Cynthia Beechler;

What are your plans this Summer?

My favorite Season

S

UMMER! My favorite time of year. In South Jersey, summer is a special time to enjoy with family and friends and New Jersey has so much to offer during this season. For me, its all about gathering for pool parties, backyard BBQs, ball games and concerts, beach days and nights on the NJ boardwalks, boat rides and so much more. Sometimes it seems like the warm weather puts everyone in a great mood! So many of us take pride in our home ownership by sprucing up our yards with beautiful flowers and fresh landscaping. Like me, many of us plant vegetable gardens and can’t wait to taste the sweet flavor of those famous Jersey Tomatoes. Over the last few years we have seen an incredible influx of families moving into South Jersey. Many of these families are looking to move out of busy cities and enjoy all the perks

of the suburbs. Due to this, we have seen a great increase in buyer demand while home inventory remains very low. What may this mean for you? If you are looking to purchase a home, it is so important to work with an experienced Real Estate Agent who can help you navigate in today’s unique market. If you have been thinking of selling your home, it is equally important to speak with an experienced Real Estate Agent who can help you understand what to expect and what is involved in understanding the terms of selling your home and how to ensure you make the most out of it. One of the biggest concerns I’m hearing from homeowners is, “If I sell, where do I go?”. I’m happy to work with my clients and offer my Sell Now/Move Later program. This program allows homeowners to cash in please see BEECHLER, page 8

nstalling films on the interior windows of your home may not be at the top of your home-makeover “to-do” list, but South Jersey Window Tinting has several good reasons why homeowners should consider this a priority. South Jersey Window Tinting believes in the, “Block the Sun, Not the View” concept. As one of the area's largest contractors of window films, South Jersey Window Tinting has more than three decades of experience and knowledge in the importance of Window Film. Here are some tips why window tinting is essential: Why should people seriously consider investing in window tinting for their home? “Window film is great for heat and glare reduction, while also preventing the fading of furniture, paintings, wallpaper, etc. We also offer safety film to protect from glass breakage and intruders.” How does putting film on the windows reduce energy costs? “By installing window film,

you provide your windows with an extra layer of protection. Window film insulates glass surfaces, which reduces heating costs in the Winter and cooling costs in the Summer.” Talk a little bit about how your product provides protection from the sun? “This is the latest nanotechnology film that is applied to the interior of the existing glass, which protects you and your home from harmful UV Rays”. How much does it cost? “Pricing is job specific. Call or email us to receive a FREE estimate. We run several pricing incentives throughout the year...We have one going on now!” What's involved in this installation? “Jobs vary from one to the next. Our experienced installers will go over everything with you from start to finish”. With most people spending more time at home, dealing with excessive glare and the need for privacy has become a priority. Ask the experts at

South Jersey Window Tinting for suggestions! Thinking about Auto Tinting? Our products block out 99.9% of UV rays to improve skin health and privacy. Our films are approved by the American Cancer Society. We are South Jersey’s #1 Auto Tinting company since 1985! Concerned about break-ins in our communities? Turn burglary into attempted burglary with Clear Safety Film that can be applied to your existing windows! Safety film strengthens your glass and will hold glass together in the event of an impact. Clear Safety Film is applied directly to the interior window pane which will improve safety, security, and give you peace of mind! Call for a FREE estimate. For more information, call toll free 1-800-985-8468 or email southjerseywindowtinting@ gmail.com or visit our website at southjerseywindowtinting. com. Haines Farm & Garden

W

e are a family owned and operated Garden Center that has been in existence for over 115 years and is in its 4th generation. The business started around 1885 as a general store named Morton & Haines. They sold groceries and farmers’ supplies, including farm equipment. It housed the “Parry Post Office” until the free rural delivery system was inaugurated. At that time the post office was moved to its current site – “The Palmyra Post Office”. As farms in the area were sold, they added a Buick Dealership known as Haines Buick. On our ancestral site, which is rich in history, with the tradition of a turnpike, tollhouse, a historic store and post office, the family firm continues. Great-grandchild, Todd

