present assignment. Captain Lorenzen’s presentation was titled, “Air Station Clearwater: Past Present, and Future.” The presentation featured some very interesting photos of the history of the U.S. Coast Guard and included many photos of aircraft used by the Coast Guard over the years. They ranged from the first aircraft, the Curtis Flying Boat in 1915 to the present MH-60 Sikorsky Jayhawk and Aerospatiale MH-65 Dolphin helicopters and the Lockheed HC-130J Super Hercules Transport. In a very interesting Q &A session, Captain Lorenzen also discussed some dramatic sea rescues and the continuing Drug Interdiction Program.

Trip Around the Sun

By E. Adam Porter Editor in Chief, News of Kings Point In a couple of weeks I will celebrate my birthday. This year, when circling that particular box on the calendar,I found myself humming the chorus of a familiar song. The tune was “Trip Around the Sun” by a fellow industrious beach bum by the name of Jimmy Buffett. Given my low tolerance for “Fins” and “Margaritaville,” I’m not sure I could call myself a Parrothead, but Jimmy has certainly cut some tracks I can appreciate. This is one of them. The chorus goes something like this: “I’m just hanging on while this old world keeps spinning And it’s good to know it’s out of my control If there’s one thing that I’ve learned from all this living Is that it wouldn’t change a thing if I let go…” I don’t know what Jimmy means by all that, but, to me, it’s about knowing the difference between productive concern and plain ol’ worry. There are some things within my control, and others I cannot change no matter how hard I try. A certain rabbi from Nazareth put it this way: “Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Translation? Take it one day at a time… because that’s apt to be plenty. Easier said that done, right? You hear about tragedy and travesty on the news and you want to “do something” about it. Even if it’s just to rage against the machine. Or maybe some hardship or horror or stroke of bad luck jumps out of the closet and changes your day

– and your life – forever. Most of the time it does little good to dwell, but birthdays are made for reflecting, looking back on a year’s worth of moments, that singular collection of days you will never get to have again, and the blessings and the scars that came with them. Jimmy put it this way: “No, you never see it coming Always wind up wondering where it went Only time will tell if it was time well spent It’s another revelation Celebrating what I should have done With these souvenirs of my trip around the sun” Only time will tell if it was time well spent… if that’s the case why do we worry so much about where we missed it, about what could have been done better or just, different, somehow. When all those thoughts stack up, you get regret. And, like cancer eats your body, regret eats your soul. The truth is that we rarely do see “it” coming, and when we stumble across revelation, it often teaches us lessons we never even thought to ask about in the first place. That’s when you realize just how out of control this ol’ world really is, and how freeing it can be to just stop trying to keep it all perfectly together, to make it all work. To realize your trip around the sun really is all about hanging on while everything keeps spinning. Hanging on to who and what you love as tightly as you can … doing your best to enjoy the ride… Until it’s done.

Squatters Trash Soldier’s Home, But You Can Help!

The following story was taken from local news sources and the website “GoFundMe.com.” Spc. Michael Sharkey and his wife Danielle are a typical Army family. They got orders to go to Hawaii, then closed up their New Port Richey, FL home and obeyed those orders. Then Michael got deployed to Afghanistan for a year. ? Earlier this year, while Michael was still in Afghanistan, Danielle found out that squatters had broken in to their home and were illegally living there. She flew to Florida, called the Sheriff’s office, only to be told that it was a “civil” matter to get the criminals out. A friend of the Sharkey’s contacted WFLA Channel 8 “Eight on Your Side.” WFLA started investigating and running a story about the Sharkey’s dilemma. VeteranWarriors contacted WFLA and got the ball rolling to get the squatters out. Within 24 hours, with the assistance of Sand Soldiers of America, we helped the Sharkeys get an attorney, who immediately served the squatters with a 24hour notice to quit. Ironically, the publicity generated by WFLA’s story provoked citizens to “encourage” the squatters to leave immediately. The squatters are out legally and the property is now under the care and supervision of VeteranWarriors

until the Sharkeys return June 1st. The squatters left the Sharkey’s home in a disgusting state. Beyond the filth, dog feces, trashed furniture and garbage, there are some significant repairs to be made: 1. Roof has a 4” hole and multiple sections of what appear to be deliberate damage. 2. There are 3 cabinets in the kitchen that the squatters put in. They are on the floor and destroyed. 3. The tile in the kitchen is destroyed. 4. The bedrooms have laminate floors. The squatters’ dogs LIVED in these rooms and used the floors as their bathroom. 5. The sliding door and living room windowwere destroyed. 6. There is a disgusting large pool in the back yard that needs to be removed. 7. The garage was turned into an illegal “bedroom.” It needs to go back to being a garage. 8. The squatters bypassed the electric meter...a licensed electrician needs to hook it all up. 9. Painting all the rooms and the exterior. 10. Clean up the yard and put down some sod...most of the yard is now dirt from the squatters’ dogs. 11. All the screen from the patio is gone. Needs to be rescreened.

