Now Northamptonshire Limited 2022 has been unveiled and Central Foods is once again listed in the top 100 businesses.

Central Foods MD Gordon Lauder said: “Northamptonshire Limited is a prestigious list of the top performing businesses in the county and the Central Foods team is thrilled to have been included once again.

“Our frozen food distribution enterprise has its roots in Northamptonshire but operates across the UK – supplying a wide range of frozen foods to the food service sector. We are very proud to have gone from start-up to one of the UK’s leading frozen food distributors over the past 26 years and are delighted to have been recognised in Northamptonshire Limited 2022, alongside so many other worthy businesses.”

The top 100 companies in Northamptonshire achieved a combined turnover of £9.1 billion this year, according to the report.

Ryan Shields, Director at Grant Thornton UK LLP across Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes, said: benchmark for good manufacturing practice and help provide assurance to customers that products are safe, legal and of high quality.

Central Foods supplies a range of products to the food service sector. The company was founded more than 25 years ago and is proud to be a catering partner across the whole food service sector, supplying to hotels, restaurants, bars, universities, schools, pubs, care homes, garden centres, leisure outlets and more.

Northamptonshire-based Central Foods currently sells to over 180 independent wholesalers, as well as larger national and regional wholesalers.

“The Northamptonshire Limited report gives us an opportunity to assess how the county’s economy has fared over the past year by analysing the wealth created, retained and re-invested by key business decision makers.

“We can see that Northants’ leading companies have bounced back from a decline in turnover recorded in our 2021 report to achieve a significant increase in revenues and an impressive 43% rise in profitability. Against a backdrop of continued political and economic instability this is welcome progress.

“Through our work with leading companies across Northamptonshire we’re seeing first-hand how the county’s businesses are investing in their agility and resilience. The panel of local business leaders we discussed the report with provided key insights into the challenges and opportunities they are facing with a real focus on businesses culture key in attracting and retaining talent in a competitive employment landscape.”

Now in its tenth year, Northamptonshire Limited highlights the county’s leading privately owned companies by turnover and also takes a fresh look at the success of businesses by profitability and growth.
