In this new collection, Emma Jeffryes takes us on a journey through her beloved St Ives and beyond, to the towns and harbours along the beautiful Penwith coast path. Beginning in Penzance, these paintings are inspired by sketchbooks filled whilst walking the town’s seafront promenade, with its historic Art Deco lido, and on to the fishing port of Newlyn, with its sea walls, trawlers and vivid industrial heritage. From Newlyn, her paintings follow the coastline to the harbour town of Mousehole, with its small boats and bright buoys, and continue round the headland to the wild beauty of Lamorna Cove. In St Ives, her works take in the town’s familiar viewpoints and iconic structures: beaches, boats, terraces and the endless blue of the sea are seen framed through windows, or set against dazzling bursts of spring flowers, in a brilliant palette of seaside colours.
