year 10 beat Henry Cort and lost to Bayhouse 2-0 Netball: Year 9 beat Brookfield 9-2 and Bridgemary 11-0, Year 8 lost to Bayhouse 16-6 and to Henry Cort 12-8, Year 7 lost to Henry Cort 13-2 and to Bayhouse 13-6.
Care for the environment Y10 student that are on the skill force programme in collaboration with Henry Cort took part in a beach clean at Stokes Bay Hampshire. Students from both schools worked throughout the day. The students collected a large amount of rubbish from the stretch of beach.
Year 9 EBP Day On Wednesday 5th October, 50 Year 9s took part in an Education and Business day. In attendance was representatives from Highbury College, St Vincents, Chichester and Frontline. Students had the chance to learn about a range of businesses and colleges, ask questions and collect resources from these speakers. It was a very successful 2 hours, and students were talking about it all afternoon.

Year 7: Kate Churcher, a member of the Solent Scouts who competed in a recent regatta. She is an extremely keen sportsperson and her behaviour in tutor time has been exemplary. Year 8: Daniel Regnard, for showing responsibility and excellent resilience. Year 9: Josh Roberts for scoring 7 goals in 2 Year 9 football games. Year 10: Michael Moore. Year 11: Connor Jarvis, who played superbly in the match against Bridgemary on Wednesday. Connor was a great asset to the team, and Neville Lovett won 3-1.
