First edition of HPCI South Africa a great success

HPCI South Africa expo took place in Johannesburg, in conjunction with the annual Coschem scientific conference. On 4 and 5 September, visitors headed Gallagher Convention Centre to attend the exhibition devoted exclusively to showcasing ingredients for home and personal care products.

HPCI South Africa featured 25 exhibitors representing 87 international companies. It was attended by more than 500 buyers from the personal care and home care markets, who were equally satisfied with this premiere event.

HPCI SOUTH AFRICA EXPO HAS SET A TARGET TO BECOME A LEADING EVENT ON THE AFRICAN CONTINENT FOR THE PERSONAL CARE AND HOME CARE MARKETS

The expo is based on the concept of knowledge exchange, business interaction and networking, providing a platform for suppliers and buyers to come together and discuss new products and respective needs.

Organised by SOFW Journal and Vincentz Network, the HPCI South Africa expo has set a target to become a leading event on the African continent for the personal care and home care markets.

Exhibitors included AMA Laboratories, Ayanda African Oils, Brenntag South Africa, Carst & Walker SA, CJP Chemicals, Croda SA, Cosmetic Ingredients co-located with Quantum Colours, Dia-Stron, DST Cosmeceutical Platform, Evonik Industries, Fourchem, Kaza Natural Oils, Millchem, Mireuxus, Orkila South Africa, Protea Chemicals, Savannah Fine Chemicals, Solvay Polymers & Chemicals, Symrise, The Care Co., Unicare Ingredients and Vantage Speciality Chemicals.

SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE In addition to the show, the Coschem annual scientific conference offered an extensive programme of lectures focusing on the dissemination of scientific information. Local and international presenters were invited to present papers outlining research and development in the cosmetics industry and new materials that can be brought to market.

Based on the theme of ‘innovating the possibility, the conference continues to be central to the ongoing development of the African cosmetics industry and a key platform for knowledge sharing.

SAFETY ASSESSMENT SEMINAR The DGK IKW Safety Assessor Seminar, organised with the support of Cosmetic, Toiletries & Fragrance Association of South Africa (CTFA), took place on the second day of the expo and conference. This seminar focused on relevant issues pertaining to the safety of cosmetics.

The German Cosmetic, Toiletry, Perfumery and Detergent Association (IKW) and the German Society for Scientific and Applied Cosmetics (DGK) shared their unique training concept during the seminar, giving prospective safety assessors and interested individuals an opportunity to learn about innovations and gain hands on experience.
