THE NEVILLE LOVETT COMMUNITY SCHOOL CHARGING POLICY

In accordance with current legislation it is the policy of the Governing Body: ♦ to levy the appropriate charge to parents/carers for all board and lodging requirements on residential visits, but to remit the board and lodging costs for students whose parents/carers are in receipt of relevant benefits. ♦ to levy charges for activities wholly or mainly outside school hours, where appropriate, and to request voluntary contributions from parents/carers for school activities in school time which can only take place if there is sufficient voluntary funding. ♦ to levy a proportion of the cost of peripatetic music tuition. ♦ to require parents/carers to pay the examination fees of a student who fails to complete coursework or attend examinations for which they have been entered. Absence from an examination may only be authorised for medical reasons. ♦ to require parents/carers to pay for replacement or repair following damage to school property for which their child is responsible. ♦ to require students to pay their own travel expenses, where incurred, for work experience placements. ♦ to ensure that, if possible, on occasions where charges may be sought or levied, no student is debarred from an activity or disadvantaged solely by the inability or unwillingness of parents/carers to pay. ♦ to seek additional funding, where appropriate, to support student activities.
