FAKE MEAT All you need to know
If you're a meat eater who cares about the environment, you probably bring some guilt with you to the dinner table. The deforestation, greenhouse gas emissions, and air and water pollution associated with the meat on our plates have a huge negative impact on the environment. This is an unwelcome truth given the urgent need for the world to address climate change. That's a significant reason why items that resemble real meat but are produced completely of non-animal substances have recently appeared on supermarket shelves and burger joint menus. These fake meats the most well-known of which are Impossible Burger and Beyond Meat, are actively promoted toward traditional meat- eaters in contrast to the bean- or grain-based vegetarian burgers of previous decades.
What is fake meat? People refer to items that resemble meat products but are made of plants as "plant-based meat." These items contain meat and fish substitutes that are suitable for vegetarians in the following varieties and forms: ● Chicken
● Burgers
● Tuna
Sausages
● Ground Beef
● Salmon
● Scampi
● Prawns
But is fake meat healthy? The first thing to state is that fake meat is not meat, despite how clear it may sound. The meat industry has been heavily criticized for referring to these goods as meat, which led to a recent Senate Committee report that recommended obligatory regulation for the labeling of plant-based products.
It has been discussed that these cutting-edge meat substitutes may provide carnivores with a way to lessen the environmental impact of their dietary choices without having to give up their favorite dishes if they can satisfy a significant portion of our demand for meat and if they are as environmentally friendly as they claim to be, which is difficult to independently verify. Some believe that may change everything. According to Elliot Swartz, a scientist with the Good Food Institute, a global nonprofit that promotes the development of meat alternatives, "people have been educated for a long time on the downsides of animal agriculture, yet the number of vegans and vegetarians generally remains low." "We believe it will be more successful in substituting items into people's diets where they don't have to make a behavior transition, rather than forcing them to make behavior adjustments," the statement reads. There is no doubt that the modern meat business is harmful to the environment. However, not all meat animals are equally responsible for the issue. The carbon footprint of grazing animals like cattle, sheep, and goats is significantly greater than that of non-grazing animals like pigs and chickens. This is mostly because only the former burp methane, which is produced when gut microorganisms break down the cellulose in food like grasses.
Health benefits of fake meat According to Taylor Wolfram, a registered dietician who specializes in veganism, many of the new fake meats, which are often manufactured with pea or soy, are "excellent sources of protein and the amino acid lysine, which most plant diets lack, aside from legumes." While most plant-based meat substitutes do contain protein, registered dietitian and Intuitive Eating counselor Kara Lydon adds that Beyond and Impossible are the most comparable in terms of quantity to the foods they're trying to emulate. She claims that since most imitation meats have more fiber than genuine meat they generally keep you satiated for longer when paired with protein. Additionally, a lot of "alternatives all contain very little saturated fat, which is frequently a nutrient of concern for those aiming to decrease their intake of red meat."
What about the cons? A person may want to avoid certain qualities of plant-based meats and product like: ●
Long lists of artificial chemicals, fillers, or additives may be
something that some individuals would want to avoid. There is, however, no proof that these additions are dangerous. ●
Added sugars: Even if they don't completely avoid them, a person
may want to limit their intake of components with the suffix "ose," such as fructose, maltose, and glucose. ●
Higher calories: This may be especially true if someone wants to
reduce weight. In conclusion, anyone with celiac illness or gluten intolerance should stay away from plant-based meats that contain essential wheat gluten or seitan. People should also be mindful that eating buns, sauces, and condiments with plant-based meats can increase their daily consumption of calories, sugar, and fat.
WHAT IS OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER? What are the symptoms of OCD?
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental illness characterized by recurrent thoughts (obsessions) and behaviors (compulsions). They obstruct your life, yet you have no power to stop or control them.
Causes of OCD Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) has no known cause. Your environment, genetics, and the biology and chemistry of your brain could all be contributing factors.
