Welcome Athletes, On behalf of all of us at IRONMAN, welcome to race day. You have made it to the start line, an accomplishment in itself, and stand ready to realize your IRONMAN 70.3 dreams. We are profoundly inspired by the extraordinary discipline, perseverance, and passion that have brought you to this point and all of those miles you put in and all of the sacrifices you’ve made will soon be worth it. Take time to enjoy the course and embrace the challenges along the way. Cherish your moments at the finish line as you recognize your place in IRONMAN history. As our founder John Collins once said, “The pain is temporary, and the memories will last the rest of your life.” The IRONMAN triathlon is the standard by which endurance sports are measured. In just over 35 years, our sport has expanded from one race to more than 100 events in nearly 30 countries across six continents, and has carved out its own unique legacy in sports history thanks to our inspiring athletes and the thousands of unforgettable moments they’ve provided while they race to prove “Anything is Possible®.” Embrace the emotion of race morning, the rush of adrenaline in transition and the overwhelming joy as you cross the finish line. Those feelings are contagious and we hope you will share your experience with others, helping further our great sport along the way. Today, whether you strive to set a new IRONMAN 70.3 course record, earn a personal best, or simply test your limits and finish, we hope you enjoy every single mile of your race. Our staff and team of volunteers stand ready to meet your needs as you set forth on this incredible journey—from the moment you enter the water to that final stretch across the finish line. Be strong and race safe.
On behalf of the IRONMAN Asia-Pacific team, I would like to welcome you to the 2015 Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay. The inaugural event is the newest race to be added to the growing Philippine triathlon scene. An exciting new destination and great course, Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay is set to become a hallmark annual event not to be missed. The sport has seen a surge of growth in recent years throughout the region with the flagship Cobra Energy Drink IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines in Cebu filled its 2,500 spots in 40 minutes and the introduction of two 5150 events in Subic Bay and Bohol. We are delighted to be partnering with Sunrise Events, the Philippine’s leading sporting event company. The team have been at the forefront of the flourishing IRONMAN scene in the Philippines, and at the same time have developed it in their own special Filipino way. We’d also like to extend our appreciation to the community for embracing the event, supporting the athletes and participating in the action and excitement. This event adds to the repertoire of events that the region is known for and showcases the Philippines as the hub of triathlon inspiring a healthy and active lifestyle. For the competitors, it is time for your dedication and preparation to pay off. We understand the effort that you’ve made to prepare for this event and our IRONMAN team stands ready to help you achieve your goals and cross the finish line. We hope you share your experience and passion for triathlon with others, helping to further the sport along the way. We wish all participants the best of luck and hope that you can enjoy the local attractions and area during your stay. Take care and enjoy the journey.

MESSAGES Fellow triathletes, sponsors and partners, we thank you once again for your participation and support to our newest race, the Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay. The inaugural Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 features a one loop swim, a one loop bike and a one loop run with two transition areas. The course is hard enough to keep you challenged yet fast enough to give you that extra push to go after your best time. This race has gathered close to 900 participants from 36 different nations. It also boasts of the most number of professional triathletes led by 3x World Kona World Champion and 2x IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Craig Alexander, recent Kona podium finisher Luke McKenzie and perennial top 5 women’s finisher in Caroline Steffen making it a truly world class event. We are very proud to be part of the triathlon growth in the Philippines. From a single event in 2009, we have seen the sport grow seven years after. We have seen hundreds Filipinos compete abroad and participate in races in Australia, Hawaii, Malaysia and several other countries. In the same manner, we also see more and more foreign triathletes visit the Philippines to race and come back with their families to experience the beauty of our country. In partnership with the Department of Tourism and the Tourism Promotions Board, we showcased the best of our people, our culture and our cuisine from CamSur to Cebu to Subic Bay to Bohol and most recently Albay. With Cebu being referred to us the Crown Jewel of Asia in triathlon, know that the Philippines will always play a big part in the development of the sport this part of the world. The Subic Bay race is another chance to showcase our country and our people. Enjoy the race on Sunday and see you at the finish line!