Military News Admiral Chambers Addresses MOWW

RADM Larry C. Chambers was the featured speaker at the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) meeting / luncheon on Thursday, March 20, at the Sun City Center Freedom Plaza Club. In March 1975, Admiral Chambers, then a Navy Captain, became commanding officer of the USS Midway (CV-41). One month later, the Midway was ordered out of Subic Bay Naval Station in the Philippines to take position off the coast of the southern tip of South Vietnam. The Midway took over 3,000 Vietnamese onboard before sailing to Thailand and Guam to offload them and the Air Force helicopters. He described the overall harrowing South Vietnam evacuation process as it affected the Midway as well as a highly dangerous rescue of a private plane that carried a Vietnamese pilot, his wife and five children that was forced to either attempt a landing on the carrier or perish. Adm. Chambers was forced to make an incredibly difficult L to R: Charles Conover, Lt Col USA (Ret), decision, i.e., to clear Larry Chambers, RADM, USN (Ret). the flight deck of the carrier by pushing several helicopters over the side to make room for the Vietnamese pilot or refuse to allow him to attempt a landing, which would have meant almost certain death for the pilot and his family. Acting against recommendations of his superiors, he opted to push the helicopters overboard and allow the landing, which was successful. Adm. Chambers was later promoted to Rear Admiral in 1976. He assumed command of Carrier Group Three in 1979-80,ADM Chambers retired from the Navy in 1985, and worked for UNISYS as a program manager, marketing combat systems. Paid Advertisement

Emergency Squad Membership Elects New Board

At the annual All-Squad meeting held on March 12, the membership elected nine people to head up the new Board of Directors of the Sun City Center Emergency Squad.Pictured from left to right: Linda East, Marty Mallak, Eileen Peco, Dick Morrison, Terri Lance, Dick Seagrave, Emily Lahti, Doug Gatchell, MaryAnn Meeker.

SCC Emergency Squad Featured Volunteer

John Cortese recently received his 25-year plaque for 25 years of dedicated service to the Emergency Squad.John and his wife Donna moved to SCC in January of 1989 and one of his first goals was to join the Squad. Before retiring, John spent his working career in Memphis, Tenn. While there he was a Dep. Sheriff Reserve as well as a Police Reserve officer. He also served on the Germantown Fire Department for 17 years. On April 1st, 1945, John and his unit of Navy Seebees went to Okinawa Japan along with the Marines to build two airfields for the Marine fighter planes.John has held many positions on the Squad. He was Chief in 1992 and also Captain of Team 3. He was Chairman of the Board and served on the EMPC for 10 years. John has also been a driver and EMR and now works on Team 3 at the Captain’s desk. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and committed individual on the Squad. Shown in the picture from left to right John Cortese, Noreen Schramm, past Chief and Joe Cox, Captain of Team 3.

Shell Crafters Support The Squad

President of the Shell Crafters, Sheila Rooney, presented Chief Floto with a generous donation of $2,000. The Squad is grateful for this donation since they are totally supported by the generosity of the community. Without this financial support, said Chief Floto, we could not continue in our mission of “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.” As a matter of fact, in 2013, the Squad responded to over 6,000 emergency calls right here in SCC.

L to R: Joan Ambrose and Chief Dennis Floto.

True Dedication The Squad Acknowledges Joan Ambrose

In 1988, Joan Ambrose and her husband Bill Ambrose moved to Sun City Center from Orange, Connecticut. While talking with a neighbor, her husband learned about the Emergency Squad and the next morning they both signed up. Fast forward 25+ years later and Joan Ambrose is still serving the community through the Emergency Squad. Her entire twenty-five plus years have been spent on Team 3, serving under 13 different captains. Joan has served as an Emergency Medical Responder, Team Coordinator and has worked on various committees over the years, including the committee helping to form the Squad Alumni Association. In addition, Joan has served on the Nominating Committee and contributed to the Squad Cookbook. When her husband passed away in 1994, Joan said, “the Squad became family to me.” She says she has loved every minute of her time with the Emergency Squad. Thank you, Joan for your dedication.