Risk factors for OCD Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) typically manifests in adolescence or early adulthood. OCD frequently manifests in boys earlier than in girls.
●
Family background: A larger risk exists for those who have a first-degree family with OCD, such as a parent, sibling, or kid. This is particularly valid if the relative experienced OCD as a young kid or adolescent.
●
Brain structure and function: According to imaging studies, the brains of OCD sufferers differ in a few specific areas. To fully understand how the changes in the brain are related to OCD, more research is required.
●
Childhood trauma: Child abuse is one type of childhood trauma. OCD and childhood trauma have been linked in certain research. To properly comprehend this link, more study is required.
●
In certain instances, children who have had a streptococcal infection may go on to develop OCD or symptoms of OCD. Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections is the name of this condition (PANDAS).
Symptoms of OCD Obsessional symptoms, compulsive symptoms, or both may be present in OCD patients:
Obsessions Obsessions are anxious-inducing, recurrent thoughts, desires, or mental images. They could include things like:
●
Sensitivity to contamination or germs
●
Anxiety about misplacing or losing something
●
Anxiety about potential harm to oneself or others
●
Unwanted ideas regarding sex or religion that are forbidden
●
Aggressive ideas about oneself or other people requiring everything to be perfectly aligned or arranged in a specific, precise manner
Compulsions Compulsions are behaviors that you feel compelled to repeat to calm your anxiety or put an end to your obsessive thoughts. Compulsions that are frequent include:
●
Excessive washing of hands or cleaning
●
Checking items repeatedly, such if the door is locked or the oven is off
●
Constant counting
●
Placing and arranging items in a certain, exact manner
Some OCD sufferers also struggle with Tourette syndrome or other tic disorders. Tics are sudden, repetitive twitches, motions, or noises. Tics sufferers are unable to control what their bodies are doing.
Diagnosis of OCD The first step is to discuss your symptoms with your healthcare professional. Your doctor should examine you and inquire about your medical background. He or she must confirm that your symptoms are not being caused by a physical issue. Your healthcare practitioner can suggest that you seek additional assessment or treatment from a mental health professional if it appears to be a mental disorder.
The diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) can occasionally be challenging. Its signs are similar to those of other mental illnesses, like anxiety disorders. It is also possible to suffer from OCD in addition to other mental illnesses. OCD is not always present in people with obsessions or compulsions. When you:
●
Can't control your thoughts or activities, even when you are aware that they are excessive
●
Spend at least one hour each day thinking about these ideas or behaviors
●
Don't enjoy yourself while engaging in the behaviors. But by performing them, you can momentarily feel less anxious as a result of your ideas.
●
Having substantial issues with these beliefs or actions in your day-to-day life.
Treatments for OCD Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is mostly treated with medication, cognitive behavioral therapy, or both:
Cognitive behavioral therapy One kind of psychotherapy is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). It teaches you many approaches to thinking, acting, and responding to compulsions and obsessions. Exposure and Response Prevention (EX/RP) is a specialized form of CBT that can be used to treat OCD. EX/RP gradually exposes you to your obsessions or phobias. You develop wholesome coping mechanisms for the distress they generate.
Medicines: Some antidepressants are included in OCD medications. Your doctor might advise using another kind of mental medication if those don't help you.
Final thoughts Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental health issue, and this must be kept in mind. As with all mental health issues, receiving assistance as soon as symptoms start to show helps lessen the impact on your life. You can manage your obsessions and compulsions with the support of treatment plans that medical doctors and mental health specialists can provide.

THE SUPERIORITY OF AVOCADOS.
Avocados are a favourite for many, but their superiority is a polarising topic of discussion due to people's differences in opinion. Some people believe that these berries' health benefits and versatility make them superfoods, while others think it's a façade created by super marketing. Despite the varying opinions, it can be said with confidence that avocados have many benefits. So, let's look at some of these benefits!