Someone once said that “Anyone who wants to know the limits of what the body can do should try doing an IRONMAN 70.3 Triathlon.” It requires endurance, stamina, strength, race smarts, mental toughness all at the same time. It calls for a lot of discipline and months of serious training to complete the 112 kilometers of swimming, biking and running. At first, it will seem difficult even just to get started, what more maintain the routine. But over time, and as you make it part of your lifestyle, the workouts, the diet discipline and the overall mindset of keeping fit and healthy almost becomes second nature. In fact, we’ve seen it many times over how beginners in the sport start out overweight, clumsy and unsure but eventually conquering the sport. This is what the Century Tuna brand espouses. It’s about being physically and mentally fit, maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise and having the right diet. And, enjoying the added benefit of eventually becoming a sexy, Century Tuna Superbod. This inspires us at Century Tuna to implement creative, highlyanticipated programs such as the bi-annual Century Tuna Superbod Contest and the Century Tuna 5150 Triathlon. We create opportunities to inspire consumers to be better versions of themselves, be amazed over what they can do, and to step out of their comfort zone. Last year was our third year on 5150 and now we feel that the time is right to advance to the logical next challenge. Pacing with the expectations of the local and international community this year, we move forward with the Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3. And we are overwhelmed by the strong welcome the international triathlon community has given us. Over 30 professional triathletes from various countries are flying in to compete. And around 36 countries will be represented in our inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 race. Proof that the Philippines is fast becoming a destination country for triathlon and that Subic Bay continues to be a preferred venue for world class events such as an IRONMAN 70.3. The strong response of the international community aligns well with the trust of the Century Tuna brand of eventually becoming a major international brand. We are presently exported to 48 countries and sold in top retailers such as Walmart and Safeway in the USA, Carrefour, Giant and Spinneys in the Middle East and Europe, Woolworths in Australia and Loblaws in Canada. We are also a major player in China as well as the Middle East. We’d like to welcome everyone to the inaugural Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Pilipinas! Race safe and Tri Hard, everyone.

DOMINGO RAMON ENERIO III Chief Operating Officer Tourism Promotions Board
Once again, Subic Bay takes center-stage in the growing Philippines triathlon scene, as the widely acclaimed Century Tuna 70.3 is held here for the very first time. For several years now, Subic Bay with its varied and challenging terrain and exciting mix of sun, sand, and sea, has been the preferred destination of prestigious sports and event organizers, as well as athletes and spectators from all walks of life. It has, in fact, gained a shining reputation as an ideal staging ground for big local and international sports events. This triathlon event, in particular, which has successfully attracted celebrities, health buffs, and professional and amateur participants, promises to be yet another memorable experience for everyone. As our triathletes gear up for another grueling yet exhilarating race to the finish, therefore, I wish each and everyone of them a truly fun-tastic time in Subic Bay. I also express my sincerest appreciation to the organizers and the sponsors of Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 for bringing this much-awaited event here. May it not only promote sports discipline and a healthy lifestyle but also sports tourism in the country! Mabuhay and good luck to all!
Welcome and Mabuhay! On behalf of the Tourism Promotions Board, allow me to welcome all the participating athletes to one of the biggest triathlons in the country, the Century Tuna 70.3 IRONMAN. I also congratulate the organizers for staging another world-class sporting event in Subic. The race is a great opportunity to show athletes and spectators that “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.” Not only does it highlight Subic as a hot triathlon spot for professional and budding athletes, the Century Tuna 70.3 IRONMAN also brings people to take a tour around its picturesque landscape and aquatic resources. Century Tuna and the Philippines, specifically the scenic Subic Bay, is a perfect match to spur economic growth through sports tourism. The team-up offers limitless possibilities for both athletes and sports spectators as TPB pushes the country’s international profile for Visit the Philippines Year (VPY) 2015, an invitation for all to experience the enduring promise of “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.” Godspeed, everyone!

ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR THE INAUGURAL CENTURY TUNA IRONMAN 70.3 PHILIPPINES High expectations from the growing triathlon community amid participation of largest pro triathlete contingent in a Philippine race
A
One of the main attractions of this race is the opportunity to ride along the world-class roads of SCTEX.
