THE NEVILLE LOVETT COMMUNITY SCHOOL
ATTENDANCE POLICY We believe that: •
We have a duty in partnership with parents and the Local Education Authority to ensure maximum possible attendance.
•
Regular school attendance is essential for a student to benefit from the opportunities we offer.
•
Although attendanceis influenced by external factors, the school’s ethos and expectations have a significant effect on a student’s attitude to attendance at school.
In pursuit of maximum possible attendance we aim to: •
Show to students and parents that we value high attendance.
•
Create a positive and supportive working environment.
•
Keep our curriculum relevant and up to date so that it meets the needs of our students.
•
Administer an effective registration process.
•
Monitor attendance so that patterns of non-attendance can be identified quickly.
•
Address issues of non-attendance in partnership with parents and the Education Welfare Service.
•
Have support strategies for receiving back absentees.
