Welcome to New Covenant! We believe God is good all the time and we gather on Sundays to celebrate His goodness. We are really glad you have decided to join us today! If you are new to New Covenant be sure to visit our Welcome Centre in the lobby to receive a special gift and a brochure designed to help you get the most out of your first few visits. Our hope is that as you take the next step into the New Covenant community and get involved, you will begin to see that NC is more than just a Sunday Morning celebration; it is a family of everyday people following Jesus together to bring hope and change to the world - one life at a time.
Celebrating God’s goodness
Common Grounds
A couple of weeks ago I asked an out-of-town friend to meet me at a local, independent coffee shop. While he had heard good things about this particular establishment and was curious about it, he had never visited the place himself and he wasn’t sure what to expect. However, after a little encouragement he agreed to meet me anyway. Visiting a coffee shop for the first time can be an overwhelming experience. If your usual options for coffee include either a decaf or regular in a small, medium, or large cup, even ordering a coffee at a specialty coffee shop can be intimidating. What is an ‘Americano’ or a ‘Black Eye’ or ‘Cafe Con Panna’ (my personal favourite)? Even if you can decide what you would like to drink you still have to choose a size. Short, Tall, Grande, Venti? Really? What does any of that mean? It looks like Latin but it’s all Greek to me. My friend opted out of the ‘coffee confusion’ all together and decided to have a tea. How complicated could that be? It was simple enough to order but after I ordered my drink I found him at a table staring at an empty glass and a large, clear, spoutless (that’s right - no spout) tea pot full of loose leaf tea. I understood what he was going through because the first time I ordered tea at this particular coffee shop I didn’t know what to do either. I talked him through it and the two of us enjoyed a good drink and some great conversation. We will probably meet there again some time soon. I think visiting a church for the first time can be a lot like that for our friends who do not usually go to church. Hopefully they are hearing good things about New Covenant from you. Hopefully you are piquing their interest and curiosity by telling them about Jesus and the church, the programs and events we offer, and the friends you have made here. Hopefully with a little enthusiastic encouragement from you they will overcome any reservations and fears they have about
church and be willing to check out New Covenant for themselves some day soon. Having you as a coach or tour guide for their first few visits could make all of the difference. Let them know that you’d be happy to pick them up or meet them at the door (make sure you arrive early and are waiting for them if you make this commitment). Try to give them lots of information in advance so they know what to expect and can feel as comfortable as possible. We have a welcome brochure as well as info on our website to help with this. Easter, which is coming up quickly (April 20), is a great opportunity to invite a friend to church. Many people are more open to going to church on Easter Sunday than any other Sunday of the year. Don’t miss this great opportunity for your friends to encounter Jesus. Keep in mind that a Sunday Celebration may not be the best NC event to invite your friend to for the first time. We offer regular ‘Bridge’ events like ‘Date Night’ and ‘The Hayride and Hoedown’ which can be less foreign and intimidating to someone who is not a regular church goer. Or why not introduce your friend to some of your friends from church at a party or BBQ at your place. This is another great way to help your friends feel comfortable at NC when they decide to join you on a Sunday.

We Need Your Help! It’s not uncommon for several of our ministry staff to shop for supplies each week. Our hope is to free up time for ministry by having someone help the pastoral team by shopping for ministry supplies. A list would be provided weekly and supplies could be purchased while you are doing your own shopping. Speak to a pastor for more info. New Covenant is hosting the Kidbuilders Conference on Saturday May 3. We need YOUR help! If you are able to assist us from 8 am until 4 pm in roles varying from registration, kitchen/food prep, servers, gofers, room monitors, clean-up crew, setup and tear down we need YOU! What’s in it for you? You’ll get a T-shirt and a post event pizza party in YOUR honour! For more information or to sign up, contact Pastor Jeff.