s testament to the tremendous growth of triathlon as a sport to be reckoned with in the Philippines, Filipino food company Century Tuna, steps up its reputation as a champion of the healthy, active lifestyle by staging the IRONMAN 70.3 on March 8, 2015. This move comes just three years after it lent its name as title sponsor to the premier 5150 Triathlon series in the Philippines. “Century Tuna has supported the triathlon and fitness community in the Philippines for years now as a way of remaining committed to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for Filipinos,” says Greg Banzon, general manager of Century Pacific Food Inc. “We felt it was time to offer Filipinos a bigger challenge that keeps pace with the expectations of the community. The interest so far, which includes that coming from the international triathlete circles, tells us that the inaugural Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon event is met with high anticipation www.ironmansubicbay703.com

and excitement, and will soon be part of the triathlete's calendar,” adds Banzon, who is well-known in the community as an avid age-group triathlete with the Century Tuna Tri Team. The IRONMAN 70.3, also known as a half-IRONMAN, is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). It consists of a 1.9km swim, a 90-k bike ride, and a 21-k run. In the Philippines, the half-IRONMAN race distance was first staged with the blessings of the World Triathlon Corp. in August 2009. Since then, the race format has gained popularity, with registration slots being sold-out in less than an hour on registration day opening. A big number of hopefuls are still on the wait-list. The 70.3 is one of the most, if not the most, anticipated triathlon races in the Philippines and is on the bucket list of nearly every triathlete. It followed that holding a second edition was not far behind. From an intimate number of just 40 triathletes participating in a multisport event in 1986, the number has now mushroomed to thousands today. “More than anything else, we’ve elevated the quality of the race that we offer here in the Philippines. We have staged a world-class event mostly in part, from having great sponsors like Century Tuna, who work hand-in-hand with us in Sunrise Events,” says Wilfred Uytengsu, Sunrise Events, Inc. president and CEO, and CEO of Alaska Milk Corp. during the Century Tuna 70.3 grand launch and press conference on February 18. “Having great venues, making sure we have a safe course for our athletes, and then lay it over with our Filipino hospitality—this is what has given way to the growth of triathlon here in the Philippines,” says Uytengsu, a veteran triathlete and team captain of the Philippines’ longest-established triathlon team, the Polo Tri Team. On March 8, at the Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 in Subic Bay, some 30 professionals of various nationalities will participate in this grueling race led by three-time IRONMAN World Champion and two-time IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Craig Alexander as well as triathlon superstars such as Luke McKenzie and Caroline Steffen. This gives the Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 in Subic Bay the prestige of having the most number of professionals at gun start in a Philippine triathlon. Craig Alexander, also known as “Crowie” will be racing for the first time in the Philippines. In a video message that he made for this event, he says: “I’m very excited to be coming up to race in the Philippines in Subic Bay in early March. It’s a race that when it was announced last October, I contacted Fred [Uytengsu] straightaway and said I would love to join. “My wife and I met Fred a few years ago. I know he is a huge supporter of triathlon in the Philippines and he’s doing great things for the sport up there. So we’re really looking forward to coming up, having a great event, and meeting all the local triathletes,” Crowie adds. Subic Bay has been chosen as the perfect destination for the event due to its accessibility but more importantly because it offers the ideal terrain with its calm waters and well-maintained bike and run routes. The 1.9-kilometer swim will start and end in the Sands of Triboa (formerly Dungaree Beach) in Subic Bay. The clockwise swim forms a rectangular course which is divided into 1000 meters, 100 meters and 800 meters, heading to the swim exit. The 90-kilometer bike course will take the participants from Transition 1 at the long runway of the Subic International Airport to the Tipo Gate and enter the roads of SCTEX (Subic-Tarlac Express Way) for a hard, windy out and back ride. The bike ride will end at the Subic Bay www.ironmansubicbay703.com
Exhibition and Convention Center (SBECC) where Transition 2 is located. For the final leg, athletes will run from SBECC to Sands of Triboa (formerly Dungaree Beach) and back, on a relatively flat, fast, but hot run course. Finishing participants will be welcomed back at the finish line at the Subic Bay Convention Center. The Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 in Subic Bay, Philippines also serves as a qualifying race for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria. Thirty agegroup qualifying slots are at stake, along with a $15,000 prize purse for the event. The event is slated to span over four days from March 5 to 8, 2015 at Subic Bay, Philippines. The Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 is produced and organized by Sunrise Events, Inc. and made possible through the support of a number of sponsors and partners including: Vita Coco, Gatorade, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Bases Conversion and Development Authority, Manila North Tollways Corporation, North Luzon Expressway, 2Go Express, Century Bangus, Saucony, Sante Barley, Department of Tourism, Tourism and Promotions Board of the Philippines, Prudential Guarantee, Timex, David's Salon, Premier Water, Mini Cooper, Autohub, Belo Skin Care, The Philippines Star, Endurance Magazine, Smart Communications, PLDT Subictel, Intercare, FinisherPix, Shotz, Devant, OLX and Video Sonic.
“Century Tuna has supported the triathlon and fitness community in the Philippines for years now as a way of remaining committed to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for Filipinos,” says Greg Banzon.