1. Promote heart health Avocados contain significant amounts of monounsaturated fatty acids, vital in lowering low-density lipoproteins, also known as bad cholesterol. Research has shown that eating an avocado a day reduces the occurrence of these lipoproteins and, in turn, lowers the risk of heart disease. 2. High in fiber These buttery berries contain approximately 7 grams of fiber for every 100 grams. Fiber increases satiety and reduces a person’s chances of overeating; this regulates appetite and favours people that are trying to cut back on their portion sizes while staying healthy. Fiber also promotes bowel health by preventing constipation.
3. High in Potassium Evidence shows that avocados contain 485 mg of potassium per 100gms. Potassium is essential in nerve function, muscle strength, and blood pressure regulation. 4. Improve vision Including avocados in one’s diet is likely to improve vision because avocados contain antioxidants like Lutein that provide eye protection and minimize damage from ultraviolet sun rays. A particular research study confirms this statement. During the study, a third of the participants ate an avocado every day for 6 months, while the other participants ate potatoes and chickpeas. After the study, Lutein increased by 25 % for those who consumed avocado and only 15% for the other participants. 5. Rich in folate According to the USDA, 100 grams of avocado contain 81 micrograms of folate. Folate, also known as vitamin B9, lowers the risk of neural tube defects in newborn babies and reduces the occurrence of childhood leukemia.

SYMPTOMS OF SEASONAL DEPRESSION: HOW TO FIGHT IT OFF?
You may have the classic signs of seasonal affective disorder (SAD), a type of depression brought on by changes in the length of the day and the weather that primarily occur in the winter. If shorter days and weather changes sap your energy and make you feel down. What causes SAD in some people? Although experts are unsure, some believe that seasonal changes interrupt the body's circadian rhythm, the 24-hour clock that controls how we behave while awake and asleep, causing us to occasionally feel invigorated and alert and occasionally drowsy. The disruption of hormones that control sleep, mood, and emotions of well-being, like serotonin and melatonin, by the change of the seasons is another idea.
Symptoms of seasonal depression The following are some typical indications and symptoms of SAD, regardless of its underlying causes: 1- Depression-like emotions pervade the majority of each day, on a seasonal basis. 2- Experiencing fatigue or low energy 3- Loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities 4- Appetite adjustments or weight gain 5- Sleeping excessively
Ways to fight seasonal depression Here are a few strategies you might want to think about in order to manage SAD. Medications can help Antidepressant medication helps some SAD patients, especially when symptoms are severe. The antidepressant bupropion, sold under the brand names Wellbutrin XL and Aplenzin, has an extended-release formulation that may help persons with a history of SAD avoid depressive episodes. To treat SAD, other antidepressants may also be often used. Your doctor may advise beginning antidepressant therapy before your symptoms generally appear each year. Additionally, he or she might advise you to keep taking the antidepressant after your symptoms have typically subsided. Remember that it can take a few weeks before you get all of an antidepressant’s benefits. Additionally, you might need to test a few various medications before you find the one that suits you well and has the fewest adverse effects. Home remedies Make your surroundings more luminous and sunny. Open your blinds, trim any sun-blocking tree branches, or install skylights in your home. While at home or at the office, sit closer to windows that are light.
Step outdoors. Go for a long walk, have lunch in a park close by, or just relax on a bench in the sunshine. Outdoor light is beneficial, even on chilly or foggy days, especially if you spend some time outside within two hours of waking up.
Stress and anxiety can worsen the symptoms of SAD, therefore exercise and other physical activities can assist. Additionally, feeling better about yourself due to increased fitness might improve your mood. Make sleeping habits normal. Establish regular wake-up and sleep hours each day. Reduce or stop napping and oversleeping, especially for SAD which begins in the fall or winter.
