n early 2004, Dan and Heather Brown decided to start a vineyard and winery. They leased some land from Dan’s family who had been farming in Mickleton for over a century, planted some grapes and hoped for the best! Fourteen years, 18 – 25 wines and three little boys later, they are still moving forward with all the energy and creativity they started with! They started the Three Boys Brand in 2009, to separate their traditional estate wines from their line of unique boutique blends. By 2010, Dan and Heather were ready to purchase a farm of their own. Wagonhouse Winery planted vines and opened their tasting room. However, as the saying goes, “a rolling stone gathers no moss,” the Browns started a new venture in 2014, Crop @1401. They put up two high tunnels and planted a variety of fruits and vegetables for their boys to farm and sell. As a result of the pandemic, they turned one of those high tunnels into a year-round entertainment space. While seated in the 4500 square foot heated greenhouse, now named La Serra @1401 (greenhouse in Italian), guests can enjoy the ever growing and changing varietals that they have planted, as well as the wine and food ~ made with the same!
