Jennifer Reece, PhD Fox Chase Cancer Center Associate Professor & ResearcHERS Ambassador

You can help prevent

colorectal cancer.

Jennifer Reece, PhD

If you’re age 45 or older, you should start getting screened for colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death in men and women, yet it can often be prevented or found at an early stage, when it’s small and may be easier to treat, with regular screening.

Preventing colorectal cancer or finding it early doesn’t have to be expensive. There are simple, affordable take-home tests available. Talk to your health care provider about which ones might be good options for you. No matter which test you choose, the most important thing is to get tested.

To learn more about colorectal cancer, visit the American Cancer Society’s website at cancer.org or call us at 1-800-227-2345. We’re here when you need us. LANGUAGE ©2018, American Cancer Society, Inc. No. 080529 Rev. 11/18 Models used for illustrative purposes only.

CYNTHIA BEECHLER ❈ WEICHERT REALTORS

Finding Your Balance ies can help us do all the other things in life, just a little better.

Weichert RealtorsMoorestown

Let’s face it, Life is Busy! Whether you are at home caring for the family, working full-time or both, I am a firm believer of doing our best to keep a healthy, happy mind that can contribute to good health and good relationships. Now more than ever, many people are recognizing the blurred lines between “work time” and “free time”. The pandemic has definitely made the division between work and home even more complicated. For many families, home has become the gym, the office, and school. A little separation between home and work can help you feel more present when you’re working and allow you to fully enjoy your leisure time. As a full-time Real Estate Agent in Burlington and Camden counties, I am seeing more and more families making significant changes to their living situation in order to suit their “new normal” lives. Some families are up-sizing to accommodate new working and school arrangements. Some are happy where they are but investing in home renovations. Either way, focusing on a healthy lifestyle and balanced living can protect your mental and emotional health, too. Reducing stress, regular exercise and eating foods good for our minds and bod-

• Exercise for Good Health: Make it fun! Stop focusing so much about weight or appearance. Plan a fun activity with friends or family. Just getting our bodies moving every day all adds up. Keep it a priority and try scheduling appointments just for exercise. • Making Time to Eat Right: Let’s face it, quick and easy is the go-to for most busy families these days. But now more than ever stores and restaurants are providing healthier options to enjoy. You’ll be surprised after just less than two weeks of a committed effort, you can build a healthy habit of feeding your body the nutrients it needs. Everything in moderation is a phrase you hear often, and with good reason. Everything in moderation means that there’s a healthy balance to your life. So while we all try to do our best, don’t be so hard on yourself. A small effort every day can lead to healthy lasting results! Cynthia Beechler Weichert Moorestown 202 W. Here are just three things that can help improve our overall health despite our busy scheduled: • Stress Reduction: Schedule time each week to allow yourself to de-stress. Maybe you get up a few minutes early in the morning for some quiet time. Give yourself a lunch hour and spend it by doing things you enjoy. Most importantly, don’t forget to laugh. Finding humor in life can help alleviate stress, fight off infections, boost brain health, lower blood pressure and improve your mood.

Think Spring...It ’s Almost Grilling Season!

Karen Morrison

Sweetsboro Pastry Shoppe is an old fashioned neighborhood bakery and that’s just how owner Karen Morrison wants it. “I wanted a bakery reminiscent of the days when people would walk to their local bakery for something sweet instead of going to the supermarket,” says Morrison. After 14 years in busi-

ness, Morrison and her third generation baker step-brother have mastered making some of the greatest and sweetest creations around and almost everything is made in-house. One of the keys to the success of this community oriented Swedesboro bakery is the talent of its staff. Morrison and her stepbrother welcome their staff to collaborate and come up with new ideas for designs. “We also want our customers to bring us their ideas,” says Morrison. This sweet shoppe takes pride in a “non-cookie cutter” philosophy. Customizing a cake for a birthday, graduation, holiday or any occasion one could think of is where Sweetsboro Pastry Shoppe shines!
