you're a meat eater who cares about the environment, you probably bring some guilt with you to the dinner table. The deforestation, greenhouse gas emissions, and air and water pollution associated with the meat on our plates have a huge negative impact on the environment. This is an unwelcome truth given the urgent need for the world to address climate change. That's a significant reason why items that resemble real meat but are produced completely of non-animal substances have recently appeared on supermarket shelves and burger joint menus. These fake meats the most well-known of which are Impossible Burger and Beyond Meat, are actively promoted toward traditional meat- eaters in contrast to the bean- or grain-based vegetarian burgers of previous decades.
What is fake meat?

are made of plants as "plant-based meat." These items contain meat and fish substitutes that are suitable for vegetarians in the following
forms:
But is fake meat healthy?
first thing to state is that fake meat is not meat, despite how clear it may sound. The meat industry has been heavily criticized for referring to these goods as meat, which led to a recent Senate Committee report that recommended obligatory regulation for the labeling of plant-based products.

It has been discussed that these cutting-edge meat substitutes may provide carnivores with a way to lessen the environmental impact of their dietary choices without having to give up their favorite dishes if they can satisfy a significant portion of our demand for meat and if they are as environmentally friendly as they claim to be, which is difficult to independently verify.
Some believe that may change everything. According to Elliot Swartz, a scientist with the Good Food Institute, a global nonprofit that promotes the development of meat alternatives, "people have been educated for a long time on the downsides of animal agriculture, yet the number of vegans and vegetarians generally remains low." "We believe it will be more successful in substituting items into people's diets where they don't have to make a behavior transition, rather than forcing them to make behavior adjustments," the statement reads.
There is no doubt that the modern meat business is harmful to the environment. However, not all meat animals are equally responsible for the issue. The carbon footprint of grazing animals like cattle, sheep, and goats is significantly greater than that of non-grazing animals like pigs and chickens. This is mostly because only the former burp methane, which is produced when gut microorganisms break down the cellulose in food like grasses.
Health benefits of fake meat
According to Taylor Wolfram, a registered dietician who specializes in veganism, many of the new fake meats, which are often manufactured with pea or soy, are "excellent sources of protein and the amino acid lysine, which most plant diets lack, aside from legumes."
While most plant-based meat substitutes do contain protein, registered dietitian and Intuitive Eating counselor Kara Lydon adds that Beyond and Impossible are the most comparable in terms of quantity to the foods they're trying to emulate. She claims that since most imitation meats have more fiber than genuine meat they generally keep you satiated for longer when paired with protein.
Additionally, a lot of "alternatives all contain very little saturated fat, which is frequently a nutrient of concern for those aiming to decrease their intake of red meat."
What about the cons?
A person may want to avoid certain qualities of plant-based meats and product like:
● Long lists of artificial chemicals, fillers, or additives may be something that some individuals would want to avoid. There is, however, no proof that these additions are dangerous.
● Added sugars: Even if they don't completely avoid them, a person may want to limit their intake of components with the suffix "ose," such as fructose, maltose, and glucose.
● Higher calories: This may be especially true if someone wants to reduce weight.
In conclusion, anyone with celiac illness or gluten intolerance should stay away from plant-based meats that contain essential wheat gluten or seitan. People should also be mindful that eating buns, sauces, and condiments with plant-based meats can increase their daily consumption of calories, sugar, and fat.
Optimal nutrition is very important for our health and wellness. Research has shown how our diet plays a big role in our cognitive health and brain function and how it can help prevent diseases. There are two crucial types of nutrients to take into consideration with regards to diet: Micronutrients and macronutrients: The former are essential for the growth of living organisms while the latter consist of fats, carbs, fibers, and protein that we consume in large amount.
Micronutrients contain Vitamin D which is crucial for the maintenance of our bone density. Research has found that people who lack in Vitamin D, can experience a decline in cognitive health.Magnesium, an important compound, is also a micronutrient and mineral. Then, there are Omega-3 fatty acids, which are crucial and essential for the brain and are its building blocks. The brain is composed of 60% of fats, which are known as DHA fats. Polyphenols are an important micronutrient and are very beneficial for our health. Polyphenols are compounds found in plant-based foods and leafy greens.Dark green leafy foods are especially rich in fiber and magnesium and have many benefits for the gut’s microbiome. Wheat and brown breads are also rich in insoluble fiber, reaching levels of up to 95%.
Fiber is a crucial macronutrient. It is a complex carb and has many health benefits. Because it feeds the microbiome, it is referred to as friendly carbs. However, there are also polyunsaturated fats, and these are a barrier to blood in the brain.A bagel contains on average 50 to 60 grams of carbs, and hyperglycemic insulin which has a negative impact on our organism, because half an hour after eating a bagel, you start feeling hungry, and are prompted to eat more. An egg on the other hand, has a lot of health benefits. Eggs are so nutritious they are often referred to as ‘Nature’s multivitamin’.
Another important factor to consider is exercise. When exercising, the hormone insulin feeds the body and brains cells. As a result, a protein called BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) is boosted in the brain.
BDNF has two crucial roles: 1)It promotes the creation of new cells in the brain, this is a process called neurogenesis; 2) BDNF levels in the brain can also be improved through the consumption of DHA fats which can be found in blueberries. Other vegetarian sources of DHA are seaweeds.

