• Allow the wheel to come to rest naturally after

• Observe the safety recommendations of the machine and wheel manufacturer • Keep the working area well lit, clean, tidy and free from obstructions • Avoid slippery and uneven floors • Ensure other workers in the vicinity and passersby are protected from sparks and debris • Exercise care when handling abrasive wheels – they can easily be damaged • Store wheels in dry and frost-free conditions avoiding wide variations in temperature • Visually check the wheel for damage or defects and conduct a ring test before mounting • Check that the wheel is the correct specification for the application and that the markings are intact and legible

keep the cutting surface in good condition turning off the machine • Ensure the workpiece is properly supported or clamped so that it cannot move during grinding or cutting • Spin out residual coolant from the wheel before turning off the machine • Report wheel breakages to the respective manufaturers, keeping hold of all of the debris for examination • Ensure machine spindle speed is checked periodically using a tachometer • Ensure that damaged or defective wheels and worn-out wheels are destroyed to prevent them from being used • Ensure that the wheel is removed before transporting or storing portable machines.

• Use the correct tools when mounting or removing a wheel • Ensure mounting flanges are in matched pairs, clean, free from burrs and undistorted • Use blotters to prevent wheel slippage where required • Make sure that work-rests and workpiece clamping devices are secure and correctly positioned • Ensure guards are in position and correctly adjusted so that they do not foul the wheel • Rotate the wheel manually to ensure that it runs true and freely before turning on the power • Wear suitable protective clothing • Run the wheel for at least 30 seconds at

PRODUCT FEATURE RETAIL TRAINING HOW TO SELECT THE CORRECT PRESSURE PUMP The first step to selecting the correct pressure pump is to know what it is going to be used for: • Over what distance will the water be moved? • What is the size of the pipe through which the water will be pumped? • Is the water source above or below the pump? • Know the extent to which the pressure pump needs to work – Is the house a multiple-story unit, with one or two bathrooms? • How much water do you need to move or how many outlets must the pump be able to supply at one time? • How much pressure is needed? These are important questions and factors that will influence the type and quality pump that need to be purchased. The further the water needs to travel, the more robust the pump needs to be. Water weighs a lot and the longer the distance and the steeper the height the water needs to travel, the more pressure is put on the pump. Secondly, you need to consider the following when purchasing a pressure pump: FLOW RATE: How much water can the pressure pump produce? PRESSURE BOOST: How much pressure can the pump add to the existing water pressure? POWER: How much power does the pump require to operate?

// ONE OF THE BIGGEST REASONS TO INSTALL A PRESSURE PUMP IS TO ASSIST WITH THE CORRECTION OF LOW WATER PRESSURE //

TOP TIPS • Using flex connectors for your pumps’ inlet and outlet connections, as vibrations can carry into your plumbing system, causing a lot of noise and damage in the long run • Always have a bypass in place, in case something happens or the pump is not working as it should, so you can still get water into the house • Find a way to test the pump in isolation without having to run water through the house. This is to help identify if problems are coming from plumbing, like leaks, or the pump.

Pascali Pumps have been developed with homeowners in mind. The range has been developed to address most low water pressure problems experienced by homeowners. All Pascali pumps are covered by warranties and come with LOA’s AUGUST 2019 DIY & INDUSTRIAL TRADE NEWS

// WHEN MIXED WITH MORTAR, SCREED, CONCRETE OR PLASTER, THE CRYSTALLINE PROPERTIES OF COPROX WATERPROOF CEMENT ADDITIVE RENDERS THE STRUCTURE AND SURFACES IMPERVIOUS TO THE INGRESS OF MOISTURE //

Falling damp: Falling damp is caused by downward water penetration from the top of porous masonry walls. This could happen if the top of a boundary wall (coping) is not adequately waterproofed, or because of failed flashings, blocked or leaking gutters, joints that have lost their mortar, and the build-up of dirt and moss on upper surfaces of stone or brickwork.

Penetrating damp: Penetrating damp occurs as a result of the horizontal ingress of water through gaps (sometimes tiny) in a building’s substrate. Penetrating or horizontal damp can be due to leaking water pipes and unprotected plaster or brick.

EASY APPLICATION To prevent damp in buildings, add 2.5kg of Coprox Waterproof Cement Additive to every 50kg bag of cement in any mortar, screed, concrete or plaster mix. Follow the instructions found on the packaging.

THE STUDENTS STUDYING Communication and Design were presented with a brief. They were tasked to promote NHSM and showcase how end users can implement security solutions to protect their families and homes. The Yale Smart hub alarm and Yale Smart Living products were also included as they form an ecosystem where users are able to fully control their own home security, which was previously not really possible. With fibre to the home and good mobile infrastructure, selfmonitoring systems and smart-solutions are now even more affordable and attractive than ever before. The aluminium padlocks are identical in design to the brass range of padlocks and despite their lightweight aluminium body are just as strong as the equivalent brass padlocks. These aluminium padlocks feature the same hardened steel shackle as the brass counterparts, offer very good weather resistance and have zero scrap value on the black market.