Get more light
Start waking an hour earlier to adjust your internal clock and make your days longer and more light-filled. Purchase a lightbox or add more lighting to your home. It's important to note that although the FDA has not authorized lightboxes, that doesn't mean they are ineffective. Before making an investment, talk to your provider to make sure you are choosing the best one for you. Some SAD symptoms, such as low energy, decreased productivity, and desperation, may be lessened by it.
It might be time to speak with your doctor or get in touch with a behavioral health specialist if you've had symptoms of SAD for longer than two weeks and lifestyle modifications aren't working to improve them. Depression is a serious disorder, and the longer it goes without treatment, the more difficult the recovery will be.

For carbs, prioritize first-class over amount. Instead, Schulz, a professor of vitamins and food science at the University of Minnesota, proposes looking at carbohydrate quality rather than quantity. When it comes to the pleasant effects of carbohydrates, they endorse looking at elements inclusive of the share of complete grains, whether there’s any added sugar, the total amount of fiber, and the ratio of overall carbohydrates to the quantity of fiber and introduced sugar. If those factors could be summed up in a single sentence, it would be "Eat more unprocessed meals." This is something that we all realize is right for us in principle. However, when it comes to the many, many food selections we make each day, it could be all too easy to simply focus on the quantity of carbs, in preference to the quality, letting the culmination and veggies fall by the wayside.
THE HEALTH DIARIES DISCOVER THE SIRTFOOD DIET
WHAT IS THE SIRTFOOD DIET ? When it comes to diet and weight loss, there are always new trends that seem to pop up with new regimes of eating and reducing weight, and the Sirtfood Diet is one of the latest. What is it exactly? The principle of sirtfood diet is that it consists of beneficial plant compounds called polyphenols which increase the production of proteins called sirtuins and know for imitating the effects of fasting and exercise. Sirtuins are a group of proteins that regulate several functions in the body including metabolism, inflammation, and lifespan. Certain foods called sirtfoods may cause the body to increase the production of these proteins. Therefore, “sirtfoods” are known as the key to unlocking fat loss and preventing disease. Sirtfood diet is advertised as the revolutionary diet that provided a health plan that works by turning on your “skinny gene.” The diet consists of two phases: The first week of the diet, which is referred to as the hyper-success phase, includes drinking 2-3 green juices and eating up to two meals a day, restricted to 1,000 calories. The next two weeks of the diet are referred to as the maintenance phase, during which it is recommended you consume three meals per day, one green juice, and 1-2 sirtfood bites. Some options of plant foods that contain polyphenols and can be included in sirtfood diets are kale, red wine, strawberries, onions, soy, parsley, extra virgin olive oil, dark chocolate (85% cocoa), matcha green tea, buckwheat, turmeric, medjool dates, walnuts, arugula (rocket), bird’s eye chili, lovage, red chicory, blueberries, capers, coffee. These healthy foods contain natural plant compounds and have health protective properties. So, you may want to integrate them in your meals and snacks once following a sirtfood diet.

YOGA
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW
On June 21, 2022, the world celebrated the eighth International Day of Yoga. Let's take a closer look at its history and benefits. Yoga literally translates to "unity." Union is when you start to realize how universal you are. For instance, current science can now show you without a shadow of a doubt that everything in the universe is just one energy that manifests itself in different ways. You are doing yoga if the scientific fact that everything is connected to everything else becomes a reality for you. When practicing yoga, you view everything as a component of yourself.
History Due to sacred texts' oral transmission, as well as the secrecy surrounding its teachings, much of yoga's past is shrouded in mystery and confusion. The earliest teachings of yoga were originally written on flimsy palm leaves that might be easily ruined, lost, or damaged. Although some academics believe that yoga may be up to 10,000 years old, its evolution may be traced back to more than 5,000 years ago. The four primary eras of innovation, practice, and progress in yoga's lengthy and rich history can be distinguished.
