SILETZ — Homeowners Sandy and Dave Emerson reserved judgment until they saw their energy bill. “It is consistently 40 percent lower than before,” said Sandy as she talked about the advantages of ductless heating and air conditioning. “We have a lot of mois-
ture where we live, and it removes that with a ‘dry program,’ too.” Ductless heating and air conditioning is a highly efficient system that provides an even environment at a fraction of the cost of baseboards or wall heaters and is less expensive to install than conventional furnaces and heat pumps, according to Airrow co-owner Garrett Bush. “It’s a great product that simply can’t be beat,” claimed
Bush, who spent much of the last year in training schools to master the inverter-driven technology at the core of the Daiken product line. “It eliminates the high cost and maintenance of duct work, and the efficiencies are tremendous.” The Emersons agreed to install the ductless system over a conventional set-up based on Bush’s familiarity with his products. It didn’t hurt when he ran energy cal-
culations on the house, determining the heating loads with a $1,000 piece of handheld software. “We were so impressed after just five minutes that he knew his product so well,” recalled Sandy. “He figured the cost of the tax rebate, had the price of the system and promised a one-day installation — and the job was delivered, as promised.” Thrilled with the expert installation and follow-up,
the couple waited to see how the Daiken ductless system would handle the wild weather swings along the upper Siletz River, where temperatures range from eight-degree winters to blistering summers. “It’s constant, even temperature,” she said. “Just set it and forget it.” Emerson called the quiet and unobtrusive Daiken system “amazing and so easy

NEWPORT — A regional energy cooperative has named Airrow Heating & Sheet Metal as the leading installer of high-tech heating systems in a four-state area. The Installer of the Year
Award was bestowed by the Northwest Energy Alliance, sponsor of the Northwest Ductless Heat Project. “The project’s been going on for close to a decade now,” explained Garrett Bush, co-owner and operations manager at Airrow. “Recently, they started recognizing the highest ductless
performer in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. We’re proud to get it. Our customers love their ductless systems. They appreciate the lower bills and increased comfort.” Bush runs Airrow with his father, Ron Bush, who directs mechanical engineering for the company. Airrow, start-
ed seven years ago, has showrooms in South Beach and Lincoln City. Typically installed in a single day, ductless systems serve primary heating and cooling needs in homes and businesses. Known for producing even heat, the systems can lower electric heating costs by 25 to 50 percent,
according to figures compiled by the energy alliance, a consortium of public and private energy providers. A spokesman for Central Lincoln PUD, a member of the alliance, credited Airrow for working with its customers. “With many outstanding installers in our
territory, it is our pleasure to congratulate Airrow Heating on this well-deserved award,” said Wade Carey, energy services administrator for the Newport-based PUD. “It’s clear they have raised awareness of how ductless systems can increase comfort and lower energy bills.”

LINCOLN CITY— Homeowner, Diane Simon, leapt at the opportunity to have the Ductless-Times visit her for a photo shoot this summer. She was so excited about the quality and service that Airrow Heating provided that she allowed the Ductless-Times right in her own dining room to show off her new ductless heat-pump. Initially, Diane credited her husband, Dan, for the decision to initially look into the possibility of a ductless heat pump. The Program sought 3-star Energy Trust trade allies to participate in the FDHP initiative through a rigorous and competitive request for proposal (RFP) process. By being 1 of only 7 contractors selected for this program, Airrow Heating can now offer manufactured homeowner residents of Lincoln City, Neskowin, and Otis an aditional $900 max incentive on a single-head, single-compressor ductless heat pump through March 31, 2015. The goal of this collective effort is to improve comfort and energy savings for homeowners, increase business and workforce opportunities for participating trade allies and grow the number of ductless heat pump installations in manufactured home housing stock.
