enue. Enjoy a holiday performance by the Choir at 7pm. Our first Station Avenue home is a Colonial featuring a miniature village showcasing Dicken’s London plus a collection of Madam Alexander dolls. Built in 1952, our next Station Avenue home has been remodeled but maintains classic touches with traditional design elements and has been decorated for Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival Lights. On Chews Landing Road, a center-hall Colonial home features a glass interpretation of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” and collection of Christmas décor. e live in a world where less and less of our everyday items and luxuries are made by hand. Artistry and attention to detail are difficult to find when ubiquitous low cost, low quality items seem to be piled each day in cardboard on our doorsteps. I began collecting antique teacups years ago because I appreciated the hand painting, complex patterns and timeless creativity of each cup. To me, they held meaning well beyond their mere function – they were their own small works of art. A few years ago, I opened a large crate containing what was

left of an Edwardian British bone china set I had recently purchased. It was packed in newspaper from the 1940s, with wool and straw tucked in for extra measure. I later learned that British families sometimes packed their family china in these materials in a bid to protect it from the bombs falling across London during the Blitz of World War II. I was overtaken by a sense of responsibility for these small treasures, caring for and protecting them just as families had done decades before. That experience inspired me to open our new shop in Haddonfield, “The Queen’s

Carriage.” I wanted others to have the opportunity to share in their own piece of history, a repurposed reminder of a different time, a different place, and a different way of life. Today, we experience that way of life only virtually as we watch “Downton Abbey,” or reflect on the life of royalty while watching “The Crown.” The Queen’s Carriage brings this history to life, right here in Haddonfield on our own Kings Highway. Cooks Tour returns for 56th year

he Auxiliary Board to Virtua Memorial will present the 2019 Cooks Tour, with a few twists, on December 4th, from 10 am to 8 pm. Ticket holders will visit four decorated private residences and the Historic Moorestown Field Club that has been recently renovated. A special opportunity to enjoy lunch or dinner at the Moorestown Field Club from 11am - 8 pm is being offered by foodwerx who operates the restaurant at the club. There will be a special price fix menu on tour day, no reservations necessary. The cost of tickets will remain at $25. Per ticket prior to tour day. Many local businesses on Main Street are selling tickets until 5:00 on December 3rd. Tickets can be purchased for $30. Per ticket at the front door of any home on tour and both the Community House of Moorestown (selling tickets until 4:00) and Moorestown Hardware (selling tickets until 5:30). The first Cooks Tour was presented in 1962 by the Curtis Auxiliary and focused primar-

All proceeds will benefit ongoing oncology patient care and services at Virtua Memorial and the newly opened Virtua Samson Cancer Center on Young Avenue.
