A FAMILY business built on quality and service is celebrating ten years in Newark. Kings Flooring of Appletongate continues to thrive and grow by concentrating on what it does best, according to Nigel King. “We are a local business offering a local service to local people,” he said. “We are very service-led — that’s what makes us different.” Kings Flooring is an independent flooring retailer that offers a wide range of products and services. The family-run business was established in October 2002 by Nigel and his father, Roger, now retired. Nigel already had 22 years’ retailing experience with other flooring specialists, and Roger had been 46 years in the flooring fitting trade. Nigel’s brother, Jonathan, with 23 years’ fitting experience, joined the team two years later. In 2006 Jonathan’s son,

The team will advise customers in choosing the right product for their home and their budget. They will carry
out all measuring and fitting, move furniture, trim doors to fit, and clear away old carpets. “Getting the right product is no good unless it’s fitted properly,” Nigel said. “We have got the product knowledge and installation experience to make sure people get a good job.” The company operates largely within a 30-mile radius of Newark, with its showroom in Appletongate the starting point for most customers. The showroom gives a good
flavour of the wide range of flooring choices available, from carpets and rugs to wood, vinyl, cushion flooring and trims. Rugs are enjoying particular popularity at the moment, and Kings Flooring has a new range just in.
