SECTION 4- NON-RESIDENT ALIEN STUDENTS This section describes the enrollment of nonresident aliens by region and country of origin. Regions, and countries included within each region, follow the classification used by IIE (Institute of International Eduacation).


University Summary

DEFINITION A NON-RESIDENT ALIEN is someone in the U.S. who is neither a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. For the purposes of the Almanac, we use this term instead of “international student” because it cleary defines the group of students included based upon the reported student data in our information system as of census date.

Note: ‘With unreported country’ refers to missing entries as of census freeze date of each year. The New School is required to collect such information for only a sub population of non-resident aliens based upon visa sponsorship.