Perkins, and wife Beth, run the business today. Although we no longer sell farm equipment or Buicks, Haines Farm & Garden is now comprised of a Garden Center, Gift Shop and a Pond Department. We still offer old fashioned service, quality products, a friendly staff and our dogs, Bubba Gump, Lester & Mojo. Parts of the building and some of the scales that we use today, were used in the original general store. Our spring offerings include Trees & Shrubs, Perennials, Annuals, Premium Annuals, Herbs and a large selection of Vegetable Plants. We carry Bagged & Bulk Mulches, Soil, Stone & Sand. Other gardening products carried are Retaining Wallstone, Belgium Blocks, Containers, Gazing Balls, Con-

crete Statuary & Birdbaths. We also have a large selection of Fertilizers & Chemical products. In our Organic Department our most popular product is Safe & Simple Corn Gluten. It helps control crabgrass, dandelions, chickweed and most importantly is not harmful to the environment. We carry a full line of Espoma Products, including a 4 Step Lawn Program that is chemical free and safe for kids and pets, Organic Disease & Insect Control and Milky Spore Grub Control. Additional products include Earthworm Castings, Alaska Fish Fertilizer and Diatomaceous Earth. Compost bins and rain barrels are also available. www.hainesfarmandgarden.com ■

Bridge Fun & Smart

M

y parents and their friends regularly played card games at night after we children had supposedly gone to sleep. Little did they know that my sister and I would sneak to the top of the stairs and peek through the banister to watch and listen. The room was full of laughter, yummy snacks, and rousing competition all wrapped in friendship. The game they most frequently played was bridge. It was wonderful to see my parents and their friends play a

game and have so much fun. It made me happy to see their joy. Bridge, as I have come to learn, is a wonderfully complex and ever evolving game that is played all around the world. Because learning and playing bridge is a journey, not a destination, players can enjoy playing at every level, from beginner to expert and beyond! Mosquitoes!

hat do resorts, private villas and businesses in Bali, Indonesia have in common with New Jersey? Mosquitoes! And so, we find new Haddonfield, NJ resident Mark Miklosovich, who spent years in Indonesia and Asia researching and fighting this dangerous creature. The past three years, Miklosovich brought his mosquito control business Eco Mosquito Mission to NY, NJ and PA along with travel work domestically and internationally. Most recently, during a trip back to Indonesia, Miklosovich endured a 25-day quarantine on a dive boat off the coast of Sulawesi. When he arrived to the dive boat, just off shore of an island jungle, the boat was overwhelmed with mosquitos. Within a few days, and his technique, he brought the population down by almost 80% in 10days’ time. Spraying simply doesn’t work, even for the few companies out there that actually use natural products (although most companies hide behind US law that allows a mixture of natural and synthetic insecticide or synthesized natural product like Permethrin, a man-made synthetic insecticide whose chemistry is derived from the

flowers of the chrysanthemum plant.) Take the researched data that a square mile of fertile mosquito land can hold 100,000 female mosquitoes (the biters). So, let’s say that your typical insecticide or natural spraying kills 80% (which is hyper-optimistic), leaving 20,000 to survive. Those surviving females in the next month will produce 20,000,000 new mosquitoes. The key is to disrupt or discontinue the breeding process, and this is the main strategy of Eco Mosquito Mission. Miklosovich’s company uses a true eco-approach which means 100% no chemicals, insecticides or spraying. Instead, he uses a labor-based program to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds in numerous locations of a home and garden along with a proprietary blend of ecomission mulch, an eco-larvicide and eco-mission oil to disrupt the patterns of the mosquito. The key to mosquito control is vigilance and attention to detail, Miklosovich can often be heard saying in his free Zoom seminars about mosquito control. Appointments and dates for these seminars are available via the website: ecomosquitomission.com or email at ecomosquitomission@gmail.com ■

No Bull Mattress & More

formerly known as Wholesale Mattress Warehouse

N

o Bull Mattress & More truly is the little guy the big guys hope you don’t find. That is their motto, and there may not be a more fitting one for any business anywhere. Located in a little warehouse next to Dunkin’ Donuts at 2060 Springdale Road in Cherry Hill, take one step inside the front door and you will instantly realize it is unlike any mattress store you have ever been in. Imagine walking into a discount store and finding every item marked down lower than it has ever been marked down before. That is what it is like in their warehouse every minute of every day. Carole Cutry is the owner and sole operator. With no employees, virtually no paid ad-

vertising and operating out of a warehouse rather than a big expensive showroom, she simply does not have the overhead that all the others have and can therefore hit lower price points. How much lower you ask? Shockingly, every mattress in her warehouse is 55 percent to 80 percent lower than regular store prices. Not only has she taken all of the overhead out of buying a mattress, she also eliminated the deceptive advertising, phony sales and high pressure sales tactics that are unfortunately all too common nowadays. “My goal is for my customers to have fun buying a mattress,” Cutry says. “And if they are able to come here and find