What supplements are youngsters
turning to?
You're not alone if you're a millennial (those between the ages of 22 and 37) and frequently feel like you're about to pass out. Numerous articles asserting that millennials are the Tired Generation may be found by quickly searching "millennial" and "tired" on Google.
The speed of our lives has substantially increased and grown much more demanding in recent years. Millennials in particular are affected by this. Fast food, stress, erratic sleep schedules, and a lack of exercise have all become routine. Maintaining a balanced diet full of all the nutrients is essential to fending against various problems caused by modern lifestyles.
However, we can no longer get all of our nourishment from a small number of meals. Supplements can assist maintain our bodies' general health in this situation. But how can we pick the best supplement when there are so many options?
Here is a list to guide us through the space:
Multivitamins
Supplements known as multivitamins are made up of the necessary vitamins and minerals the body needs to function correctly. Even though it is ideal to obtain all of our nutrients through food, many people are unable to satisfy their nutritional demands only by eating. The nutritional gaps in our diets are filled by multivitamins, which also give our bodies a steady supply of important nutrients. By giving your body the necessary vitamins and minerals, they shield it from illnesses and deficiency.
They have been demonstrated to lower
categorized based on the needs of men
The body needs omega-3 fatty acids as bodies' cholesterol levels are reduced as a result, improving our metabolism and heart health. Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), (DHA). Our body is unable to create this necessary fat. It comes from the food we eat. However, fish oil supplements nutrients, vitamins, and minerals for the body, it is abundant in omega-3. Focus having enough omega-3 in our bodies because it supports healthy breathing, musculoskeletal function. It also aids in
bone health, and muscle strength can all be preserved with vitamin D. Additionally, it raises immunity. According to studies, vitamin D may be able to reduce headache and migraine symptoms.
Biotin
The B complex vitamin family includes biotin, sometimes known as vitamin H. The body produces more keratin when biotin is present, which gives rise to healthy, lustrous hair. The creation of fatty acids nourishes the skin and aids in preserving its health, according to research. In addition, consuming biotin regularly assists to enhance our metabolism. Fast food, processed meals, an imbalanced diet, and other factors commonly affect how our bodies digest food. The digestive tract uses biotin to help break down complex carbohydrates and amino acids.
and brown rice mixture that has a complete amino acid profile is a well-liked form of plant-based protein. Plant-based protein is a good alternative for vegans and people with lactose intolerance, in contrast to whey protein, which is derived from cow's milk and contains lactose.
Compared to whey protein, they are more readily absorbed by our bodies. The body develops muscle, heals more quickly, and improves vigor and endurance as a result. So, plant-based protein is the way to go, whether it's for a demanding workout or just to increase our stamina.
Although supplements are not a replacement for a good, balanced diet, they do offer us the daily nutrients we need to be healthy and can therefore be a crucial step toward achieving optimum wellness.

MICROPLASTICS

BREAST MILK
Plastic pollution is still overwhelming ecosystems worldwide due to the exponential rise in plastic production, consumption, and disposal. These materials eventually break down into microplastics (MPs), which can seriously injure species, after being released into the environment.
What are microplastics?
Microplastics are plastic fibers and particles with a diameter of less than five millimeters (mm). Their diminutive size is what allows them to travel great distances from their producing location. In reality, MPs have been discovered in a variety of foods, including salt, honey, water (bottled and tap), and seafood, as well as in soil and the air.
We are seeing staggering amounts of plastic garbage worldwide since more than 350 million tonnes of plastic are produced annually on a global scale. In fact, it's estimated that our oceans contain 250,000 tons of plastic.
Findings of microplastic in breast milk
Microplastics have been discovered in human breast milk for the first time in a study published on June 30, 2022. In 26 of the 34 samples of breast milk, microplastics were found, according to the report that was published in Polymers.
The moms' use of food and drink in plastic packaging was recorded by the researchers to help guide their research. They also recorded how often each individual used plastic-contained personal hygiene products.
The size, shape, color, and chemical makeup of the discovered microparticles were categorized. The microplastics, which ranged in size from two to 12 mm, were often made of polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, and polypropylene. Raman Microspectroscopy, a type of vibrational spectroscopy that makes use of light's inelastic scattering, was used to analyze the breast milk samples.
The discovery of microplastics in breast milk may be a first. Still, some human placentas—an organ that forms in the uterus during pregnancy—have also been shown to contain microplastics, according to an earlier study that served as the basis for the current research. Four out of the six placentas that were analyzed had 12 microplastic particles, according to Raman microspectroscopy.
Researchers found that the bulk of microplastics was found in coatings, paints, adhesives, plasters, finger paints, polymers, cosmetics, and personal care products that were manufactured by humans.
When plastic is released into the environment, it degrades due to the impact of atmospheric agents like waves, abrasion, UV radiation, and photo-oxidation, as well as biological processes. This degradation process results in the development of microplastics.
Plastic pollution on the rise
According to Revell, researchers don't yet know at what altitude microplastics will have an impact on the climate. Her team calculates that if microplastics remain near the planet's surface, they have a negligible cooling effect of roughly 0.75 mW/m2. Microplastics are probably adding 0.045 mW/m2 or more to global warming if they travel as far as 10 km from the Earth's surface.
Final thoughts
It has been advised that pregnant women should pay particular attention to avoiding food and drink packaged in plastic, cosmetics, and kinds of toothpaste containing microplastics, and clothes made of synthetic fabrics.

