Newbold School A great start for a great future

An inclusive, independent Christian school in Binfield, Berkshire, for students aged 3-11 “We are fortunate to have a choice of prestigious schools in and around Binfield, but for me, as a parent and an alumnus, Newbold School stands out from the crowd because of the opportunities offered there: opportunities to thrive, to succeed, and to really carve individual pathways.

Welcome to Newbold School Newbold School is an independent fee-paying Christian primary school located in the village of Binfield in Berkshire, on a property with access to wide open spaces for children to play and learn. Over the last 80 years we have delivered a high-quality educational experience for pupils aged three to eleven, from Early Years/Reception to Year Six. Owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, we are part of one of the largest Christian educational networks in the world, and we welcome pupils from all backgrounds and faiths. Our culturally diverse school family – usually over 70 students – is welcoming and inclusive. We pride ourselves on providing a warm, caring environment for our students and on prioritising their social, spiritual, emotional, academic and physical development. Our small class sizes mean that our teachers are able to engage closely with students, fostering their development, identifying each individual student’s best profile for learning, and working with every one of them to help them achieve their best. Academically, Newbold School is known particularly for music and drama and a broad and balanced curriculum, which covers humanities, science, physical education, religious education, art, maths, English, and computing. Excellent teaching within small classes allows teachers to provide the support necessary for educating our children to the highest standard. Our learning is mainly driven by our strong values based on spirituality, global citizenship and positive learning behaviours.

Forest School

Thanks to our ideal location on the edge of a large green space, we have access to woodland areas with an abundance of flora and fauna. Consequently, we are fortunate to be able to provide interesting outdoor learning opportunities through ‘Forest School’ activities. This allows an abundance of fresh air and exercise and develops a better understanding of our local environment and a range of learning and developmental opportunities that are hard to come by in a more traditional classroom environment.

Early Years/Reception Our Early Years (nursery/reception) classes welcome students from three years of age, with intake from the term following their third birthday, and, depending on their individual situation, parents of our Early Years students are eligible for the 15/30 hours per week of government funding. • Foundation 1: age 3-4 • Foundation 2: age 4-5 We have a team of dedicated specialist teachers in our Early Years (nursery/ reception) classes who support and prioritise learning through play by providing a range of play-based activities underpinned by concepts of structured learning. We firmly believe that children of this age need to feel happy and secure in order to learn and we take every child’s needs into account during each activity and presentation. Our Early Years classes are the first for whom the Forest School concept is being rolled out, and we are already seeing enhanced problem-solving, social interactions and communication, and confidence. “Student success at Newbold School is achieved through intimate classes and a nurtured, guided education. The ambiance mirrors a typical family home - it is warm, caring and considered. Thanks to their journey through Newbold School, each child can embark on their secondary education as wholesome, well-rounded individuals.”

Our fees

As an independent school, Newbold School is fee-paying, but we encourage you to compare our fees with those of other independent schools in the area – you might be pleasantly surprised! We believe that a high-quality Christian education should be accessible to as many students as possible, and it is part of our mission to provide this at Newbold School by keeping our fees as low as we can. Please visit our website for current fee information.

A green school Over the years, our school has developed a strong interest in environmental conservation. We encourage students to learn about ways they can protect their environment, both locally and globally, run several recycling programmes and participate in a variety of environmental initiatives as we help our children prepare for a better future for their planet.