Chief Appoints Two New Captains Submitted by Jan Huber, Asst. Chief PR

Chief Dennis Floto had the pleasure of pinning brand new Captains bars on the newest Captains on the Squad. Congratulations to Captain Sam Brandes, Team 2 and to Captain Paul O’Connor, Team 8. Both men were ready and willing to step up to their newest responsibilities. The Squad is comprised of 8 teams, each with approximately 40 volunteers. They rotate duty schedules every eight days. If you think you might want to be a part of this prestigious organization, please stop by for an application or visit our web site at www.scc-ems.us.

Lip Sync Performers Of SCC Support Squad Submitted by Jan Huber, Asst. Chief PR

A very generous donation of $1500 was presented to the Emergency Squad by members of the SCC Lip Sync Performers. Chief Floto graciously accepted this gift acknowledging that without the support of the community, we simply could not continue in our mission of “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”

Hundreds of people stopped by the Squad table to chat, pick up valuable information, or just to have their blood pressure checked. Many folks expressed an interest in joining the Squad and we will welcome them all with open arms. There are so many opportunities available from cook to EMT. Please visit our web site at www.scc-ems.us or drop by 720 Ray Watson Drive and take a tour.

Sunshine Cafe Supports Emergency Squad

A fundraiser was held on March 24th to help support the Emergency Squad. For a $10 donation, you could pick up a delicious lunch of chicken and ribs with two sides. The Sunshine Cafe donated all the food and did all of the cooking with all proceeds going to the Squad. Chief Floto indicated that this generosity is so very important because the Squad receives no Federal or State funding. Without the financial support of our community we would not be able to continue in our mission of “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”

New Assistant Chief for PR Meets Executive Director of Chamber

With the Squad’s 50th anniversary this year, the Squad’s new Asst. Chief of Communications Robin Watt met with Dana Ditmar to kick off planning discussions for our year of celebrations. Without the community’s support and generosity, the Emergency Squad would not be the organization it is today. The Squad looks forward to its next 50 years and being a member of Sun City Center.

The News of Freedom Plaza Submitted by MJ Rice, Freedom Plaza The annual presentation of the Freedom Plaza Frolics enjoyed by many residents of the Plaza and Sun City Center was, as usual, sold out. For 22 years, Freedom Plazas’ Resident Programs Assistant Ms. Peggy Burgess, has put pen to paper and created the most entertaining show in town. Writing, directing, producing as well as providing the voiceover for many of the characters on stage.Peggy, with her fabulous voice, sings a variety of songs, all of which are mimed on stage by the “Frolics” performers. This year narrators, Ray Adams, Maria Martucci, pianist Chuck Wirick and singer, Bob Garrod, provided the audio portion of the show. Writing new lyrics to so many familiar tunes, Ms. Burgess creates a comic script for the chosen musical, name changed just a bit, of course. Hence, the 2013 production was “The Best Little Horse Town in Texas,”was a takeoff on “The Best Little Whore House in Texas.” A revival of the popular “Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard” was the choice for this years’ Frolics. Mother Goose fairy tale characters demanding role changes go to Mother Hubbardand her dogvia a secret entrythrough her cupboard to request a “rewrite.”So there is Little Red Riding Hood (Red) turning the tables and chasing

Brookdale Resident Honored at the SUN ‘n FUN® 40th Annual Birthday Celebration

Retired Rear Admiral of USS Midway Recognized for Accomplishments

A distinguished veteran who lives at Freedom Plaza Sun City Center, a Brookdale community, was recognized this weekend at the SUN ‘n FUN® Fly In & Expo in Lakeland, FL for his extensive military career and service to our country. Retired Rear Admiral Larry Chambers humbly accepted the honor with retired South Vietnamese Air Force Major Bung-Lee. During the Evacuation of Saigon, Rear Adm. Chambers was in command of the USS Midway and gave the controversial order to push overboard millions of dollars’ worth of helicopters so Major Bung-Lee could land on the aircraft carrier in a Cessna 0-1 Bird Dog with this wife and

