water filtration
The Mae Kuang River Remediation Park filtrates river water from North to South with Food & Recreation connecting people from West and East. Existing conditions of the site
landscape shaped to hold extra water during a monsoon season pond filtration: slower flow/fish and bacteria/waterplants

canal filtration: extended distance though rerouting/soil and phytofiltration
b
bioswale filtration: removes debris and pollution out of surface runoff water
bulrush
water irises
Canals that run along the Ring Road are replaced with bioswales that remove debris and pollution from runoff water.
water lilies
Colacasia esculenta
Phyto filtration plants such as Colacasia Esculenta and Canna Indica can reduce phosphates, nitrates, total suspended solids, BOD and other contaminants up to 70 per cent. Water Irises and Lilies absorb heavy metals from pond water. Bulrush remove an array of contaminants including oils.

Food/recreation connection

East to West the park provides a social path creating an educational and food connection between the two districts that are divided by the river. There are parking spaces so people can explore the park by walking or biking and taking a break at small salas. A new recreational lake is formed at the intersection of the river and path. The park can also be enjoyed from the air by taking a hot air balloon. An eco-farm is using purified river water to grow fruit and vegetables that are sold or cooked and served at the site. This also provides an education platform for studying nature, sustainability, farming, and cooking. e