Pre-Classical Yoga Over 5,000 years ago, the Indus-Sarasvati culture in Northern India created the earliest forms of yoga. The Rig Veda, one of the earliest sacred books, is where the word "yoga" first appears. The Vedas were a body of writings utilized by Brahmans, the Vedic priests, and contained hymns, mantras, and ceremonies. The Brahmans and Rishis (mystic seers), who documented their practices and ideas in the Upanishads, a massive compilation with more than 200 texts, gradually improved and enhanced yoga.
Classical Yoga Yoga's pre-classical era saw it assimilate a variety of concepts, viewpoints, and practices that frequently clashed and contradicted one another. The first systematic presentation of yoga by Patanjali, the Yoga-Sûtras, is what distinguishes the Classical era. This document, which was likely written in the second century, describes the way of RAJA YOGA, sometimes known as "classical yoga." To achieve Samadhi or enlightenment, Patanjali divided the practice of yoga into an "eight-limbed route," or progression. Since his Yoga-Sûtras are still a major impact on the majority of contemporary yoga systems, Patanjali is frequently regarded as the founder of yoga.
Post-Classical Yoga A few centuries after Patanjali, yoga teachers developed a set of techniques intended to revitalize the body and lengthen life. They disregarded the ancient Vedic teachings and supported the use of the physical body as a path to enlightenment. To untie the knots holding us to our physical life, they created Tantra Yoga, an extreme kind of self-purification. What we typically think of as yoga in the West is called Hatha Yoga, and it was developed through the discovery of these physical-spiritual linkages and body-centered practices.
Modern Era Yoga gurus started to visit the West in the late 1800s and early 1900s, drawing interest and disciples. Swami Vivekananda's teachings on yoga and the commonality of all religions at the 1893 Parliament of Religions in Chicago catalyzed this. With the help of T. Krishnamacharya, Swami Sivananda, and other Hatha Yoga practitioners, Hatha Yoga was vigorously promoted in India during the 1920s and 1930s. In Mysore, Krishnamacharya founded the first Hatha Yoga school in 1924, and on the banks of the sacred Ganges River, Sivananda established the Divine Life Society in 1936. Three of Krishnamacharya's pupils—B.K.S. Iyengar, T.K.V. Desikachar, and Pattabhi Jois—would carry on his legacy and broaden the appeal of Hatha Yoga. In addition to founding nine ashrams and several yoga centres all over the world, Sivananda was a prolific author who penned more than 200 books on yoga.

Benefits of Yoga It improves flexibility With the help of yoga, you can increase the range of motion in your tight places by moving your body and stretching in novel ways. Your hamstrings, back, shoulders, and hips should get more flexible over time. Flexibility typically declines with age, especially if you spend a lot of time sitting down, which can cause pain and immobility. Yoga can assist in stopping this process.
It builds strength When doing yoga, you must support your body weight in a variety of creative and frequently challenging ways, such as by standing on one leg or using your arms, in order to perform several yoga postures. By holding these poses for a number of breaths, you can improve your muscles' endurance and strength. Muscle tone should be improved as a side effect of strength gains. Your legs, arms, back, and stomach may develop long, slender muscles as a result of yoga.
It improves balance Any age can benefit from balance training. Athletes believe yoga can increase their strength and energetic people discover that it can improve their exercises and fitness level. You can move more effectively through daily life by practicing balance since it improves posture and functionality. Yoga focuses more on finding your sense of oneness with nature, the world, and yourself than it does on physical fitness. It can improve well-being by altering our lifestyle and fostering consciousness.

India's health ministry is on alert following a surge of Covid cases in neighbouring China. The government has instructed states to ensure genome sequencing of all positive cases in the country. India witnessed two deadly waves of Covid in 2020 and 2021, but has seen low infection levels this year. According to government data, the country reports roughly 1,200 Covid cases every week. Don't Delay Your Mammogram After Getting the COVID-19 Vaccine
Dietitians across the UK have said they are constantly trying to convince patients to not take up fad diets.