five children, saving their lives. Rear Adm. Chambers was born in Bedford, VA and in 1952 was the second African-American to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy. In addition to the Evacuation of Saigon, Rear Adm. Chambers also played key roles in the Mayaguez Incident Investigation and the Iranian Hostage Rescue. During his 38 years in the U.S. Navy,

he held progressively more demanding leadership and managerial positions retiring as Rear Admiral. He also went onto have two successful civilian careers and traveled all over the world. During the presentation, Commander Michael R. McLeod, retired U.S. Navy, presented Rear Adm. Chambers and Maj. Bung-Lee with a model Cessna 0-1 Bird Dog to recognize and remember their heroic actions. Captain Ted Bronson, retired U.S. Navy, arranged for the meeting and presentation. Then there is a forgetful and ragged Cinderella, who keeps losing one of her slippers. A herd of miscreant black sheep stumbling on stage performa drunken rendition of the “Whiffenpoof Song.” They brought the house down. At

the end of the show, stage and auditorium suddenly erupted. Mary, Mary, no longer quite so contrary did an about face as she charmingly introduced her“flower children.” Costumed as the Hippie Generation of the 60’s, with flowers in their hair, tossing flowers to everyone they could reach.A big ending to a great showthat delighted all who attended.Kudos to the

Mother/Daughter Golf Champions

For the first time in Falcon Watch Golf Club history, a mother and daughter have won the Captain’s Cup and the Club Championship in the Ladies 9 Hole League in the same year. Kathy Boccieri won the Captain’s Cup by 7 strokes after a threeday competition, where she not only won closest to the pin on the first day, but came in first, or tied for first, all three days. Jane Boccieri won the Club Championship by 2 strokes, and had a First Place win on Day 1. Weather shortened this tournament from three to two days. Jane was also the defending champion from the 2013 Club Championship Tournament. Both mother and daughter have been playing golf together for over 50 years; that’s a combined 100 years of golf experience. The Boccieri family has Boccieri Golf to thank for their success. Son (and brother) Stephen Boccieri is the President of Boccieri Golf in Scottsdale, Arizona, and is also the inventor of the Heavy Putter. He is currently marketing the Secret Grip with Jack Nicklaus. Jane and Kathy not only use the putters, but Jane has the grips on all of her clubs. “Mom is 88 years old” Jane said, “and beats me from the new forward tees. Mom says she is quitting golf after this year, but I hope she’s only kidding. She is a great golfer and a great competitor”. In fact, in March of 1998, Kathy got a Hole in One on Sands #5, the only member of the family to accomplish this feat. Congratulations to both!

The first pairs-three tournament was held on March 25, 2014, at Sun City. This tournament was quite a challenge and fast paced. Four ten-end games were played in one day to determine the pairs winner. As a point of reference, a normal game is played in fourteen ends. To play forty ends and roll 120 bowls in a day is truly an achievement for a senior community sport. Still many matches remained close and exciting to watch. The final winners were a husband and wife team, Joe & Barb Mignogna. Their total score for all four games was 37 points. That score indicates that all their matches were very close and competitive. Congratulations to Joe and Barb for their win and physical endurance.

Kings Point Billiards Club Tournament

On Wednesday April 16th the first 8-Ball tournament was held in the Kings Point Billiard Room. It was a joint tournament between Valencia Lakes and Kings Point. A total of twenty-four pool players entered the tournament including eight from Valencia Lakes. The spirited competition lasted for four hours. In the end, the three top players ended up being from Kings Point. Steve Richardson won first honors, Bob Rainsberger second, and Denzel Lester third. This tournament was the first of many tournaments to be held throughout the year. Regular 8-Ball tournaments are scheduled for the Second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm and again on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 9:00 am. Softball News In addition, the Billiard Club is offering free instruction to new and Ed Maslyk and Lee Torres, also novice players who want to learn more about the game. New Lawn Bowling Tournaments Submitted by Linda Hawken

Over the course of this past winter, Tournament Director for Sun City Center Lawn Bowling Club Tony Hawken has introduced several new formats for tournaments. The first was a separate Ladies’ and Men’s Pairs one, played on the same day and it was so successful that Sarasota Lawn Bowling Club is adding the format to their schedule for the 2014/15 season. Next was a “Snowball” Tournament where each member of a Triples team plays a different position for four ends, eventually playing all three positions after twelve ends and the end of a game. Most recently, Tony organized a Three-Bowl Pairs Tournament and it was played on one of the cooler days of early spring, as evidenced by the wintry garb of the players in the photo below. Twenty-eight lawn bowlers participated in this new format, one that is popular in the UK. Instead of the usual four bowls for each player on a pairs team, they bowled three bowls only. This made for a shorter game and because of this four games were played over the course of the day, two before lunch and two after. The overall winners with four wins were Joe and Barb Mignogna, second were David and Christine Burbery, third Linda Hawken and Dave Clarke, fourth Linda McDougall and Tony Hawken and fifth Cindy and Garry Higgins. Club President Paul Ward and his wife Carol provided much-appreciated coffee and sweets during the day.

