Celebrating God’s goodness!

Welcome to New Covenant! We believe God is good all the time and we gather on Sundays to celebrate His goodness. We are really glad you have decided to join us today! If you are new to New Covenant be sure to visit our Welcome Centre in the lobby to receive a special gift and a brochure designed to answer some of the questions you are probably asking and to help you get the most out of your first few visits. This handout is our monthly communications brochure and is designed to make you aware of everything that is happening at NC. Feel free to participate in as much or as little as you are ready for. Our hope is that as you take the next step into the New Covenant community and get more involved, you will begin to see that NC is more than just a Sunday Morning celebration; it is a family of everyday people following Jesus together to bring hope and change to the world - one life at a time.

Introducing Bridge Events

Jesus’ hope is that each of His followers would share their faith with their friends, family and neighbors. While 80% of regular churchgoers believe this most never share their faith. There are many reasons for this but the most common factors are being afraid of ridicule and rejection and feeling unprepared or unqualified. Beginning this month we are offering monthly ‘Bridge Events’ that are designed to make it easier than ever for you to invite individuals from your circle of influence to experience New Covenant and be introduced to Jesus in a non-threatening way. Many people will convert to community before they will convert to Christ. That means while your friends might not be ready to accept Jesus yet or even visit NC on a Sunday morning they are probably willing to spend time with you and some of your ‘church friends’. That is where ‘Bridge Events’ come in. ‘Bridge Events’ are opportunities to introduce people from your circle of influence to other people from New Covenant outside of a Sunday Celebration or Bible Study. Our hope is that as your friends from outside of NC meet your friends from within NC meet that a bridge will be built and eventually they will visit on a Sunday morning and have an opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel. Look for the ‘Bridge Event’ logo in our promotions as a indicator that this event is designed to be an introduction to the New Covenant community.

Our Purpose: Celebrating God’s goodness!

Our Mission: Helping one another to Encounter God, be Equipped by His Word, and Empowered by His Spirit to live a life that celebrates God.

Happening This month for Youth and Young Adults Jr. High: 411 Youth love the Internet. Yet not all info (411) is easy to find so some of them were asked this question: “What is one question about Christianity, the Bible, God, etc. that you have?” We sorted through all the questions (throwing out the ones about whether or not Superman will go to Heaven) and compiled the results. This four week 411 series is designed to give students information about their four most common questions.

Eight Things Christians SHOULD Be Known For

by Jarrid Wilson (jarridwilson.com) It seems that today’s Christians are more known by what they are against than for. And although there are plenty of things God has called us to turn our backs to, I strongly believe our holy anthem should be chorused by what we are for.

1. Love (1 John 4:8)

Love is an intrinsic value for any who call themselves Christ followers. In reality, I don’t believe that any can truly call themselves Bible-believing Christians and not showcase the act of love. No matter the circumstance, offering a helping hand of love is what sets us apart from the rest of the world. God loves us, even when we don’t reflect the same image in return. We owe it to others to offer them this same reality.

2. Grace (Ephesians 4:32)

The Grace of God has covered a multitude of sins, and the sacrifice made on the cross has paid the penalty for them. We are surely blessed. Although we don’t deserve the grace we have been generously handed, Jesus continues to extend a helping hand of it regardless of our situation. In the same way,

we as Christians should be known for the grace and forgiveness that we show others. It may not always be deserved, but we must always remember that neither was ours.

3. Purity (Philippians 4:8)

When Christians discuss the word “purity,” one must understand that we are implying more than just the topic of sex. Not only should we be known for our pureness in relationships, but in our speech, actions and motives, as well.

4. Patience (Galatians 5:22)

In today’s fast-paced, drive-thru, entrepreneurial world, patience is key. And while the rest of the world may like quickfixes and turnkey circumstances, the Word of God has called us to be patient amidst all things. This may not always be the easiest task, but it will always be the right path to choose.

We’ll contine with the final four next month. How are you doing with these four? Which one are you strongest in? Which one provides the greatest opportunity for growth? What can you work on this month? What four things do you think will be on the second half of the list?

Join us each Wednesday night in September as we host FOUR food trucks and a huge crowd of people from the city. This is a great opportunity for people from our community to learn more about New Covenant and all of the ministries and programs that we offer. The truck owners are donating 10% of their proceeds to the charities we have selected. If you have children in REVOLUTION (Jr. High) or ZAP (Gr.1 - Gr.5) why not plan to come for dinner and then stay to help while your children are in their ministries. We need help with directing people and traffic as well as clean-up. Let Pastor Lance know if you are able to help.
