Cogglesford Watermill Cogglesford Watermill, dating back to Saxon times, is thought to be the only Sherriff’s watermill still in operation in England. The Mill lies in a picturesque setting on the River Slea in the historic market town of Sleaford, Lincolnshire, close to the town centre and all its amenities.

the fascinating history of the watermill Although the present Mill was mainly built in the early 18th century, millers have produced flour on this site for over 1000 years. This grade II award winning building has a low breast shot water wheel and two sets of millstones. The mill is a rare survivor from a river that once boasted some 18 watermills at the time of the Domesday Book and belongs to a group of mills considered most valuable in Lincolnshire!

the milling process for yourself Special Milling Days takes place March to December on the second Sunday of the month, producing its own flour as it would have done 200 years ago. Watch as the huge water wheel rumbles into action turning the millstones to grind the grain and produce stone ground flour.

Refreshments Cogglesford Watermill is a member of Select Lincolnshire and the stone ground flour is sold in the mill shop. Light refreshments and a gift shop are also available together with local visitor information. The mill also holds special events throughout the year.