By Salvina Tannenholz Sun City Center’s softball field hosted a double elimination “One Pitch Softball Champion’s Tournament” on Monday, March 31, 2014 where four equally matched teams took to the field. These teams were made up of SCC players registered to play on Renaissance, Sun City Center (two teams), and Kings Point team. Pitchers battled each other until it finally came down to the two teams with the best winning records of the 5 game series. The powerful Kings Point players defeated the Renaissance team by a score of 10 to 4 in the final round for the Championship Title. Hot dogs with fixin’s and pulled pork sandwiches, provided by St Pete’s St. Pizza Catering, was a never ending five hour feast throughout the entire tournament. A special thanks goes out to Rod Tannenholz for organizing the special event.

Matador

By John Foster

Trumpet fanfare, a crystalline pasodoble, quiets the roar of a fevered plaza. Ritual call to worship. Expectant eyes turn to savor black muscle now released into the chute. Brutish blurr of bull. A gasping senorita crosses herself as aficionados rise at once in homage to the breeding. The corrida has begun with prayer, parade and pomp. An afternoon of poetry and peril. Amid the practiced dance of picadors and banderilleros, a lithe movement of gilded brocade, an arch of spine and brow, a silken agility in his suit of lights. “El torero” emerges to execute a bow…..then sweeping passes, inserting his own breathless choreography. Fearless swirls of magenta, balletic panache, rising ole’s fill the ring as “Maestro” turns the bull, learns the bull…. and with an anchored veronica, spurns the bull. Barbed and beaten down at last with muleta’dartistry, its fury bent and spent, the once proud animal stands bowed, predestined. A sword poised, the crowd flash-frozen in a hush…. the moment violent, vulnerable, merciful, triumphant. Like any fine poetry, worthy of an ear.

You Amaze Me

By Suzanne S. Austin-Hill

Two daughters... You my first, to my world you brought infectious laughter and keen ability to see the best in any mess. You my baby, a “Take charge” kind of girl since birth and a living celebration of uniqueness and individuality. Can’t get a rainbow without a little rain. No matter how much you hammer, the square peg won’t fit comfortably in the round hole. Now you both wear the hats of wife and mother. Your quivers are full with my truly grand “grand”children. Your lives lives are a crazy, delicate balance of home, office and self. You’re here; You’re there; You’re everywhere! Car engines, rarely cold. Energy levels, seldom depleted. Love tanks, never empty. My two daughters... Forever my little girls; Always sisters; And now, A-ma-zing Women!

All Fenced In

This silt fencing on the campus of Saint Anne Catholic Church is the first visible sign of the construction to erect a new 4,000 squarefoot facility that will house the Saint Anne Food Pantry. The ministry is currently operating out of a 3-bay garage seen in the far-right corner of this photo. The new accommodations will be 4 times larger than the current building. This will eliminate many difficulties in the storage, preparation, and distribution of food parcels. It will allow the addition of a walk-in freezer and cooler for meats, fruits, vegetables, and other perishables; it will provide adequate space to store non-perishables and bagged pick-ups; and it will provide an enclosed area for the sign-in tables, which will keep both recipients and volunteers out of the potentially extreme Florida weather. The new facility addresses the fact that the need for this service continues to grow in South Hillsborough County. The Food Pantry serves an average of 400 households each Wednesday and partners with Feeding America to service 400-plus households on one Thursday each month. Saint Anne Catholic Church is located at 106 11th Avenue N. E. in Ruskin. For more information regarding the Parish, visit its website at saintanneruskin.org.

When is a signal not a signal? Answer: When it obviously does not mean what it says. For example, take this case where South gets to four spades on the bidding shown. It is not clear whether West should lead the ace of hearts, the suit his partner bid, or make the more aggressive lead of a diamond, hoping to get a diamond ruff.

