Our Story Newmarket Holidays began its tour operating life on a Bank Holiday Weekend in April 1983, when a group of travellers journeyed by coach and cross-Channel ferry to Paris. Holidays by air were added in the late 1980s, alongside cruise and river-cruise holidays, as farther-flung corners of Europe were explored.
As Newmarket’s reputation grew, so did the number of destinations offered, and the 21st century has seen North and South America, India, Africa and Southeast Asia all play host to tens of thousands of Newmarket customers. Our festive experiences, particularly our Lapland day trips, also saw us take 2,000 customers to the heart of Swedish Lapland in search of the real Santa Claus for 10 years.

The global pandemic brought operations to a shuddering halt in early 2020, and the last two years, as has been the case for millions across the world, have been the most difficult in our long history. Happily, however, we have continued to operate tours at home and abroad, where possible, in both 2020 and 2021, and as we look forward with our customers to reconnecting with the world in 2022 and 2023, we do so with renewed optimism and excitement.

Newmarket Holidays was founded in 1983 when we operated our first escorted tour. We’re still independently owned almost 40 years later, and now create and operate escorted tours all over the world.
Personal thank yous from our customers mean more than industry accolades, but we’re pleased to have been recognised as ‘Best Escorted Tour Operator’ at the British Travel Awards for eight successive years.