ALCOHOL AND WEIGHT
Alcohol increases calorie intake.
Every type of alcohol has calories, which are a sort of energy. Because people don't drink alcohol to quell their hunger or complete their nutritional demands, these calories are "extra." Alcohol, therefore, offers "empty" calories. The body accumulates excess energy as fat when it absorbs more energy than it requires (either through excessive eating or drinking).
Alcohol reduces metabolism.
Your body consumes food and converts it to energy through a process called metabolism. This energy is used by your body for movement, activity, and exercise as
Which drinks lead to more weight gain: beer, or wine?
Depending on how much you consume. While the calories in various types of alcohol vary, all can contribute to weight gain if consumed in excess.
The approximate calorie counts of beer, wine, and alcoholic beverages are as follows:
● 12 oz. of beer has 150 calories.
● 5 oz. of wine has 120 calories.
● Alcohol: 1.5 ounces has 100 calories.
particular, with the abdominal weight increase.
Can giving up alcohol aid in weight loss?
Quitting drinking is a good approach to help your weight loss efforts if you're struggling to drop extra weight. This is especially true if you often drink and/or when you do, you have more than one or two drinks.
What advantages does giving up alcohol have for your health?
Alcohol is not a necessary part of our diet, unlike food and water. In actuality, consuming too much alcohol has harmful effects on one's health.
Final thoughts
Drinking alcohol (particularly more than one or two drinks per day) increases food cravings, slows metabolism, and adds extra calories to your diet. One efficient way to lose extra weight is to stop drinking alcohol altogether or reduce your consumption, especially when combined with other evidence-based weight loss strategies.
Beyond merely reducing the number of calories you consume, it also offers significant advantages for your mental and physical health. Alcohol use can be restricted or eliminated to increase energy levels, sleep quality, and self-esteem, all of which are strongly correlated with weight.

As we age, our body changes, naturally affecting the function of some organs as well as the function of our hormonal system. Aging results in changes within the female reproductive system where the ovaries will start to work less, and thus generate less estrogen and progesterone hormones. This in turn leads to inconsistent periods that may eventually stop.
Menopause starts officially when women have no period for twelve months. The common age at which most women start menopause is 51. The symptoms of menopause might start as early as the age of forty or might not appear until the late fifties.
The following are some changes that occur in a woman’s reproductive system after menopause:
● The ovaries will stop producing the estrogen and progesterone hormones.
● The ovaries will stop releasing eggs (ovocyte), which means women cannot get pregnant from this point onwards.
● Period will stop.
Our body’s organs are all connected, and a decrease in estrogen and progesterone production can cause changes within the entire body system, including:
● Thinning, drying and less elasticity of the vaginal walls.
● Increased risk of vaginal yeast infections.
● Hot flashes, moodiness, headaches, sleeping disruption
● Increased risk for urinary tract infection with increase in urgent and frequent urination.
Luckily, there are some approaches to minimize these menopausal symptoms, and these include the following:
Starting hormone therapy with estrogen or progesterone. This helps in the reduction of hot flashes or vaginal dryness.
Using vaginal moisturizers that may help with vaginal and vulvar discomfort due to the drying and thinning of tissues. To increase moisture and sensitivity, you can apply topical estrogen inside the vagina, which helps thicken the vaginal tissues.
Eating foods that are rich in calcium and vitamin D. A diet rich in calcium and vitamin D is important to prevent bone loss and to preserve healthier stronger
Exercising and having a lively social life can help smooth the aging process. Regular exercise can help relieve menopause symptoms such as sleep disruptions, anxiety, and fatigue. It can also help preserve healthy weight and protect against many diseases and conditions.
Every woman has a distinctive body and therefore the transition to menopause begins and ends at different times. Family history and some habits like smoking can play a role in the timing and cause it to happen earlier or later.
Whenever women hit menopause, it is important to simply accept themselves unconditionally and adapt to grow focusing on a healthier body and Lama Massoud is an experienced writer and has worked with Newgate for more than 2 years.