Patients who were recently vaccinated or received a booster for COVID-19 can experience axillary adenopathy, or swelling in the lymph nodes of their armpit, the Society for Breast Imaging (SBI) states.
The British Dietetic Association (BDA) has urged Brits to say 'No Thank You' to fad diets. Experts warned that many of the plans shared can’t be sustained long-term and can actually cause more harm than good. This can lead to yoyo dieting, muscle loss, nutrient deficiencies and ultimately metabolic adaptation, which can cause more weight to be regained in the long-term, they said.
While swollen lymph nodes is a relatively common side effect of getting the COVID-19 vaccine, seeing or feeling a lump around the breast can cause anxiety. SBI shares that healthcare providers can alleviate fears by telling patients, "Vaccines of all types can result in temporary swelling of the lymph nodes, which is a sign that the body is making antibodies in response to the vaccine as intended."

CALCIUM WHAT ALL ATHLETES NEED IN ABUNDANCE
Introduction Calcium is an essential mineral for human health. It is most commonly known for its role in bone health, but it also plays a role in muscle contraction, blood clotting, and nerve signaling. For bodybuilders, calcium is especially important for maintaining bone health and preventing injuries. When you lift weights, you put stress on your bones, which can lead to microfractures. Calcium helps to repair these microfractures, making your bones stronger and more resistant to injury. In addition to bone health, calcium also plays a role in muscle contraction. When you lift weights, your muscles contract to move the weight. Calcium is essential for this contraction process. Without enough calcium, your muscles will not be able to contract properly, which can lead to decreased performance and increased risk of injury. Calcium and Bone Health Bones are made up of two main types of tissue: cortical bone and trabecular bone. Cortical bone is the hard, outer layer of bone, while trabecular bone is the spongy, inner layer of bone. Calcium is essential for the formation and maintenance of both cortical and trabecular bone. It helps to make bones stronger and more resistant to fracture.
In addition to its role in bone formation, calcium also helps to prevent bone loss. As we age, our bodies naturally lose bone mass. This process is called osteoporosis. Calcium can help to slow down the rate of bone loss and prevent osteoporosis. Calcium and Muscle Contraction When you lift weights, your muscles contract to move the weight. This contraction process is triggered by a chemical signal called a calcium ion. Calcium ions are released from the sarcoplasmic reticulum, a membrane-bound structure within the muscle cell. When calcium ions are released, they bind to proteins on the surface of the muscle fibers. This binding process triggers a series of events that leads to muscle contraction. Without enough calcium ions, muscle contraction will not be able to occur. This can lead to decreased performance and increased risk of injury. Calcium Recommendations for Bodybuilders The recommended daily intake (RDI) of calcium for adults is 1,000 milligrams (mg) for men and 1,200 mg for women. However, bodybuilders may need to consume more calcium than the RDI, especially if they are following a high-protein diet. A high-protein diet can increase the amount of calcium that is lost in the urine. This is because protein metabolism produces acids, which can leach calcium from the bones.
To prevent calcium loss, bodybuilders should consume plenty of calcium-rich foods. Some good sources of calcium include: - Dairy products: milk, cheese, yogurt - Dark green leafy vegetables: kale, broccoli, spinach - Calcium-fortified foods: orange juice, cereal, tofu Bodybuilders may also want to consider taking a calcium supplement. However, it is important to talk to a doctor before taking any supplements, as too much calcium can be harmful. Conclusion Calcium is an essential mineral for bodybuilders. It is important for bone health, muscle contraction, and preventing injuries. Bodybuilders should consume plenty of calcium-rich foods and may want to consider taking a calcium supplement. Additional Information - The absorption of calcium is affected by a number of factors, including the amount of vitamin D in the diet. Vitamin D helps the body to absorb calcium. - Calcium supplements are available in a variety of forms, including tablets, capsules, and liquids. - It is important to take calcium supplements with food to improve absorption. - If you are taking calcium supplements, it is important to talk to your doctor to make sure that you are not taking too much.
