October 2013 Welcome to New Covenant! We believe God is good all the time and we gather on Sundays to celebrate His goodness. We are really glad you have decided to join us today! Our hope is that as you take the next step into the New Covenant community and get involved, you will begin to see that NC is more than just a Sunday Morning celebration; it is a family of everyday people following Jesus together to bring hope and change to the world - one life at a time. If you have questions about anything feel free to speak with someone at the Welcome Centre (located in the lobby) or contact the church office. Our Contact info is on the back page.

Celebrating God’s goodness

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain September 21 marked our 25th anniversary as a church and we gathered as a church family to celebrate all the good things God has done through the years. As we move into our 26th year it is important for us to be looking ahead and looking to where God has called us to go in the next leg of our journey together. Paul says it this way in Philippians 3:13-14, “But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” I love Paul’s perspective. He could look back over his life with pride at all he had done for God but he would rather look ahead to what was still left to be done. The minute we stop to look backward we have ceased to move toward what God has called us to be. While it is ok (even good) to periodically look back at all we have done (and that God has done) we can’t allow that to stop our progress

toward the goal. Our purpose, our goal as a church is ‘Celebrating God’s goodness’. This involves living out our faith in such a way that people recognize that God is good and want to join us in celebrating His goodness. We have made great progress in this but we haven’t achieved the goal yet. On Nov. 2 the Leadership Team (pastors and elders) are setting a day apart to discuss how we can pursue this goal in the coming months and years. As our culture continues to change our stategies for ministering within that culture must also change. Ministry at the end of our next 25 years could look very different than it does today. Please be praying for the Leadership Team that we would know God’s leading and guiding. Pray that we would also have wisdom, insight and creativity as we discuss strategies for pursuing our goal in Brantford, Ontario, Canada and the world. When the Leadership Team meets on Nov. 2 our hope is to ‘Explore. Dream. Discover’ God’s plan for the next stage of New Covenant’s life and ministry. We want God’s leading and directing in this believing that even if He calls us out of safe harbour if we are sailing within His will, He will fill our sails with the Wind of the Spirit and do amazing things in us and through us.
