Day 1 Grow through Your Challenges Brian Dozier All-Star Second Baseman Los Angeles Dodgers By Del Duduit
You have delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes. —Psalm 54:7
“I didn’t know it at the time, but what I went through was a true blessing in disguise,” Brian Dozier said. “The Lord knew what He was doing, but I didn’t at the time.” It appeared to be the right decision. Brian passed on the MLB draft, opting instead to stay at the University of Southern Mississippi to finish his senior year and earn his degree. He was a sure-fire bet to make it in the big leagues. He made All-American his freshman year. In 224 career college games, he posted a .355 average with fifty-five doubles and seven triples, along with sixteen home runs. In 2009, he led his squad to the College World Series. During his senior year, he dove to make a play and shattered his collarbone.
