When stationed in the Emergency Department, must appropriately respond to exceptional situations presented by physicians, nursing staff, patients, visitors, or the general public, with appropriate referral involvement of other health care professionals. Experience:  Admitting and Meditech experience preferred.  One year experience in hospital environment preferred. B. Education and Training:  Two years of college (secretarial/health related) or equivalent work experience.  Medical terminology preferred. C. License, Certification & Registration:  None. D. Other Requirements:  Proven typing ability (40 wpm) and computer skills (i.e., Meditech).  Manual dexterity necessary for typing/computer purposes.  Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to speak the English language in a clearly understandable manner.  Ability to speak/understand Spanish preferred.  Ideal candidate will demonstrate and maintain a high level of flexibility.  Proven ability to interact appropriately with the community, hospital staff and physicians while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.  Proven outstanding customer service skills, consistently demonstrating a professional and pleasant presentation.  Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.  Proven ability and experience dealing with agitated and or dissatisfied persons.  Must possess and demonstrate strong organizational skills.  Ability to troubleshoot and maintain proper operation of business equipment.  Knowledge of insurance/managed care preferred.  Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to use sound judgement in decision making.