Be that as it may, West fortunately elected to lead a diamond. Had he led the ace of hearts instead, declarer would have finished with an overtrick. East won the diamond lead with the jack and continued with the ace and king. It was on the third round of diamonds that West made a most unusual play -- he discarded the ace of hearts! Under the circumstances, there was no way East could construe this play as a signal for him to lead a heart next. Rather, East reasoned that his partner was trying to stop him from shifting to a heart. So East continued with a fourth round of diamonds, and West’s jack of trumps became the setting trick. Observe that if East had shifted to a heart instead of leading another diamond, which he very well might have done without West’s extraordinary discard, declarer would have had no problem scoring the rest of the tricks. But West had recognized that a heart shift by East could easily prove fatal, and he headed off a potential disaster by making the most dramatic discard he could find. © 2014 King Features Synd., Inc.

Strange But True

By Samantha Weaver • It was Benjamin Franklin who made the following sage observation: “It takes many good deeds to build a good reputation, and only one bad one to lose it.” • If you’re like 87 percent of American adults, you use the Internet. The only thing I find surprising about this statistic is that there are 13 percent of adults who don’t use it. • In a recent survey, more Americans said they would have a hard time giving up the Internet than said they’d have a hard time giving up TV. • Those interested in maritime history (and practically everyone else, for that matter) are familiar with the story of the Titanic, which struck an iceberg and sank on the night of April 15, 1912. It’s interesting to note, though, that in 1898 a book called “Futility,” by Morgan Robertson, described an almost identical scenario: The ship in the novel was called Titan, and, like the Titanic, it was trying to break a speed record for crossing the Atlantic. The Titan was declared to be unsinkable, and it didn’t have enough lifeboats for all the passengers. On its fictional voyage in the month of April, it struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean and sank, resulting in the deaths of almost all the passengers. • In Ireland, the police do not carry firearms. Their only weapons are batons and pepper spray. • In 1943, then-chairman of IBM, Thomas Watson, went on the record saying, “I think there is a world market for maybe five computers.” • If you’re afraid of sharks, you might want to consider this tidbit: Every year, more people are killed by bees than by sharks. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** Thought for the Day: “In this world, you must be a bit too kind to be kind enough.” -Pierre Carlet de Chamblain de Marivaux © 2014 King Features Synd., Inc.

Salome’s Stars

ARIES (March 21 to April 19) You’re doing better on the flexibility issue, but you still need to loosen up a bit to show you can be less judgmental and more understanding about certain sensitive matters. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) Your personal aspect continues to dominate this week. But try to make time to deal with important career-linked matters as well. A change of plans might occur by the weekend. GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) Excuses are not really needed for much of the confusion occurring this week. However, explanations from all parties could help in working things out to everyone’s satisfaction. CANCER (June 21 to July 22) That surprising (but pleasant) recent turn of events continues to develop positive aspects. But be prepared for a bit of a jolt on another issue that needs attention. LEO (July 23 to August 22) Creating a fuss might bring you that attention you want. But are you prepared for all the explaining you’d have to do? Better to use more subtle ways to make your bid. VIRGO (Aug. 23 to Sept. 22) With education continuing to be a strong factor this week, this could be the time to start learning some new skills that can later be applied to a bid for a potential career move. LIBRA (Sept. 23 to Oct. 22) You might do well to reconsider some of your current time priorities before you get so deeply involved in one project that you neglect meeting a deadline on another. SCORPIO (Oct. 23 to Nov. 21) With an important decision looming, you need to be careful about the information you’re getting. Half-truths are essentially useless. Get the full story before you act. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 to Dec. 21) Find out what everyone’s role is expected to be before accepting that workplace proposal. Getting all the facts now could prevent serious problems later on. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 to Jan.19) A flexible position on a workplace matter could be the best course to follow during the next several days. A personal issue also benefits from an open-minded approach. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 to Feb. 18) Involving too many people in your workplace problem can backfire. Remember: Allegiances can shift. Ask trusted colleagues for advice, but don’t ask them to take sides. PISCES (Feb. 19 to March 20) Before submitting your suggestions, take more time to sharpen the points you want to make. The clearer the presentation, the more chance it has to get through when submitted. BORN THIS WEEK: Your clear sense of who you are gives you confidence when you need to tackle difficult situations. © 2014 King Features Syndicate, Inc.
