I stretch my legs out under the table and look outside. The sky has clouded over and the dim light that shines over the city isn’t enough to chase the shadows away. Maybe it’s better: the sun isn’t appropriate for this kind of visit. “Would you like to order, Miss?” The waitress has already come twice. She’s young, with narrow shoulders and spindly pianist-like fingers. She wasn’t here five years ago. “Not yet.” I look at my wristwatch.