lower prices than they will ever see them any place else ever again, every minute of every day, and not have to haggle for those prices, that is a fun buying experience. I want every person that walks out of here to have a smile on their face. We want to be a breath of fresh air in the marketplace.” Saving every customer 55 percent to 80 percent every minute of every day in a no haggle, no hassle, no pressure environment? That’s a breath of fresh air alright. Keep it up, Carole! No Bull Mattress & More can be found at 2060 Springdale Road in Cherry Hill, and can be reached at (856) 751-1371 or visit us at www.nobullmattress.com. ■

ince 1955, Viking Casual Furniture has been Delaware Valley’s premier source of quality patio furniture, dinettes, wicker furniture, mattresses, bars and barstools. Always prepared for the latest trends, Viking is ready to update your backyard this spring with 2022’s most in-demand outdoor furniture and accessories. Last year’s trends saw intimate and cozy backyard areas furnished with conversation fire pits. This year, those spaces are growing larger and becoming outdoor rooms. Complete with sectional sofas surrounding fire pits, these rooms are tied together with complementing weatherproof rugs and throw pillows. Dining al fresco will once again remain a standard favorite, which means comfortable yet functional tables and chairs within close proximity to the BBQ grill are a must. Companies such as North Cape, DWL Garden Furniture, Telescope Casual, Kingsley Bate and Tropitone (all lines carried by Viking) are filling the demand for all your outdoor furniture needs by providing a variety of styles that are durable, weather-resistant, comfortable and casual. North Cape specializes in high-quality all-weather wicker furniture with thick cushioning in a full spectrum of colors. DWL Garden Furniture is famous for its classic lines and

durable cast-aluminum frames. And Tropitone brings you sleek styles with plush seating in a contemporary look. If you feel you’re fully furnished, you can still freshen up your outdoor spaces with current trending colors. The bold, bright tones from 2021 are being replaced this year with softer, slightly muted colors. Buttery hues are supplementing lemon yellow, lime green is being taken over by avocado, and those brilliant reds are tempered down into rust or gray tones. All furniture from Viking comes fully assembled and they offer hassle-free delivery throughout the Midlantic Region, including down the shore. Learning bridge is fun, and, bonus, accompanied by an array of educational and life skill benefits. Of note for younger players -- studies show that playing bridge increases students’ problem solving, speaking, listening, and mental capacity skills, as well as test scores. Playing bridge also promotes socialization and collaboration and the use of data analysis, probability, algebra, and reason and proof, according to the American Contract Bridge League. In addition to bridge, other great trick-taking card games include Euchre, Hearts, Five Crowns, Pinochle just to name a few. All of them are full of family fun. Guests cherish walking in and experiencing the rich aroma that is unique to real, old-fashioned bakeries. A few years ago, JB gained fame for introducing its ever-popular “Whale Cookie,” a sugary delight inspired by the brave beluga that swam the Delaware River. The bakery was especially honored to host Food Network Chef Robert Irvine for an episode of Dinner Impossible, entitled “Nightshift: Impossible”, during which Irvine used JB’s old-world techniques and machinery to pull a culinary allnighter. please see BAKERY, page 11

y name is Shane Gilbert and I am the owner of Shane’s Lawn Care Services LLC located in South Jersey. I’ve had the pleasure of running my landscaping business for three years. As we head into the Summer months, we are doing free estimates for our South Jersey neighbors in Camden and Burlington Counties. Coming off a successful winter, my team and I offer weekly or biweekly landscaping, mulching, sodding, along with many other services. 2022 has been excellent so far but we are no longer taking on any lawn mowing business as we plan to prioritize our full landscaping services! Family and community has always been the key to our success. I currently reside in Palmyra with my wife and children. I was born and raised in Delran where the majority of my family originated. Being able to work in an area that is close to my roots, I have met some incredible families, some of which have connections to my father and grandfather!

Hearing all of the wonderful things that people who knew them have to say, is very heartwarming. I have always enjoyed working in industries where I can connect and communicate with clients and their families. Working in a home service industry and building my business over these past three years gives me such joy that every day I get to go to work making clients happy and helping their landscaping dreams come to life. When using our business, you will find that we pride ourselves in incorporating top of the line products in all of our projects, as well as a friendly and hardworking team that you can put your trust into. Our year-round estimates and jobs are both time efficient and cost effective, meaning we work around your schedule and budget, to give you top of the line work without breaking the bank. Our care and consideration go into each and every job that we do, ensuring that our clients are satisfied with our

work. So give us a call today at 856-213-8079, for all of your landscaping needs..We can’t wait to hear from you! ■
